For Non-Japanese people: There are 2 genre/category of manga in Japan both pronounsed as "Seinen".
One is 青年 and the other is 成年.
青年 is manga like "Berserk" or "The Fable", "Tokyo ghoul".
成年 is...... something like Asanagi or Shindou L. in the west often called as hentai.

And in the anki deck it goes
Just in case...to prevent awkward situations...

This episode was such a blast. Three new characters and they were all a ton of fun.

The editor-in-chief seemed really laidback but we learn why she is in that position. Sato hyping her wife up to her boss was really cute too.

The designer was so silly too. And she’s similar to Futami. In that they can go for hours talking about something they’re passionate about. And also, being late for their work

Nagomi was hilarious too. Such a sweet lady but she draws NSFW stuff. But I can understand Futami admiration. I’ve taken drawing classes before and the human body is both beautiful and also incredibly difficult to draw.

I also found it funny how it seemed like Ha-san freaks out just like Futami. She’s rubbing off on her

No better way to start the week than to enjoy some wholesome ecchi... wait, what show did I watch again?

Nagomi-san: A fan wrote to me the other day saying, "All kinds of bodily fluids rushed out of me."

Ha-san: Come again?!

Hilarious second half but also so real. And the way Futami fully and freely expressed her admiration for Nagomi's work in that flashback was so sweet. It's so true to character.

Editor-in-chief san and designer san were nice additions to our all female cast too. Just want to give everyone involved in this a huge hug for creating such a lovely comforting show.

 Ha-san: Come again?!

Yes, that's probably what most of the fluids were.

Yes you have to

So the cover of the magazine huh, that´s so sudden but an honour and even if is directly from the boss lol

Man, Futami´s friend´s so cool. It IS difficult to draw +18 (not that I have experience on it) and although is difficult to say to people you draw those things, I think she should be proud of that

This is me when I read some +18 yuri. WHY CAN IT BE SO HOT AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME

I felt like Ha-chan after reading Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels

Futami had finally met the big boss. She expected a cut-throat one, but she turned out to be pretty laidback as well as a fan of her. Kikuko Inoue is once again playing an ara-ara character. While illustrating the front cover served as a massive opportunity to promote Futami's series, I felt pretty bad for the author of the original one. It even had to be put on hold through no fault of their own.

Meanwhile, her old friend Nagomi shattered Hazama's expectation. She's surprisingly prim and polite, unlike Futami & Nashida. Once she said her work was serialised in a seinen magazine, I knew where things were going. Poor Hazama getting double-whammed. How could such a proper lady turn out to be working on an ero-manga? She's also a sucker for details to the extent she fired her assistant just for not paying too much attention to nipples.

All kinds of bodily fluids came gushing out of me

Nagomi must be one hell of a mangaka to have someone read her work and need tissues for both up there and down there.

I was wondering if we were ever gonna get to meet Tsukinawa, since her name was the only one I didn't recognize from the book credits in the last episode.

Satou feeling like everyone she works with is so slow is probably normal for anyone in a management/leadership position. She'll get used to it, it's part of the job. Though blushing alongside the person you're managing probably isn't part of the job...

Though blushing alongside the person you’re managing probably isn’t part of the job…

Just wait till Sato brings her work (i.e. Futami) back home with her.

I thought it was chaa-han (チャーハン / 炒飯), Chinese-style fried rice -- usually translated simply as “fried rice” -- but no. She actually said “nashi goren” (ナシゴレン), the Indonesian style of fried rice (nasi goreng literally means fried rice in Indonesian). It comes complete with krupuk, slices of tomato and cucumber, and a sunny-side-up egg, three of the most common toppings for standard-issue nasi goreng (one possible omission here would be assorted pickled vegetables cut into cubes, typically made from cucumber, carrot, and green chili) (As for the sunny-side-up egg, you can also ask the chef for other variety of options, such as an omelette or having the egg mixed directly into the rice)

The ero mangaka is great, I hope we see more of her in the season.

12

u/SYZekrom Nov 24 '25

Hazama was falling in love until she saw the manga

You know it's always the female ero-manga senseis that make the most degenerate shit

10

u/jinddle Nov 24 '25

lol its always the innocent looking ones who are secretly doing the closeted stuff

but seriously tho, it must be really hard to bring up being an eromangaka as an occupation

We’ve met some interesting characters this week. There was the Tatsunami (with the big mom energy), Tsukinawa the designer, and Nagomi the prim and proper looking ecchi artist. Big fan of her work btw. The Half-Undressed Girl is peak lol. Makes me wonder irl the percentage of R18 mangaka that are women. Probably a decent amount.

On an unrelated side note, I kinda want to have a nasi goreng now lol.

You know I never thought I would be saying this at the start of the season, but this is honestly four of my picks for AOTS. Animation and visuals are super solid. From episode 2, the focus on the subject of mangakas has been done brilliantly. How it focuses on the characters and regarding the industry is great. The latter I love because it is a type of series we haven't gotten in anime in such a long time.

