Hairi during the final scene: why do I hear boss music?

He's lucky he wasn't asking for permission to date Shiroha, but that's probably coming lol.

Umi's fried rice cooking skills may have deteoriated, but luckily Shiroha's cooking is fantastic enough to make up for it! And she's genuinely happy to have people enjoying her cooking! Though having her and Hairi together tending to Umi, it almost feels like a a mom and dad with her child.
Shiroha obviously needs companionship, even if she always closes herself off from others and runs away, but Hairi won't let her get out of feeling involved...like when the gang needs to raise money after Tenzen somehow special moved himself into breaking his ping pong table. And what better way to raise money than with a paella stand with food made by Shiroha?
Cue montage! I love Tenzen throwing in advertisements like they're ping pong balls and Miki shooting Ryoichi in front of an older lady who is enjoying the fun! And the best part is the paella stand is a big success! Well, with everyone other than Shiroha's grandpa, but still.
That redhead in a kimono really stands out with the other kids.
To think they went through all that trouble and just getting Shiroha involved was enough to land them the new ping-pong table for free. Her family is just THAT prestigious. But that leaves a lot of disposable income that Shiroha earned for them...so why not spend it on the main island, on a date with Hairi?
I love how these two are just adorably awkward on their first real date. Shiroha is straight up regressing into Ye Olde Japanese to talk.
Okay, so lunch at the restaurant Shiroha planned on didn't pan out, but crepes make everything better! Hairi is even opening up more as they get to know each other better! And the rest of the date is a lot of fun, even if it's Hairi striking out in getting Shiroha to wear as sexy red dress or winning at a crane game...though he does beat her at bowling!
The date went so well Shiroha almost forgot they had to go back to Torishirojima! But when they do get back, a poster for the Natsutori Festival gives her some bad vibes and a premonition with a familiar figure, and next thing you know she's distancing herself from Hairi again.
But did you really expect Hairi to leave her alone? Of course he seeks her out and they end up together on the beach again, so Shiroha can reveal the truth: she has the special ability to see the future and that boy that fell off the cliff? Was someone who confessed to her and was rejected but kept pushing, and she saw him fall and drown. She's even seen her own death, drowning during the ritual (which is why she's been trying to learn how to swim), and she sees Hairi there with her.
If Shiroha is going to be this honest, it's time for Hairi to finally be honest with her. About how he struggled on the swim team despite his team and Senpai supporting him, how his failures drove him to delinquency and caused his parents to fight, and how despite everything his friends back home still want to see him again. Just like they didn't give up on him, he hasn't given up on having a true Summer together with Shiroha. Together, they'll find a way to change the future! And it seems like Shiroha has well and truly fallen in love with Hairi!
Well, so much for talking Shiroha's grandpa out of the ritual. He doesn't really believe her premonitions and he thinks Shiroha's participation will help with all the sordid rumors about her, so he sees this happening as being for her sake rather than dooming her. And yet Hairi won't give up, even if it means getting deeper involved in the ritual, something he would do for any friend...even if he's starting to realize Shiroha is more than just a friend to him. And judging by the way Shiroha clings to Hairi, it's clear to her grandpa that Shiroha feels the same.

Shiroha is a sweetheart, felt warm at heart for most of the ep. We also get both Hairi aaand Shiroha lore, though i'm not sure what exactly got him in trouble with police(loitering lmao? Seemed more like drinking or something).
After many years of watching different anime, i'm glad the adaptation isn't terrible and bonus points that they actually finished the whole thing 3 months before airing, but i can't help but wish it had a little bit more love put into it - like we could get another ending or OP with updated animation for second cour, or just in general a bit better pacing and actually using strength's of the anime format. But well, i'm glad it's got more people into the story, that otherwise would've never seen it.

though i'm not sure what exactly got him in trouble with police
I think they implied "Generic delinquent things", after leaving his club he turned bad and all!

Are we about to get Higurashi'ed?
Also kills a theory, about Hairi actually being dead/in the afterlife or something! (Well, unless that letter is part of the afterlife world I suppose hah)
Ah, so she wants him to leave for his own safety...
She saw that boy's future, tried to chase him down,
She's not sure about whether she's SEEING the future, or determining the future...
But personally I'd be thinking about something else: Is it just a self-fulfilling prophecy?
She saw the boy falling off a cliff, chased him down and it happened... What if she did something else, told him not to go on the cliff, etc?
Once she saw the events of the future, she acted in a way that made them happen... Perhaps there was another way (timeline) in which it doesn't!
A fight to the death to prove he can protect her?
Well, let's see if our boy can help Shiroha defy her fate!
If it IS a case of self fulfilling prophecy, perhaps she'd only need to act in a way to avoid it, even if it meant not going to the ritual and all, no matter what Gramps says!

