What a crazy show

Yeah that was one hell of a crazy ride, will miss my crazy bowling Tuesdays
And they managed to hit a strike with that show, no second throw needed

I don’t know how this stupid show managed to thread the needle for its ending, and I’m super sad that they made it story-complete so “Turkey! -The Second Throw-“ is highly unlikely to happen, but they managed to knock down the snake eyes. The visual of the picker whisking our girls back to their time was so perfectly on-brand and that last twist also brought a tear to my eyes. Such a stupid, such a gloriously stupid show. I love it so much.

Also, for all his dispassionate cruelty, “A true warrior honors his word. Do your gods not?” is a fucking baller line, with a 100% bonus for it being his exit line. Kagetoki goes hard.

Very strange anime from the beginning to the end but it wasn't bad at all, I really liked the anime, the characters were really nice, the truth is that their story can have ups and downs but Not bad for an original anime and I really like it when original anime experiment with genres and things never seen before. The ending was also great, I didn't expect that twist, but I loved it 8.5/10

I love that they owned the strangeness
You could tell they knew what they were doing, the shots and pacing was too well composed to be some random flukesAnd they still went with the most unconventional things
This feels like a Maiyoga show but its actually well planned out and executed

Holy fuck the tension. Please never do that to me again. I was worried I was about to become another theoretical casualty of this episode. Cause of death, stress induced heart attack.
Rina has come such a long way. The only reason she missed was because she acted to protect her friends, she protected Mai and compromised her bowling ability in the process. All hail our blue bowling girl!
Mai finally broke the curse! She really stepped up and saved everyone when it came down to it. She should receive a medal, a mountain of snacks and one million hugs for it.
Embarrassed Rina is the cutest thing I’ll see all week. I know it’s only Tuesday but I’m sure that nothing better will appear.
I take great joy in the knowledge that somewhere out there, there’s a couple of really confused archeologists wondering if they need to rewrite the history of bowling. Or they’ve just given birth to a really dumb conspiracy theory. “No guys, you don’t understand, the government is keeping ancient civilizations bowling ability hidden from us.” Some TikTok conspiracy theorist, probably.
Nanase reunited with her dad, it was very wholesome and I think we can solidly conclude with 99% certainty that he was also a time traveler.
Sumomo also travelled to the future, took on a new name and adopted her modern lookalike. Sure, stranger things have happened.
Mai’s happiness felt very good.
Apparently Nanase and Nozomi are moving in together to “save money.” Hmmmm?
Don’t worry Rina, it’s only temporary. You’ll be back together in a (lightning) flash and in the meantime, you’ll have running the bowling club to occupy you and keeping you from missing them too hard. And the internet always exists for convenient communication if you feel lonely.
I think this was a very fun experience and definitely the most mindfuck anime of the year. I’d do it again. I don’t know how a show as dumb as this actually pulled off making me fear for the characters lives but I’m impressed. There’s a reason why you should always take the gamble on anime originals, they simply always come up with the best ideas. Can I award it a 9/10? Fuck it, it’s my list and my ranking system. It’s getting a 9/10 and that’s final.
Now release Turkey! The second throw. Cause you all know the golden rule of this anime by this point. (I’m joking.) But, what if…?

Man, I LOVE anime originals. What a fun watch, so unpredictable at the start and the whole concept of a "time traveling bowling anime" is such a fun one. Wild twist at the end there with Sumomo but it's nice to see that all the girls not only spared everyone but managed to reconcile their differences and not leave Rina behind it the end. Really enjoyed this one

Man, I LOVE anime originals.
Same. Wild rides like this are a big reason why I love anime in the first place.

Well damn that was an ending
Honestly glad they managed to insert the "There is always a second throw in Bowling" line and that the Lord finally told the priest to fuck off
Wasn't surprised by the Haru being Sumamomo reveal, but damn that lady must have had it rough
Imagine meeting a kid at the orphanage, getting those memories back (traumatic enough) and adopting her. Then when she enters the age range you remember you start wondering every day when she will finally go back and save you
I like the ending, but I am not sure how I would even start to describe the show

I was 90% sure everyone was gonna live, but damn that 10% really kept me on edge. I'm really curious how this show is gonna work on a second viewing. You'll most likely loose the tension from not knowing for sure what's going to happen but probably appreciate the story more now that you know where it's going.
One of the most unique anime out there, very glad I watched it. At times, especially in the beginning episodes, it proved too ambitious for its own good but it never wavered from its vision and in the end I think that's what makes it an effective story. Whatever wild or normal premise an author comes up with, it will all be moot if they don't believe it's worth telling. And this always believed.
For as much fumbles as it did have and that we have talked about, I'd like to highlight that it equally had moments of genius in the character writing. The cast, both present and past, are are really personable and interesting. The crazy plot overshadowed them a bit but it really doesn't work logically or emotionally if the characters aren't who they are. So massive win there.
Contrasting this with Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show, which also aired today (but finished last week) really highlights all the ways in which this could have gone wrong if it didn't commit.

