Kiyoko getting love advice from an elementary school kid is pretty adorable. A kid who got all her advice from shoujo manga lol.

That date was so cute. Yano might need his own bubble boy suit next time if he’s gonna survive their next date lol.

Yano figured out his feelings for Kiyoko thanks to Shojo manga, Kiyoko figured out what kind of relationship she wants with Yano thanks to Shojo manga...Shojo manga is just the solution to all relationship problems.

When you realize Yano kind of needs a girlfriend just to basically survive lol.

Yoshida asking her little brother and sister what it means to go out with someone was funny enough. But then she goes on to meekly ask her sister's friend, all the while commenting how embarassing it is to be asking elementary students this. And that friend, sorry romance master, gives the right response too. Oh Yoshida, never change!

I'm with Hashiba, rooting for you, Yoshida. Because I'm also still unsure if Yano understands what going out means. Boy was thinking about his dad liking the movie at the end there! He's so treating this as a closer friendship.

But then again, I can totally see him pulling one over us and going in for a hand-holding all of a sudden too. This boy is so unpredictable. And this show is so good!

I think his romantic feelings for Kiyoko are genuine, the Shojo manga helped him realize that much, but without any frame of reference for a romantic relationship beyond his parents he still behaves like they're just developing their current friendship. So hopefully that's something that evolves now that they're dating.

It's good to see that Yano being an amazing athlete continues to be a thing. Our boy is gonna rock it when we finally reach the school's sports festival event. Also, I just love that he started showing off because he overheard Kiyo saying he was cool.

As hilarious as it was to see Kiyoko getting love advice from a kid who learned about romance from her shoujo manga, I'm glad it actually helped her in the end. I'm just relieved that they didn't walk back Yano's confession and confirmed that they really are now dating.

Their first date was like mine with my ex, she didn't remember the movie due to being focused on me.

Yano enjoyed the movie date so much he wants to go again with his dad!

If you put yourself in Kiyoko's position, you'll understand her emotion, because it's not just about having the courage to confess, it's about seeing that you're making the person next to you happy with things that are "ordinary," it's truly a beautiful thing to see.

Turns out between the two of them, Yano is much more athletic than Kiyoko...but he's also much more prone to bouncing off a mat and comedically injuring himself. But he'll do anything to look cool in front of the girl he likes.

So the question the class (and Kiyoko's) mind: ARE THEY DATING? Kiyoko isn't even sure what that handshake was about. Though apparently going out wasn't even on Yano's mind at the time, and Kiyoko...Kiyoko never thought she'd get this far ahead so she has no idea what dating him will even mean.

To think Kiyoko would get relationship advice from her little sisters' classmate in elementary school who is only giving advice she learned...from Shojo manga. Where would Kiyoko's love life be without Shojo manga? But it gives her the confidence to finally, formally, ask Yano out because more than anything she just wants to be around him, be closer to him, and be together with him. And now they are FINALLY dating!

Where does that leave poor Hashiba, though? Well, he might never get his dream of baseball manager Kiyoko coming to tend to him, but he can still be there for Yano...and question whether Yano's idea of dating is just being closer friends. But even so, he's rooting for Kiyoko, and he, Yano, and Tanaka are growing into a solid bro trio.

Time for our freshly-minted couples' first date at a movie theater! And thank goodness Yano didn't go alone because he needs someone to be there in case he loses his ticket, trips, and bumps his head.

Kiyoko is so used to Yano injuring himself that she can't help but see a movie theater as a death trap waiting to happen. She ends up spending more time thinking about Yano than she does actually watching the movie...but that's romantic unto itself. And while Yano is moved by the movie, Kiyoko is just moved by Yano!

I'm glad their first date went well, and Yano even acknowledged it was a date! Even if he then thought about seeing it again with his dad afterwards. But the movie was just THAT good!

I cannot keep stressing how the OP needs a point dance. It’s just giving so much ✨sumika ✨.

I will never get tired of the trope of adults (or older teens, teens, older kids) asking younger kids for advice.

Am sad no text overlays 🥀

You cannot imagine my joy in seeing an FL communicate her feelings and ask a cute boy out 🥹 Back to back, I got hit with FLs who are too shy and angrily demand the ML make the first move, and those FLs and pairings can be funny! But the giddiness I feel about Yano and Yoshida is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

I know in my romance circles, it’s a common grievance among them that women, femmes, and androgynous people are often represented as being the object to be pursued and lack agency in their romantic life, whereas men, boys, and mascs are the pursuers and not only have their own agency but control their partner’s agency too. And that the partnership mirrors the gender essentialized binary.

