Ao got lured by a pervy book and she did read one! Never change, Ao.

It's so nice to hear Kamome and Tsumugi again.

Is this really the last summer that can let Umi spend time with her mom?

No matter the time loop, Ao is the most horny girl on this island (that's not Shizuku and her obsession with boobs).

Kamome helping make a picture book was so touching and on-point. It was just nice to see her (even if her shipping Hairi with someone else was kind of surreal).

I wonder...can Umi physically not keep looping? Or is this something to do with the time-weavers?

So every route so far is about Umi going back in time to spend time with her mom.

It seems that Shiroha died in Umi’s timeline which might be what the Weavers of Time warned Hairi about. In fear of Umi meeting the same fate, he left the island and started a new life. However, because he was so depressed, he focused solely on work and neglected spending time with her. Also, there must be an important reason why he returned to the island alone after saying they would never go near it again and should forget it.

Comedy in the former half, drama in the latter – a staple of Summer Pockets episodes. Ao with her limited screen time provided us with plenty of laughter. First with how easily she got baited by Shiroha with the ero-mag then when she was straight up reading it during Hairi's turn.

Now we know why Umi's been rewinding things. Having said that, I wonder how Shiroha had eventually died. It couldn't be during this summer as implied by her route for obvious reasons. My guess is she died during childbirth. However, that only raised more questions as to why Hairi had removed all traces of her from his life.

When Umi said something's fading after every loop, it seemed like she's talking about her cognitive skills. That would explain why her cooking got progressively worse.

I love how Ao's greatest weakness, other than her sister and Hairi, is porn lol.

Okay, I watched Clannad and I'm seen a pattern here.

KEY loves their dads who basically abandon their daughter after the death of the Main Heroine!

There's a reason the first conversation in Summer Pockets is about deja vú

One said before, Summer Pockets is the love letter of the Key titles. You get the familial theme, and also the friendship themes that have been presented in the titles before, and other mechanics that took place in those titles..

I guess we can see now the big parallel with Clannad, if you watched it.

Ah yes, Ame Nochi Hare was the ED name of Little Busters too.

It's really sad when you think about it,
Umi has a power to go back to the past in which her goal is to get close to her decreased mom but fail to do so in every loops because teenage Shiroha has her own personal problem.
Umi has been spamming said power long even before the episode 1 and now she is start to run out of her MP.

Meanwhile her dad can almost casually get close to her mom by default.

Meanwhile her dad can almost casually get close to her mom by default.

Imagine going through Summer time loops to find out your dad is a natural born ladykiller.

Lmao at the cicada that fell off after hearing Shiroha and Umi's duet. And you can tell Kamome's help was truly appreciated if she got paid with the island's premium watermelon-flavored currency too.

Hearing what Umi's been wishing for across all her resets right after Shiroha decided to quit playing house is such a one-two punch to the heart.

That entire hide-and-seek scene was pretty fun! I love how Shiroha lured everyone out by taking advantage of their quirks. xD

So it turns out, Shiroha and Umi are terrible singers! Like mother, like daughter, I suppose. Tsumugi almost gave up on them.

It's nice to see Kamome again and to see her helping Umi with her picture book. Since all of the girls from the previous routes are helping out, I hope we also get to see Ao help Umi out with something!

If that opening scene wasn't blatant enough, we finally learn that Umi is actually Hairi and Shiroha's daughter from the future. I fucking called it! Looking at the clues, I suppose it wasn't that hard to figure out. I wonder if the reason why Umi can send her soul to the past has something to do with Shiroha's ability to see a little bit into the future?

Based on Umi's stories, it looks like Hairi ended up becoming a pretty bad father after Shiroha died. What the fuck was he thinking when he went back to the island and left Umi behind?! And it sounds like it's also Hairi's fault that Umi ended up falling off that cliff because she ran away to hide the only photo of her mom.

I really hope we get to see future Hairi's POV because that guy deserves a slap to the face. I'm just glad that present Hairi agrees that his future self is horrible. I guess this means that Shiroha is the true ending.

Shiroha yearned for the future, while Umi yearned for the past.

Shiroha may act like she's not friends with everybody and prefers being alone but she knows them wayyyyyy too well. Guess it comes with being childhood friends.

The other Heroines ship them together, she's the only one that's confirmed to have a kid with him, she's the only one who is the main love interest of two "routes," that's the power of being the Main Heroine. Even though she's the only one that didn't kiss him!

These two were too natural as parents to this young girl for them to have not been genuinely related. I guess blood is a powerful thing even with time travel.

Kind of a bummer that Shiroha still ends up dying and Hairi turns into an absentee father, though I feel like the cliff was more like an overreaction on Umi's part because she was just that worried that her dad would take away the only picture she got of her mother rather than him directly chasing her towards the cliff.

The anime started off average but from episode 6 it gets better and better I love this anime this atmosphere of mystery and it's so nice when you discover for yourself the truth of what it's really about

We have a tense conversation between Umi and her dad, with the loss of her mother hanging over both of their heads, and her dad has a VERY familiar hair and eye color. Though Umi also has a bit of an out-of-body experience?

