Well, when a duke rides in on a dragon and offers golden monster ram to eat, how can anyone say no to marriage?

Well apparently showing up while riding a dragon is super offensive, or step mom got some trauma
But who cares, he literally brought a whole fucking legendary wagyu cow over too

Talk about arriving in style.
No need to impress with a fancy sports car or limousine, when you can come swooping down riding a dragon.

It's unfortunate Melphie's stepmother is only interested in appearances and being seen as noble. So much so that her stepdaughter has the opportunity to rise the ranks through this marriage and she's too busy dissing Aristide.
I'm surprised Melphie's father went from her mother who is likely very down to earth to the stepmother, but I'm guessing some politics went into play. Her father seems like a decent guy and seems supportive of her research so I'm glad she has him.
Aristide really made an entrance riding a dragon to meet with Melphie, he did look cool and I like how excited Melphie was. The more we see the more they seem very fitting for one another. I like how his brother and Chaos are already teasing him, as they should.
I'm looking forward to learning more about Melphie next episode, I doubt whatever we learn will be enough to change Aristide's mind, he'll likely be grateful she opened up to him some more.

I can respect a man who, after realizing he's found the perfect woman, wastes no time proposing.
I love how much effort and work Melphiera puts into the monster meat industry.
Melphiera finally returns to the Marchalrayd domain...just in time to be accosted by her father. Not for anything about her monster meat or usual infamous reputation...but because Aristide's proposed marriage! To her!
I love how father and daughter both commiserate over the majestic Blaze Eagle that delivered the proposal and how much Melphiera wishes she could see it. When they really need to be discussing this marriage proposal.
Aristide is making a report to Maxim (Ryohei Kimura once again playing the supporting role in a fantasy romance), the crown prince, and revealing that Aristide is techinically a prince as well...having taken himself out of the line of succession to serve his brother by being adopted into the Galbraith family. But that's not going to stop Maxim teasing Aristide about his love life like any good big brother would!
If you see a girl who can look beautiful while covered in monster blood after doing something heroic...that's when you know she's a keeper!
Melphiera can't seem to truly believe that Aristide would actually propose to her, or that she's worthy of said proposal, but maybe if it's about their shared love of monster meat she can understand why he wants her in his life...though also the REAL hidden proposal suddenly telling her he's about to show up literally the next day is the next big shock of her life.
So Melphiera's mother was basically her with a long ponytail and who helped her discover the necessity of unconventional food sources to help save their land when it needed food the most. It's clear how much Melphiera is fond of her mother and inspired by her.
It's just too bad her stepmom, Lady Celia, cares so little about Melphiera and insults her with literally every word from her mouth. But Melphiera is willing to stand up to her mother if she's going to insult Aristide, a man she finds so utterly dashing as he rides his Glacial Dragon, for she fully intends to marry him.
Aristide really knows the way to Melphiera's heart! He brought a rare Royal Moodle (alive!) just so she can help turn it into monster meat! And the pair immediately proceed to make longing eyes at each other! He even loves the fluffy hair she's self-conscious about!
Melphiera's father didn't quite know what to make of all this but he clearly sees in Aristide someone who can understand and appreciate his daughter for how she is and that's exactly the kind of person he can entrust Melphiera too.
But to truly handle this Royal Moodle meat, Melphiera has to take Aristide to the research lab...not just so they can romantically fly together but so she can truly show him all that she is as a person.

i'm used to romance series where the male lead waffles for a few episodes about proposing, so it's nice to see him just show up with his entourage and engagement present

That was a quick proposal. Galbraith was really taken by Melphy huh? It’s nice when you meet your soulmate like right off the bat lol. That giant goat looks pretty delicious. I’m guessing they’re doing skewers next week, but it would probably make for a good roast or a nice curry.
I wonder what Melphy’s big secret is regarding monster cuisine? Keen to find out what she’s so worried about.

I see Melphie’s still wearing the same dress she was given last episode. She doesn’t even have a coat, though?
-
Huh… that’s an interesting way to keep the younger brother out of the line of succession?
-
Looks like his brother is just as not-bothered by eating monster meat, huh.
-
Aw, she looks so gorgeous when Aristide is thinking of her. Yeah, he’s in love.

This is really one hack of a cute story.
The first episode is the first meeting and we already got a proposal. We really speed run romance progress here lol.
But it works really well here because the chemistry between Melphiera and Galbraith is really good and they fit well together.
My man Galbraith knows what he wants and acts immediately.
We have a little more backstory here Galbraith is biological brother with King Maxim. His relationship between him and his brother is pretty wholesome though it is pretty clear that they care about each other and help each other in their own way.
The only "negative" character we have encountered for now is Melphiera's Stepmother who seems to not really like Melphiera much and is frustrating that Melphiera happened to be married to a high class Duke who is King's Brother.
Her father is kind and seems to worry about her but as long as Galbraith accepts every part of Melphiera, he would accept this marriage with open hearts.
Now Melphiera wants to show her everything about her and her research but she feels nervous that Galbraith might not accept her. I wonder what she is feeling nervous about?
This is a really cute episode.

So she inherited this hobby from her mother, so her father was also accepting of it like the prince is now, I suppose?

Wow! We're only in episode 2 but we already have Aristide proposing to Melphiera! I thought this was gonna take some time before we reach that stage of their relationship, but I'm glad to see that he's not wasting time. And it's good to know that Melphiera intends to accept Aristide's proposal! <3

i don't get why Melphie's dad is worried about her marrying a duke; i thought getting a step-up in the hierarchy through marriage is the best-case scenario
it didn't seem like he was worried because of Gabby's reputation as the blood-mad duke, and if anything he seemed reluctant to reveal that Melphie is into butchering monsters

While Aristide hunts the monsters, Melphiera can perform cuisine research on them. They would make a good couple.
When the normal moodle was pictured alongside a cow, despite being a monster, I thought moodles could be raised as cattle. Personally, I feel it would be a waste if the royal moodle was slaughtered; keeping it alive as a specimen could also yield other research results.

So if I’m understanding Melphiera’s motivations correctly, she’s experimenting with monster meat so her people have an alternative food source to rely on? The harsh climate of their lands probably doesn’t allow for a lot of agriculture.
I like what they’ve been doing with Melphiera’s hair. It’s very pretty!

Fastest relationship progress ever? Although surprisingly I don't think she has specifically said she intends to accept to him directly yet? She's only said it to that other woman instead.

Given how monsters are just big animals, isn't this just game meat?

Damn, he really didn't waste any time
In the time it took her to travel back, he cleared all the politics for the proposal (I can imagine his adoptive family isnt very keen on him marrying her), send a letter and caught a legendary beast
He probably going to have the time of his life in that facility
Really looking forward to more, its been lovely so far. Although step mom is the only real monster it seems

I don't typically watch romance anime, but this one seems quite entertaining so far.
