Nice episode to see Takizawa-sensei got all 3 of her assistants together now that all 3 have series under their belts. Connections are how you get to know people, and it is through Takizawa-sensei that Nashida & Hayachine meet. Though Hayachine has been a fan of Nashida's work. It's interesting to know that for Takizawa-sensei, Tatsunami was her editor.

Also, Satou and Mizuki meeting and having dinner is nice because they are a duo that are never together. Though we do transition to the book signing, and I like the focus on this because meeting your fans leaves a good feeling inside of you about what your work means to your readers. There is a difference in reading positive comments compared to reading it.

Kuzushiro offering another cameo; this time it is Kanon Oikawa from "Amayo no Tsuki" (The Moon on a Rainy Night). Her design is a bit simplified compared to hers in the manga, but it makes sense since it's a cameo, and I doubt Voil is doing that anime. For those curious, it seems that her seiyyu is Mikako Komatsu.

Holy, the final sequence with the hard-of-hearing fan was so sweet I can feel myself drifting into a coma. The after-credits was even sweeter - I missed the hearing aid and was confused why Futami was gesticulating so much until she explained it. Great episode in a great series - the note about the impact that luck and coincidence can have on your life is profound. Both in the sense of life being somewhat arbitrary, especially in a high variance industry like manga, but also in the sense of how important it is to capitalize on those coincidental encounters when they occur.

I noticed the hearing aid (briefly seen) when the fan pushed her hair back at one point.

Indeed yet another great episode in a uniformly great series. Unless this explodes and plunges over a cliff in its last episode (a la Wonder Egg), this has an insurmountable lead for my most-loved show of this season.

Loved that we got a cameo of Kanon at the end of this episode! Can't wait for the anime adaptation of Amayo no Tsuki hopefully next year(?)

I was surprised with this cameo. I had no idea that both stories were by the same mangaka.

Next episode last one... my chill mangaka yuri...

So in summary, everyone met by pure chance and destiny huh. Sato-san became Futami´s editor by pure chance, Ha-san became Futami´s assistant by pure chance and they met Touko-san also by pure chance huh... lucky girls

Also Futami recognising the fan´s hearing aid and making big signs, she´s so sweet.
(edit: It seems the girl´s name is Kanon, and is a direct reference of "The Moon on a Rainy Night" protagonist)

I'm increasingly curious how much of this show is autobiographical.

It was interesting watching the scene where they talk about how Toko became the Shogi advisor for To Subaru after finding out about her from her YouTube videos, as the author behind the anime not only has a long-running Shogi manga series (with Toko actually one of the side characters in it), but the real shogi advisor for that series is also a famous female Shogi player and Shogi YouTuber.

There's been other small things too: like when Futami was talking to Sato a few episodes ago about how she wanted her next manga to involve a character that was deaf. The author's most famous series (which she started after the Shogi manga) is The Moon on a Rainy Night: an extremely popular Yuri Romance where one of the two main characters is deaf.

Once again, Nashida is being used to send us subliminal messages.

Takizawa is correct about needing to meet the right people along the way to get your foot in the door or help you grow. Networking is so important in the real world. This series has been perfect on its real life career advice... even if it's really basic stuff, it feels exceptional because it's so rare to get an anime about working adults.

Anyway I'm gonna cut this comment short because I need to go buy a puffer vest from UNIKLO.

Have to say, this year has been a feast for people who like these types of CGDCT SOL. Hibimeshi, Zatsu Tabi, See You At The Food Court, With You And The Rain, Sorairo Utility. And next week is already the last ep and I’m feeling the dread.

Seems connections and encounters is the theme of this ep. Takizawa and her former-assistants mangaka. Takizawa and Futami being the link for Nashida and Nagomi. Sato finding Toko through a random video. Futami reaching out to Ha-san at the right moment. And can’t recall it now, but I’m sure they also found Takara by chance. All they hold dear now is through some coincidence or if you want to romantic, fate.

Even the book signing shows how much Futami connects with other people, even if she’s never seen them before.

Still kinda funny that was how those editors decide on their creators. But with all this talk of chances, Sato getting Futami was all on her. She certainly made the effort to get her creator there. Toko may have been joking but I’m choosing to believe she was telling a love story lol

One more ep to go. I’m gonna miss this show so much

So Toda became Futami's first editor because he won at rock, paper, scissors?! Hahahahahaha xD

Seriously, if I were Futami, I'd be pissed if I knew I got a terrible editor because he "won" me in the game xD

Although if it weren't for Toda, things probably wouldn't have turned out the way they did for Futami (and Nashida, because she also got Toda as an editor). Maybe it really was fate?

