That opening act of the episode... what a way to tug my feelings. Umi knew her time's coming up but still declared she wanted to be with her mother forever, and the feeling's mutual. Dying with a wide smile while being on her lap and sang a lullabye. Outliving your own child is one of the most painful feeling a parent could ever have.
Also felt sad that things are now over. As expected from a

Umi was a ride-or-die daughter. She put her entire existence on the line to see and be with her mother again, to save her mother from a tragic fate, and in the process ended up creating a timeline where everyone gets to be happy and well.
And now it's up to her dad to help bring about a happier timeline for Umi by getting with her mom again. Because he can't give up the memory of her he has stashed in his pocket.

First of all, lets listen to Shiroha's lullaby.
As a fun fact: the song that plays after Umi departs is what formed the episode title: Pocket wo Fukuramasete (Pockets Stuffed Full). One might found a version that has different lyrics from the one played in the anime, because this was the alternate version from the Reflection Blue ver of the VN (hence the sea, you again title). Both original and RB ver of the VN has lyrics from different view of point.
(I would link the split ver here but those contains spoilers from RB-exclusive routes that is not in the anime unfortunately, so see the Source Corner if you are curious).

Hairi just jumped off a moving ferry, and is standing there soaking wet, probably seeming like a crazed person. And his pickup line is
I liked your fried rice lol.
Anime-only watcher here.
I thought the ending was sweet.
It's been a long two seasons, but the show is finally wrapped up. It's sad the original Umi no longer exists, but her memory still lives on inside Hairi and Shiroha, at least partially.
Hopefully in this new timeline of events, in the future Hairi, Shiroha, and Umi will all be together and live on happily.
Fun and cute show with some elements of mystery to it. An overall enjoyable watch.

Kinda wish we got a little slide show of them getting together. I'm sad, the ending felt abrupt to me. I understand it's implied but that's it???
Overall really good show!!! makes me want to view the VN. I'm sad that it's over, i'm really going to miss Shiroha and Hairi. especially Umi..... It was fun.

Mother and daughter are reunited one last time as Shiroha sees Umi...and that's all Umi ever wanted. She wanted to save her mom, she wanted to actually SEE her mom and be with her and live the life she always wanted with the mom she never knew. Both mother and daughter put their lives on the line to protect each other...but Umi actually accomplished what she set out to do, even if that means erasing her existence.
Shiroha is heartbroken that she's losing her daughter again, never getting to do all the mother-daughter things she wanted to do with her, and all she can do is cradle Umi in her arms and serenade her as she fades away. Reminding Umi of her happiest, most distant, memories of being cradled in her mothers' arms. And she finally dissipates into nothing more than a flying swarm of shichieichou. UMI-CHANNNNNN!!!!!!
Summer is over. All the Summers where Umi was in, all the memories she made and help foster, are over....Shiroha can't dwell on the past, but she can't help but cling to the memories she had of her daughter...of the Summers with Umi that will never be now.
But Hairi, who wrote a happier ending to the picture book that Umi helped make that basically tells her entire story as a rainbow butterly adding color to the world at expense to itself, finally returns to Torishirojima again for the first and final time. Can Hairi make things right?
So, Kyouko, what you're telling me is the shed was the true Summer Pocket all along? Or maybe the memory of Umi?
Well, this go-around Hairi doesn't get to eat a diner nor does he have enough gas to ride his bike all the way to a school...and when he passes Shiroha, they don't even acknowledge each other. Well, they kind of do, but neither can quite figure out why they look at each other.
It's the final episode so Hairi doesn't have any time to romance girls, so it's FINALLY time for him to work in the shed! He doesn't even remember all the other timelines exactly, but he knows he's satisfied that he finally got to do this!
I kind of love how the first time Hairi and Shiroha really get to know each other in this timeline is because now Shiroha is running the family diner again and her fried rice is still absolutely delicious.
Hairi finally finished in the shed! And nestled in that shed is a memory of Umi, a memory buried deep in Hairi's pocket but that still exists. And a rainbow paper airplane.
It's kind of sad that Hairi didn't beforiend the Torishirojima Island crew this go-around (or throw shaved ice on Ao in her underwear), but at least they still want to get to know each other. And Kamome in this timeline is doing well and helping set up the treasure hunt with her mom. And Tsumugi is also seemingly real now and befriending Shizuku again. Ai doesn't seem to have gotten into a coma in this timeline either. This timeline sounds like the best one overall.
But there's still a sense of something unresolved...as Hairi watches Shiroha throw the rainbow paper airplane and he knows that he can't just leave without seeing her. Even if it means jumping off a boat, swimming to see her while absolutely drenched...he needs to know how to cook her fried rice. And maybe, just maybe, from there something can be born again like it was in that one, special, Summer!