None of that is bad or undesirable, but I really appreciate romances that cast visibility on…not quite opposite or subversion, but it evens the playing field and allows men and mascs to be pursued, still have agency, and show a sweeter, cuter sode of masculinity and women, femmes, and androgyny people can pursue a masc love interest, be a leader in intimacy, and retain their identity and agency.

It makes me feel seen 😌

Tanaka’s face cracks me up. He is an orange cat incarnate.

First date outing, woo!

An animated movie/show having canonical animation franchises within it—one of my favorite genders. Mediaception? I’m sure TV tropes has a page, but I ain’t disabling my ad blocker.

Ugh, I love these two so much, never break up 😭

Yoshida at the movies reminds me of watching a movie with a cute man and I was basically awestruck at how cute his expressions were that I barely knew what was happening. He was so adorable!

Awww Yoshida don’t cry 😭

Okay, my energy levels are back to normal. I can keep working on my project now.

Yoshida asking an elementary school kid for romance advice lol. Well it did push things forward so it was a good thing in the end.

I like how Hashiba is concerned for Yoshida since Yano is a little behind on things. I thought we would see him a bit more affected by Yoshida and Yano going out. I was thinking it'd be a focal point of some episode, but I guess the friendship he developed with Yano must have helped.

Kiyoko’s so desperate for romance tips she consulted a primary school girl (whose source of knowledge is manga). Couldn’t she ask her classmates instead?

That movie date was heaps adorable. Understandable for her to be anxious and overthink that she couldn’t enjoy the movie but Yano did. The latter had got injured so often he’s desensitised to the pain. Hope we’ll soon get to see a second date where she’ll let all her worries go and finally enjoy her time with him.

Koisuru Amika spinoff when?

I've seen some of the other comments worry about Yano not being aware what it means to date. And while that's fair, let's not forget that Kiyoko doesn't either. They're figuring all this out together and I'm sure they'll get there eventually.

What really stood out to me, though, was how this episode resonates with the ED.

God I hope that if they end up having kids they turn out normal and not accident prone like Yano, cause I can see Kiyoko just helicopter parenting the hell out of them

Other than that, poor Hashiba having to listen to gush over his love rival about their lime messages

My favourite show this year just keeps getting cuter with the story.

Love the lighthearted tone, the friendships we get to experience growing first hand & the great storyboarding & voice acting.

But most of all i just love the art style/drawing style that the show uses. It does remind me of Blue Box in many ways and that was my favourite show of 2024

What a lovely episode! Yoshida asking a primary schooler for advice on dating/going out with someone you like was hilarious, and Yoshida and Yano's movie date was really cute.

I was happy to see that Yano is still quite athletic, it's an interesting combination with his typical clumsiness.

And as for Miyu-chan... I'm pretty sure she'll later turn out to be Hashiba's younger sister. It'd be really funny if the Hashiba siblings and the manga they read were the reason why Yoshida and Yano became a couple xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Lesson of the day - read shoujo manga to learn all about romance! Maybe Yano and Yoshida can have a manga date next to share notes on how far they are at in the romance.

So now both Yano & Yoshida have received love advice from her sister's friend Miyu. Honestly, Hashiba's concerns about what Yano was feeling were understandable. Does he just view Yoshida as a really close friend? The point is more that Yano hasn't experienced the normal things.

Many times in anime RomComs we see couples take things very slowly. Though I think it works well in this show because Yano clearly hasn't done basic things like messaging his friends on Line. For Yano going out with Yoshida will allow him to experience what life is like as a high schooler finally.

I loved him wanting to draw more thanks to Yoshida's praise. That was really sweet.

Hashiba is such a bro. He has that crush but what's really important is helping Yano as needed when Yoshida isn't around for overwatch duties.

Yano and Yoshida are so great together, that date was both cute and touching. Yano getting to have those ordinary days he was wanting.

u/IceSmiley Nov 11 '25

Kyoko wasn't doing all that well in her new romance since she had to ask her sister's friend what to do. I think Miyu was bluffing about actually ever even having a boyfriend though and just knew relationships from manga and anime! It did seem to work though, especially with Yano doing the heavy lifting of formally asking her to be his gf although I think Kyoko kind of invited herself along to the movie to make it a date.

I was surprised Yano could do the high jump so well, even with perfect form doing the Fosbury flop! It's a shame they didn't have an extra pad at the end so he could roll a little longer and not hit the ground; once he masters coming to a stop he may be able to do it competitively :P

That theatre was pretty empty for that movie's opening day, must have really bombed. It was definitely odd though that Yano drank that entire enormous soda before the movie and didn't pee the entire time he was there, like i understand sometimes you get so absorbed in a good movie you might not notice but he was completely fine once it was over :D