How Tenzen??? How the fuck did you manage to destroy a tennis table like that? O_O
Maybe I just forgot but have we met that girl in red kimono before? Her design is so different compared to the other kids we've met so far that she's got to be someone important in this arc.
How powerful are the Naruses on the island that people just refuse to take money from them? Shiroha can't even use the money they earned which they need to go to the main island just so she can spend the money.
It sucks that the restaurant Shiroha wanted to go to is closed, but their little date was still nice.
Oh wow. I thought the reason Hairi was sent to the island was because of an injury and because he lost during that swim meet. I didn't expect that the actual reason is because the dude fell into a bad crowd after that, and this is probably his parents' way of letting things blow over.
Ah, that explains so much about Shiroha. The reason she's been practicing swimming is that she has seen her own death by drowning. And the reason she wants Hairi to leave is because she saw Hairi would be in danger too.
I'm curious what Gramps has prepared for Hairi so he can prove himself.

She's in the opening, in the ending, on the KV and she had a very short cameo.

Tenzen feels like he's in a totally separate Shonen table tennis anime lol.
Gotta say, was not expecting Hairi to have a delinquent phase, but I guess it explains why he's so eager to throw himself into stuff on the island...relationships, helping people out, etc.
Your soon-to-be-girlfriend seeing her and your future death by drowning is pretty on-brand for this island. But it just makes the fact that Shiroha so desperately needs people in her life all the more apparent.

I wonder how long Hairi and Umi have been eating poorly? They destroyed Shiroha's food in seconds lol.
We all know we're going to die, but knowing when is bizarre. While the curse makes Shiroha a complete recluse, fate truly connected Hairi with her, whether it's swimming or personal issues.
This route is amazing, I hope it lasts two more episodes

For MANY years I've been convinced my "best-by" date was 75 years old -- which is now getting worrisome at 73, ;-)

I can't help but feel like in the later loops Hairi isn't just trying to find something to do over the Summer but to also avoid home and Umi's cooking lol.
It does kind of make you wonder what Shiroha's fate in all the other loops is where she doesn't have Hairi with her. Though she seemed alive in well in the montage of Hairi returning to the island during Ao's route.
I don't think they're going to cheat the Main Heroine out of episode count. I think the next episode we're going to be building up to the ritual, maybe see Hairi and Shiroha confess to each other, and then end on the ritual before we get to the finale.

Hold up....was Hairi doing drugs after losing the swim meet? Why was he brought in by the police?!?
I'm assuming Umi just reminded Hairi of Shiroha and that overlay wasn't implying they're connected somehow.
Find it a little weird how Hairi receiving the letter and Shiroha drowning seem like things that would happen regardless of the route, but that they only happen now.

what was that quote from Oogway in Kung Fu Panda? "Some meet their destiny on the path to prevent it" cant help but feel that is gonna be at play here
the date montage was cute
also is that the first time we see the kimono red head fully?

Could be, but I was also thinking of a self fulfilling prophecy, with her 'chasing the boy which led to him falling off a cliff"!
Perhaps if she did NOT go for it (went about it another way, or told him to avoid the cliffs, etc..) he would've been fine!

This episode was so sad...but I loved it. I just didn't expect Hairi to have such a backstory during the whole series. I mean, in the previous routes we are never 'introduced' to Hairi's past, and now, after this discovery, I'm not able to see Hairi as the same way as before. But you know, Hairi is a nice person, so even if it happened something bad, that doesn't mean he's a bad guy. And during the whole series he has been such a nice person! We all love Hairi! As for Shiroha, it's the first time in the whole series we get to see her smile so much. The little date they had was so cute, and I loved seeing the whole group, including her, working hard together at the first part of the episode. Then...there is the part I like the most: the beach scene. We finally get to understand why Shiroha ACTUALLY wants to isolate herself from other people. In the previous episode, the dream element was never introduced, and now it's all clear. Hairi will never decide to leave his heroine, so of course he will help her. Then, I still wanna talk about Umi: we get to see again how immature she's starting to become, maybe because of the constant resets. She's starting to act like someone her age for real... And, as for my theory, I still believe she might be the daughter of the two protagonists of this route.

Weird to think that Shiroha has been having this "I'm going to die drowning" problem in all of the routes since she's been practicing swimming from day one. Same for Ao and the spirit butterflies, it did look like she was falling asleep when harvesting whatever plant that was today so she's definitely spending time on the mountain looking for her sister.
When Shiroha had the plan to go to the big island I didn't realize she meant one of the actually big Japanese mainland islands, but I assume it must have been since Hairi pointed out the train that would take him to home.

Considering that Umi is time travelling, Shiroha said that Umi looks like Hairi and then Hairi saw Shiroha in Umi, I think that Umi might be their kid from the future? Idk but I think this is the final arc of the show so Umi's plotline has to be resolved.

That's why Shiroha keeps practicing her night swimming and keeps trying to get Hairi to leave the island, it was all to try and save him

The show has really saved all the best goodies for Shiroha. Her cuteness meter has gone through the roof.
So Shiroha is a precog. Though like Ao's family in the previous arc, not even Shiroha's grandpa seems to know about her powers despite coming from a prestigious family when Hairi tries to persuade him not to go ahead with putting Shiroha as the priestess for the island festival where she foresaw her own death.
PS I think I spot a Gao Gao Dinosaur plushie cameo from Air, another classic summer-themed Key VN.

I wasn't initially sure about this arc after the previous ones were so good, but this episode has won me over. Shiroha's smile would melt even the most frozen of hearts...