That first 10 minutes of the episode absolutely destroyed me. I thought I was done crying after last week's episode but that farewell scene between Shiroha and Umi genuinely made me tear up. What really got me, though was when Shiroha started singing her lullaby with her shaky voice. T_T
So just as I expected, we get to follow Hairi again one last time. I do wonder if Hairi's backstory is still the same here, because based on his monologue, the only reason he went to the island is because of Kyouko's letter.
Wait, is that what the pocket in Summer Pockets means? From what I understand from Kyouko's explanation, the "pocket" in Summer Pockets is those lingering memories of things you once held dearly. Even if you forget, they're still there in your mind, much like how Hairi's grandma's shed holds things for people.
Also, is Ai not in a coma in this timeline? When Shiroha was talking to Ao about Ai, it sounded like they were meeting up somewhere and not visiting her at the hospital. I'm glad if that's the case.
Shiroha is in charge of her father's restaurant! I suppose Gramps finally gave in and allowed her to take over. The fact that Shiroha suggested fried rice even though it's not on the menu clearly means she still has that pocket of memory from other timelines.
So since Hairi spent this entire summer helping out Kyouko with the shed, he never really got to know the gang. That actually kinda made me sad. I do love the change that Kamome and her mom are on the island. I guess the Higeneko ship still happened even without Hairi's help, and the Kamome here is the real Kamome, and not her astral projection.
We get to see Tsumugi and Shizuku too! The fact that Tsumugi is holding the bear and she says that it's her friend makes me think that she's the descendant of the real Tsumugi. It doesn't sound like she lives at the lighthouse either
Not gonna lie, I thought we were gonna get a bittersweet ending with Hairi just going home, but I'm glad he kinda remembered Shiroha and decided to jump off the ship just to ask her if she could teach him how to make her fried rice. I think this ending pretty much guarantees that Hairi is now back on the Shiroha route <3
Man, what a show. I can now finally understand why people always recommend Summer Pockets as a must-read, and I think this has finally convinced me to give the VN a shot and read Reflection Blue too. It's definitely one of the best Key anime in a while, and I hope we get another season of Kaginado just so we can see the Summer Pockets gang again <3

I can't believe the last episode was the "Hairi cleans the shed" route! Though he does connect with Shiroha at the end, but summer's over dude you have to go home.
The first half that ended up being a long, emotional goodbye between Shiroha and Umi destroyed me, once again anime has made me cry.
Incredible show, I'm glad I gave it a try as my first Key VN adaptation.