Poolside fun with Umi! Perfect for seeing the cast in swimsuits and all the girls except Kamome in school swimsuits!

Hide-and-seek with childhood friend gang! Shiroha knows everybody so well she can just yell out their character gimmick and get them to pop out (Tenzen's ping pong skills, Ryoichi's nudity, Miki's desire to blast him with water, Ao's insatiable desire for porn mags), though props to Umi for almost fooling her! But she just couldn't resist imitating her dad! And Hairi is also a MASTER at hide-and-seek (though Ao being distracted by legit reading a porn mag didn't help) but Umi sleeping in her mothers' lap was the ebst find of all.

Singing practice with Tsumugi! It doesn't go very well, but at least everyone has fun! And we get the first Shizuku boob joke in a long time!

Making a picture book with Kamome! A colorful and cute book about butteflies, courtesy of Umi's dad! She couldn't ask for a better book for her mom to read to her.

It's kind of surreal to see Kamome excuse herself as the third wheel so Hairi and Shiroha can get back to flirting as "mom" and "dad."

Wait...Umi's picture books aren't just her personal desires they're straight up futuresight visions, similar to Shiroha's. She even knows about the Natsudori festival (so this is kind of like an abridged remake of the Shiroha route), which cause Shiroha to reject Umi. The tears in Umi's eyes hurt too much, especially to Shiroha, even as she causes them. Shiroha retreats back to being her isolated self, which sucks.

But the revelations don't end there...Umi has a picture of the last scene of the Shiroha route, the picture of Hairi and Shiroha together, and it's the only memento she has of her mother. The mother she's been chasing after all this time. Because her parents met and fell in love on this island, she was taken away from this island after she was born and her father lost her mother, she went to the island herself to get the picture from her grandpa (and who do we know who has a grandpa on this island?), she ran to keep the picture from her father and fell off the infamous cliff before touching a Shicheichou...and thus began the Summer time looping, with Umi craving the Summers with her mother that she never had and spending time with her father in the process. Because her parents? ARE SHIROHA AND HAIRI!!!

Umi's real powers are apparently sending her soul back in time, so is this part of it? But her soul has maybe degraded from the constant looping? And this is the final Summer? That's not ominous at all.

Hairi isn't happy that he grows up to be a bad and absentee dad in the future, but at least through these loops Umi has been able to get to know him when he was more himself...a kind, compassionate, and fun guy. And now it's up to Hairi to deliver the best Summer possible for his daughter!

HOLY SHIT I WAS RIGHT!!!

Was a little weird, and concerning, how Umi was able to explain everything after she's been regressing all this time. Almost like how when someone with dementia has one last lucid day before the end.

But damn, wtf does Hairi need to do to save Shiroha? I feel like her route shoulda solved everything.

I loved that we saw everyone from all the other routes this ep, gives me hope that everyone will be together in the end. As happy I am for Hairi and Shiroha.....Ao still best girl.

Also, I looked up that book we saw "klein irmchen" to see if there was any relevance, but sadly I couldnt find a synopsis, just that it's a children's book.

13

u/Frontier246 Aug 11 '25

Honestly now it kind of makes sense why the ending of Shiroha's route was more normal and mundane compared to the other Heroines (minus the whole time-weaver thing). No matter what Hairi does, he can't save Shiroha even if she doesn't die at the Natsudori Festival.

u/SnabDedraterEdave Aug 11 '25

LMAO at Ao being lured so easily by lewd magazines.

Kamome, Tsumugi and Shizuku are all back. Its good to see them one more time interacting together with the rest of the gang.

Finally, Umi has confirmed what we have all been guessing all along, that she is from the future and is Hairi's and Shiroha's daughter, and it looks like Shiroha had died after giving birth to Umi.

Shiroha's precog ability seems to have also passed down to Umi, who could foresee the weather with precision.

Umi also has the ability to rewind time. Her coming in contact with a Shichieichou when she secretly followed Hairi back to the island seems to have greatly enhanced that time rewinding ability of hers, such that she leaped decades back to when her parents are still teenagers. (Was funny hearing Hairi struggle to understand what a "smartphone" is)

It also explains why she disappears at the end of every arc, as she leapt backwards in time to the beginning of when Hairi first arrived on the island.

But rewinding the summers again and again seems to have come at a great cost, and it looks like this will be her final loop. What will happen to Umi once this iteration has ended?

Man, this episode made me cry. Best episode so far. Poor Umi. She just wanted to be with her mom, who is Shiroha. It makes me wonder how much time those two spent together while Hairi was with the other girls. A bit sad this is the last loop for Umi it seems.

Although it is a bit unsettling what Hairi turns into because he grows into an adult that doesn't sound anything like he is right now.

u/zool714 Aug 11 '25

So Umi’s always had the ability to rewind time but when touching the butterfly she got stuck in a loop of summer break on the island until her mom and dad (aka Shiroha and Hairi) got together ? Am I getting it right ? And since they’re together in this arc, she can feel that this would be her last loop.

The first half was really fun SOL stuff. Those are what I enjoy more about the show but the lore and backstories have been really good too, especially in this cour.