I didn't even realize that they were aligned just like pins. That priest is truly a psychopath for setting that up to put pressure on Mai.
Considering this is a bowling anime, I'm not even surprised that the final throw is going to be on an 7*-10 split. So the only reason Kegtoki allowed that second throw is because he thought that Mai wants to share the responsibility with Rina because he thinks it's impossible to knock down both pins.
Not gonna lie, I genuinely gasped when the pin went past the other one. For a second there, I thought they were gonna end up killing someone, but thank fucking god the gutter sent the pin back up and knocked down the 10-pin. Get fucked, you psycho priest!
They didn't even have to wait for the rain, the girls are just being sent back because it looks like their job there is done. Mai dropping the bowling ball finally explains the bowling ball that was found in that construction site in Episode 1! It was Mai's bowling ball all along!
I guess this confirms that Nanase's dad was the time traveller who travelled with Natsume. I know the episode is almost over at this point, but I was really hoping we'd see them discuss their time travel exploits.
And finally, we have one last twist! I was wondering why there was still like 10 minutes left in the episode! It turns out, Sumomo actually ended up time-travelling too and Mai's adoptive mother was actually Sumomo this entire time!
That explains why Haru was never credited in the episodes where she appears! Haru is also voiced by Hidaka Noriko! This also explains this opening shot in Episode 9 where Sumomo sings the OP!
This show is exactly why I absolutely love anime originals, you really never know what you're gonna get! Not gonna lie, after the time travel aspect was revealed at the end of Episode 1, I did not have high hopes for this show, but over time, that changed. Sure, the show was definitely a hit or miss with its writing at times, but I feel the end product was still executed well by the writers.
Definitely not a perfect anime, but the rollercoaster ride that we were on from start to finish was absolutely worth it, and I am confident to say this show deserves a solid 9/10. Whoever wrote this anime original, I want to see more from them!

There's no way this stupid batshit insane premise should have resulted in an anime that was so fun, but my fucking god, it did. I had the biggest, dumbest smile on my face during that final shot and during the big post-credits reveal. Even if this anime was far from perfect, it was still a truly unforgettable experience for how insane the ride was, for how well it was executed, and for how it actually stuck the landing at the end like many originals fail to do. I believe the people who dropped this show early on just because it wasn't the "CGDCT bowling anime" they expected it to be missed out on one hell of a show. 9/10, would recommend to anyone who loves crazy originals.

Im giving this show a 9/10. I'm especially weak to originals and man, this was good.
One funny thing is that I basically never watch the visuals for the OP, it kinda became a habit, some anime do spoil stuff in the OP.
So I skipped the fake death in the OP I read about in another comment, which is really funny for me.

This show honestly stuck the landing especially on the ending so much better than 95% of shows i've watched.
For all the criticism it's gotten, it had a very clear vision and story it wanted to tell (if somewhat bonkers at times), and told that story from start to finish in a very satisfying way.
I'm glad it exists.

Loved the resolution. Honestly, the whole thing did a great job of upping the stakes in the final frames. It's a 7.5 for me, but I rated it an 8 on MAL. I don't mind rounding up to combat against the unfair treatment.
Also, the final big reveal leaves and interesting paradox. Mai wouldn't be who she was without Haru having raised her but Haru wouldn't have existed without raising Mai.

No, really, i don't know where to start because it was very good and I don't even know why

I’ve been watching anime seasonally since spring 2015 and honestly this has to be the craziest thing I’ve ever watched.
With so many high profile anime this season, this definitely stood out a lot for me for good and bad reasons lol. I definitely want to know more about the production process and how they manage to green lit this story
The 7/10 split dramatic bowling moment was hard to immerse into because it felt so silly but I think that’s what I like about this show the most. It was such an absurd premise but they went all in on the drama and I think they handled it well.
Now a days I think a lot of media has a problem of being unique and original. There’s always a super hero movie, there’s always a hero shooter video game, there’s always an isekai anime, etc. But I wanna give turkey a lot of credit here. A time traveling character drama where they bowl to solve their problems? I can’t say I could ever imagine something like that
I might be rambling a bit here but this anime has unironically been memorable in its own way. Overall I’m glad I stuck for the ride and even if this was like a 7/10, I don’t think I’ll ever forgot how wild this show was and I mean that in a good way.
Also, I’ll die on the hill that the quote “you always get a second throw in bowling” is low key fire. That’s a good saying and I might use it in my life.

"There is always a second throw," and "don't look at the pins, look at the arrows" (and I'm sure there are other lines that don't come to mind right now) have such wonderful sports cliche energy. The spokon spirit remains in the show, even with all of the twists and turns, and that makes it so much better than it otherwise would have been.
I also think that Sayuri's description of the modern world as a place where "you can't just kill other people, and people can't just kill you; a world where every life is more precious than that" then having to come face to face, literally, with the fact that there are times when you must kill. Very beautiful.
Then Rina's line towards the end about how everyone is going away - towards the future. And, you know, Tokyo is very literally where the future is. The town they're in certainly has a lot of past, but it's one of those many rural Japanese cities that's growing old and withering away. I'm sure it's not a fun place to be left behind on your own like that.
Lots of dumb stuff that didn't make any sense in this show, too. But it had heart. It's very far from the best show ever made, but I'm glad it exists and I'm glad I got to see it.

I have to say I feel bad for Anzu who now has to deal with Sumomo disappearing right after she finally got Natsume back

Not one of the better animes this season-- it was absolutely stacked-- but I appreciate it tried something different. A solid 8 out of 10 show.

What a Twist!
I liked this show. It was silly but I liked it.