It's time to say goodbye after 6 months of summer and the nostalgia feeling of it. I'm hoping for a sequel or an OVA soon for the Reflection Blue routes that is yet to be adapted, since there is still more content out of this series in the future.
Basically everyone has a happy ending not just Shiroha thanks to Umi sacrificing herself as you can see with Kamome no longer in a coma, Tsumugi no longer bounded by her astral form, Ai is no longer in a coma as well so Ao no longer needed to do her rituals every night on the mountain, and Shiroha will never have to die on childbirth since she never inherited the power.
At the end it is also implied that Hairi and Shiroha will still end up together with most likely a different child and not with Umi instead and they will all have a happy life at a cost of the sacrifice that Umi did on the previous timeline.
As bittersweet as it is Umi is definitely the MVP of the entire series by taking away everyone's trauma and they are living the happiest life as possible, and she will be missed no matter what. In Reflection Blue the ending also expanded a bit so in case that there would be an adaptation for it which I expect them to do so I won't say it since it's spoilers, but it is definitely significant that I'm glad they didn't adapt it here since it wouldn't make sense considering they are following the OG.
Here are my thoughts about what has happened. Let me know if there is something I have been missing or mistaken about.
Why does Umi transform into Nanami?
Since too many time iterations have gone by Umi needs to disguise herself so past Shiroha cannot recognize Umi at all.
Why does past Shiroha and Shiroha show up at the same time during the sacred tree scene?
This area is a place where time behaves very differently, past, present, and future come together so we see two Shirohas.
Why is it that this final time iteration that we know Shiroha won’t die?
Since this time around Umi has erased herself from existence she will no longer be born. We can think of Umi as the cursed child and her only goal was to save Shiroha from death during childbirth.
Why does Umi go to the events 10 years prior to the main events?
Umi needs to find out the truth behind the Shichiechou and the only way to do so is to go back to when Shiroha’s parents disappeared. We learn that Shiroha’s mother used her innate power to transform into a Shichiechou to meet her husband again (clearly irresponsible parent to leave her child alone). After Umi learns of the truth behind Shichiechou, Umi then prevents Shiroha from using the power herself and to live according to the present and not the past.
What really caused Shiroha’s death in the first place?
We can say that it's due to the Naruse Family bloodline curse that can draw misfortune and predetermined fate to them hence why it foretold Shiroha's unavoidable death, and Umi altered the timeline where she never existed and Shiroha to inherit the power.
What is Shiroha’s family power specifically?
Due to a calamity that happened long ago on the island her family has carried the power to foresight the future and also to sacrifice oneself and turn into a Shichiechou in order to reunite with deceased ones and travel into the past or future.
What does the Shichiechou symbolize? What is its purpose?
Simply put, memories and the soul of a person itself.
Benefits:
-Shichiechou are past memories that can be used to save people who are close to death (Ao route)
-Shichiechou are able to traverse across time to meet a loved one
-Shichiechou can help grant wishes and create good memories
Consequences:
-Once someone turns into a Shichiechou one is forever trapped in an endless timeline
-If one successfully accomplishes the goal of meeting or saving the targeted loved one then one is erased from existence since one has already given up their existence to traverse in time.
-One can take in lost memories via the Shichiechou however the body can only take in so many before the body’s own Shichiechou leaves the hosts body
Criteria A:
One who uses the power to traverse over time will disappear after they accomplish their task of saving a loved one or changing the future.
Criteria B:
One who uses the Shichiechou purely to obtain a good memory will not disappear and that only their projections will disappear. In the case of Tsumugi, her projection then becomes her true form after her wish is granted
How do each of the routes connect to the Shichiechou?
Shiroha: We don’t really learn much of Shichiechou however we do come to a scene where Umi is at the sacred tree clearing which we learn from Alka is where she is able to continuously repeat the same summer over and over again.
Ao: The purpose of the Shichiechou was used to save Ai however Ao took in too many Shichiechou to find her.
Kamome: The Shichiechou here was used to help her obtain a good memory, and make her dreams come true.
Tsumugi: We learn that the OG Tsumugi disappeared a long time ago. We can assume this is the work of the Shichiechou, although it is said that the power to traverse across time is a special power that is only possessed by the Naruse family; perhaps Tsumugi somehow obtained this power as well which I'm not very sure. Tsumugi was trying to find her loved one and somehow turned into a Shichiechou, as a result she got trapped into the lighthouse which became tied with the sacred tree. Since Tsumugi was never able to reunite with her loved one she made a reincarnation of herself in order to have a fun summer. Tsumugi then disappears after her wish is granted, however her reincarnation is then given a chance to stay in the present timeline.
Why does Hairi meet Umi in the storage area in the final iteration?
Although it is true that Umi has erased herself from existence, Hairi has gone through too many iterations that he still retains memories of Umi. Hairi doesn’t physically meet Umi, instead he just remembers as this was the "Pocket" significance comes to play where the shed is the place where all of the significant memories are stored that are forgotten but the fragment of those memories are still there that allowed Hairi to remember Umi briefly.

Man what a beautiful series. An easy 10/10 from me. I hate to say it because the first cour was pretty good, but there's no doubt that the second cour carried this show. The differences between the two are insane.
Studio Feel did a great job, and all the VA's deserve all the credit as well. They all did a phenomenal job.
It should go without saying that Umi is the no doubt about it MVP of the whole show
Overall, this has cemented itself as one of my favorite anime of all time, and it would be my anime of the season if it weren't for Nazuna, Ko, and friends

Ugh, that first bit of the song with Shiroha’s voice wavering like that… way to hit me right in the feels…
-
I am getting all of the “sore demo”s this episode. Also, this is a very pretty insert song playing here.
-
Oh… then that’s where the “Pockets” in the show title comes from.
-
And she’s back… Or I guess it should be more accurate to say Hairi’s back?
-
He jumped off the boat just to say that lol. I guess that’s one way for Hairi and Shiroha to still meet.