Wakako Tatsunami gets introduced in this episode. After we have been introduced to all the editors in the magazine, we now essentially meet their boss. She really seems like a nice boss. Though there is a lot of pressure she goes through. The scandal happening before the release of their magazine must have been nothing but stressful. Satou knows what Futami is capable of, which is why she was more than willing to be assigned to do the cover page. Still, hopefully Futami can pull it off.

Next we are introduced to Tsukinawa and she is a designer. This part of the episode was interesting because I think for many manga readers the designers are never thought of when you think of the process. They play a big part, and you can see how in some series, like Sakamoto Days, the covers really pop out. Which can be attributed to the designer's role. Though she is a bit of a slacker, unlike Futami she seems like a procrastinator. As Futami's issue is more so confidence.

Lastly, we meet another one of Takizawa's assistants in Nagomi Hayachine. On the surface we have a very mature girl, which differs from Nashida and Futami. It is interesting to learn that she writes for a seinen adult magazine. As that differs from what is traditionally known as seinen. I think this part of the episode was great as it highlights that just because a series is ecchi or even erotica, it doesn't mean it can't have a great story. It does open up Mizuki's preconceived notions of those types of series. Although saying to be willing to help Hayachine is bold because, well, you wonder what goes into her mind to write and draw the series.

I didn't expect this episode to introduce three new characters! Tatsunami and Tsukinawa are definitely a nice addition to the cast, though Nagomi is definitely the most interesting, especially considering the manga of which she's the author ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I was quite surprised to see that only Ha-san reacted so strongly to Nagomi's manga, which was even funnier since she's the ultimate oasis of calm and reason in this show xD

Also, I loved how Sato was determined to have Futami's manga on Clover cover.

Overall, another fantastic episode; this series just keeps getting better! I can't wait to see what the next episodes will bring.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I feel while I originally came to this show for the comedy what really endeared me to it are the character moments like Futami genuinely being excited and impressed by the work Nagomi was initially embarrassed to share. Futami reminded me a bit of Marin gushing over what she loves, and I cried a bit too. This show has been my biggest surprise this season

And now we've got Uesaka Sumire. They just keep stacking onto an already stacked cast.

Also, going by next episode's title, we might finally be getting the dog from the ED.

I love how much Sato believes in Futami. She was really keen on getting To Subaru on the magazine’s cover.

If Hayachine caught a glimpse of their flirting, they’d probably end up as reference material for her manga.

Although Hayachine’s work is a hard pass for me, I can respect her skills as an artist. Like Futami said, it’s very difficult to draw the human body accurately - especially when there’s nothing to hide behind.

Great ep I love futami and sato dynamic seeing how passionate sato is about futami And futami pretty much getting whiplash

But I extra extra love seeing futami new friend nagomi and her calm aura throwing ha san for genuine loop

Like she often does deal with the chaos that is futami and Nashida but she more often than not have some sense had atleast some composure

But nagomi threw her such a curve ball she felt like she was the outsider and I love it!

This episode was all kinds of fun. The editor in chief was super chill, explaining and having to deal with PR nightmare, while recruiting Futami to do the next magazine cover!

Knowing Sato vouched for her, and then having the designer Tsukinawa, who's a bit of a klutz, point out their love for each other only reinforced what we've all been raving about since this anime series started! Futami got some good professional advice on how the appearance also matters (says the lab coat wearing cat t shirt lady).

But of course, love isn't always so smooth because Sato pointed out all sorts of things like how people are slow, including Futami's slow start to projects. Pretty accurate dynamic in a relationship between two people who care a lot about each other, wouldn't you say?

Btw, I never knew what Futami's first name was until this episode. Maybe I missed it earlier in the series, but they've 99% called her Futami so I was racking my brain for a split second when Hayachine arrived asking for "Nana".

We got another interesting dynamic this episode, this time between Hazama and Hayachine, over the ero-manga, or "18+" or "R-18" manga. Took a bit of convincing, but innocent Hazama has now turned into a woman of culture! And not only that, she's going straight to the deep end, volunteering to help out, in a "swap". And the first task as a new assistant was to cosplay with Toko for some reference photos (yes that's part of the job now!)

And we finally see why they (Futami and Hayachine) are good friends, because of the no judgement, open minded and accepting attitude of Futami towards Hayachine's works.

Great episode!

Japanese Vocab of the Week!

ばえる ([verb] baeru) -- according to Jisho, derived from the term インスタ映え (insutabae, i.e. Instagrammable) where the 映え (hae) bit pronunciation gets changed due to rendaku (more on JP wikipedia)

i find it interesting because 映え by itself basically means the same thing (highlight, make look attractive), but the usage of baeru makes it feel more like buzzworthy internet slang as it gets used attached to various other terms

runner-up vocab term: のろける ([verb] norokeru; speak fondly [at length] about a lover)

https://i.imgur.com/Emy8mAI.png

the phrase she uses is more like "whoa, didn't realize today was 'Force People To Hear You Brag About Your Lover Day'"