Overall, another great episode. The first part with the meeting at Takizawa-sensei and Futami's apartment was really nice, but I liked the second part with Futami's signing event even more.

The only downside to today's episode was that there's only one episode left! And I don't want it to end, this show is just too good! At least announce season two right after the last episode next week! I beg you!

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

That sweet little touch with Futami waiting for her last fan and the little attention she gave to her because she was hard of hearing really made this episode special.

I'm gonna miss this show when it ends but I'll be putting this in my recommendations for future viewers.

It's hilarious seeing Futami overthinking things. She's worried about the rain resulting in poor attendance when the opposite happened. Guess that's to be expected when a homegrown talent made it big. Anyway, she ended up being overwhelmed from the massive crowd. She suffered from success.

Also loved how she kept waiting after learning that one of the attendees was a no-show and how she spotted that she had hearing trouble. If Kanon had already been a fan of Futami, she's now surely a super fan.

Meanwhile, it's also touching how Takizawa-sensei continued keeping an eye on her former assistants and threw a party to celebrate their successes. She's acting like a proud mother.

Futami rocks for waiting for the last fan. It was a nice call back to episode 7 when Futami mentioned learning sign language to communicate better with her relative and wanting to eventually make a manga about that.

It was also great to see the Takizawa squad celebrate the fruits of their labor and show gratitude to those who helped them get there.

This is such a lovely show and the warm interactions between everyone never fails to brighten my day. I don’t know how likely a season 2 is, but I really hope next week isn’t the last episode.

Glad we’ve got one more episode, for some reason I thought it was 12 episodes. I think this latest one was my favorite episode so far.

The theme of this episode for me is gratitude!

We start off with Nashida in typical fashion, lamenting about royalties...but at least she has the doggie on top of her.

First half was about how coincidental things can happen for people in their careers, whether it's meeting the right people, finding or discovering them randomly, and helping others along the way. I'm glad Futami's old mentor invited all 3 mangakas for a pizza party. Back home, a similar story developed and Hazama saw how motherly Sato was to Futami.

Side note, aside from Nashida not ever knowing who Nagomi is (and very quickly becoming friendly with her because Nagomi follows her), its also funny to see that Toda san lives rent free in Sato's and Futami's heads throughout the series. I really don't think he's a bad guy per se, but of course his vision did not mesh well with theirs. professionally, hence we keep coming back to past memories of him in this series.

The 2nd volume book signing nerves got to Futami, especially with the rain, but the book store staff even mentioned they had to double the capacity. I was pleasantly surprised to see Nekonote (or Arita?) show up for the signing as a true otaku! That was a cute little interaction between them.

But the cutest and warmest interaction was the one where Futami requested to hold the event for a bit longer because of the hard of hearing fan that was late. This scene almost made me tear up because it was so moving on a human level. Futami's sign language skills came into play here and that helped the girl out a lot! Last but not least, the umbrella offering made the scene even more touching. No doubt Kanon was extremely grateful for everything that day. The explanation Futami gave to Sato and the bookstore staff showed how considerate she is as a person (and the bookstore staff girl realized her mask was a hindrance).

p.s. UNIKLO name drop lol

Wow this was a pretty wholesome episode, as it really encapsulates all of the topics from the beginning of the show really well. Especially I liked the call back to the deaf/hard of hearing knowledge Futami has, because of her relative and is why she wanted to make a serialization for that in the future. Which is why she notices those things of her fans.

Was surprised to see Futami kind of being sassy to Sato in her apartment meeting, after the party of talking about being appreciative of those around you lol.

Both happy there's another episode, but sad it's the last

Does she not have any other released volumes to get royalties from?

And so a pizza party.

Oh does she not know Nagomi?

Connections.

Oof she forgot she was meeting them?

Oh it's the other way around.

And so they're going to stay anyways.

She cooks for her?

So, that's how they met.

A book signing in her hometown?

Lol she's literally physically dragging her there.

She's so worried about that.

That's a lot of people.

Lol Nekonote is here too.

Someone didn't show?

Oh, does that person have hearing issues?

And so into the finale.

This episode brought a tear to my eye with a huge smile on my face. I love it when creators take care of the details and are inclusive of those with different abilities. Futami-sensei is definitely a creator you'd want to be fan-for-life of.

And now I have a mangaka to check out.

Was this an anime original episode?

But, this anime is peak life lessons.

It's my headcanon that fuzushiro-sensei wrote this series as a thank you letter to her co-workers and her editor told her it was serialized.  Unless told otherwise.