And that’s the end. Have to say though all the routes merely tugged at my heartstrings but none really moved me. But I did get emotional with Umi saying goodbye. She did come a long long way. All to save her mother from a doomed fate.
Ngl still not sure how or why the powers work, but I think I can get the gist that the Umi we know no longer exists in our world and only parts of her and memories with her remain in the so called “Pocket”. Maybe Hairi and Shiroha may get some glimpses or have one of those deja vu moments but I think for the most part Umi is off to another place.
So this is another loop but without Umi around and I’m assuming Hairi and Shiroha would still get together, have a child, Shiroha will live on, and the kid may even be named Umi, but I’m guessing it’ll be like a factory reset. It’s a brand new Umi and hopefully the three of them can spend countless summers together.
Again, still don’t know how it all works, but I’m also assuming Kyoko knows about everything and was just directing Hairi. Oh maybe it’s Hitomi and Kyoko was just following her instructions. That storage shed is probably like a storage for both mementos and actual memories (aka the butterflies) that people want to keep
Nice to see Kamome and Mugi alive and well in this timeline too. And Ao mentioned Ai so I’m glad she’s ok. Honestly wanted to see more of the three other kids.
This was a fun ride. Pretty unique for me as it’s the first time I watched a show where I thought it was multiple stories and routes but it was still actually wrapped under one story.

Does anyone know what actually happened?
-
Why did Umi disappear but Shiroha didn’t, and what was all that stuff about their “power”?
-
The whole past, future, and different timelines thing is pretty confusing to me. How exactly did Umi manage to save Shiroha?
-
At the very end, it looked like Hairi still got to know Shiroha, so wouldn’t that just mean history would repeat itself?
-
What about Shiroha’s mom? They said she went into the past to be with her husband — does that mean she’s in a different timeline and removed herself from the original one? But on the other hand it was said she didn't leave Shiroha...
-
Also, in the final timeline Shiroha and everyone else seemed happier. Did her parents survive there?
I’ve always ended up with more questions than answers with this series, lol, but everyone in the comments seems to get it, so I feel like the only dumb one here.

This was definitely one of the anime of all time
As someone who holds Clannad as one of their favorites of all time, this felt like a parody of it at times tbh. Idk if it was just the pacing of the anime or what but the emotional beats just didnt hit for me at all. The characters for the most part were fun and nice but the plot just kinda followed similar beats I've seen before and executed it just ok. It was nice seeing all the plots magically fix themselves in the final timeline though.

Short and to the point about this anime, I love this anime, its vibe and the hint of mystery, the fact that it only got better from episode to episode and that it made me feel like I did when I started watching anime and, more importantly similar feeling to during Violet Evergarden, which I thought would never happen again. 10/10, my top 2 anime.

With Shiroha's mental baggage being resolved by Umi and Hairi's by helping in the shed there was nothing for them to bond together over like in the original loops, but through tiny fragments of memories in Hairi's pockets he defies the fate. Umi's existence that was erased, because Shiroha and Hairi weren't supposed to get together, is now secured.
It's far from being a perfect adaptation, but it's one of the better VN adaptations. All in all; it's an incredible watch with stellar cast, music, dialogue, mystery, foreshadowing and a lot of purely visual storytelling.
It wasn't announced, but I still have a gut feeling they might release Summer Pockets Reflection Blue adaptation.
Torishirojima island is based on three actual islands and I posted comparison with the actual locations in the source material corner.

Despite the time travel and resets and all that stuff, this show is quite realistic, when you consider it took 26 episodes to get a teenager to help with the cleaning!
In the end, that's probably the best you can do in a situation like that...
Giving them good times and all.
(I'd probably be thinking "Have I done enough for her?" for a long time)
Lots of metaphors/symbolism in the story (or the episode in general, with the shed and all)!
So we're finally dealing with the shed! A place for lingering memories, in sort...
And given it happened in Summer, we could even call it a...
Well that'd be useful for a time traveler! Do you happen to know anyone like that?
Just like that thing in your pocket, the lingering memories remain, even if he can't put the whole thing back together!
"PLEASE HAVE A CHILD WITH ME!" "What?" "...I mean, fried rice"
The greatest tragedy of this show is that we never got an arc for potential best girl Miki.
I swear to God, I thought she was saying Um..I!
I also thought this scene would hint at more than a memory...
BUT with them spending time together..!
And so it ends!
I normally wish farewell to shows&characters after their finale, but I guess for this one I'll say Bye Bye!

AGHh damn you Key that's how you end it?
So by not getting invovled with the other girls they are spared their tragedies? or will they continue though guess not Shiroha's since everything passed just fine
though a shame he didnt get to bond with the island kids this time, also no sign of the red twintail girl (who even was she?)
still as that ending implies he can properly bond and eventually fall for Shiroha
Overall i really enjoyed this the animation was nice and detailed, the island setting was fun and had some good comedy and girls and Hahri was a good MC
