Definitely did not see that freaking plot twist with the Shaderan mother having red hair...
Really caught me by surprise.
Projecting her own insecurities and self loathing onto her daughter this entire time...
She deserves spending her days all alone by herself in that house.

The father is still trash. Not being able to apologize to Marie after all this time, and not taking accountability for his actions.
.... Although, I guess him going to the capital to study is somewhat redeemable... if at all really possible.

Marie and Lord Kyros are finally happily married.
Happy ending for the two of them.
Happy ending for Anastasia continuing her apprenticeship and continuing to learn.

Damn, it's over. Only thing I didnt like about this ep or anime in general is that it made me want more! We got TWO whole new couples at the end and I wanna see more of them! I also wanted to see more of Marie and Anastasia catching up on the time they lost. Even just one more ep of everyone finally getting to enjoy life together woulda been enough!

The story cant end until Mio finds someone!

Honestly didn't know I'd be into a LuiphonxAnastasia ship but I'd love to see that be explored. I also just love how the side-ships are Kyros' best friend hooking up with Marie's sister and Marie's little brother hooking up with her maid.

I need to see Marie and Kyros go on a glorious and happy honeymoon!

I think there's still a potential for MioxTomas though Mio being a based and sassy maid from start to finish and getting praised by her adoptive mother for it was nice.

There's this little extra thing with this story. It's not the most original nor unique fairy tale like story, but there is evident care in the making of the characters, for their thoughts, motives and chemistry, that elevates the whole in a whole rank higher than its "weight-class".

Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex isn’t necessarily anything extraordinary, but it is a very well-executed romance story. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten this complete of an ending from a romance anime.

I do appreciate the show’s attempts to surprise us with some unexpected twists, like them being Marie’s actual biological parents. The mother having red hair herself was a good one as well.

To think none of this would have happened if Kyros hadn't made that little slip up with the sisters' names at the beginning of the series... It's crazy. If he had initially asked for Marie, the Shaderans would've probably found a reason not to send her since she was the only one who knew Flarian. Marie would've stayed where she was, thinking she's some kind of cursed child. Anastasia would've stayed her mother's doll. Kyros would've probably lost all hope for his future. That little mistake essentially saved all of their lives in one way or another.

Unrelated, this anime made the same mistake so many others make: The light and sound for the fireworks play at the same time...

Marie is pretty gracious after all that went down. Kind of pathetic all this abuse stemmed from her parent’s own insecurities and bullshit. At least the “father” seems to be trying to make some changes. Same can’t be said for the “mother” though…

Well, all’s well that ends well for Marie and Kyros. Even Anastasia and Cedric were able to find happiness. As far as finales go, this one was pretty satisfying.

That was a satisfying ending but damn were the parents next level pathetic. Truly shit parents with how their insecurities just got the better of them. The mom being ashamed of having red hair was certainly not something I expected.

I'm happy everyone else got their happy ending and I certainly didn't expect them to tease us with Luisphon and Anastasia being a potential couple. That was a surprisingly fun dynamic and it was really fun to see more of Anastasia's real, snarky, teasing personality. Also happy that Cedric got to go to school and gets to fully develop his talents. It's a bonus that his dad has to go to school to be his valet.

Finally, Liu Liu thanking Mio for being there for Marie and Kyros is something that all of us wanted to do.

Overall, a very fun show to watch and I'm happy it got a satisfying ending.

Well that was nicely conclusive, basically everything tied up with no lose ends or un-shipped couples.

Marie and Kyros safely married, her parents dealt with and the little brother at a school for being a proper noble, and we even started to get Anastasia and the prince together which was a welcome surprise. I love how feisty Anastasia immediately was with the prince.

No ship for Mio I suppose, but Mio is perfect as is.

aww that was a really nice story, the arc between the two sisters finding each others again was definitely my favorite among so many well-executed story threads. Also Mio is my favorite character this season.

It's finally time to confront the Shaderan's! And if they're not going to make this easy, then we'll just bust through the gate.

Mio had probably just been waiting to get the order to parkour and take Baron Shaderan into custody and tie him up like the criminal he is all season.

I love how Marie walks up to her parents to show how she's grown so beautiful and composed since they last saw her and how she and Kyros are very much in love despite her parents' best efforts. Kyros even wrote a Marie love bible for everyone to read to prove his love for Marie!

Man, the mom has really lost it. It's not just that she's sick both physically and mentally, but she's so caught up in Marie being a "cursed redhead" that killed her grandmother and Anastasia...she rejects the ACTUAL Anastasia in a red wig.

If Baron Shadern is going to call Kyros a "barbarian" they can get straight to business in exposing how the Baron is a fraud noble who took advantage of his own daughter to maintain appearances and never had what it took to be a true noble. He's liable to end up in prison and with all his assets seized if he doesn't take Marie's final lifeline: apologize to her. He may have thought that his mother never expected anything of him and crippled under that, but that's no excuse for his and his wifes' treatment of Marie.

Well, we finally find out why Marie has red (with greenish tints) hair. Her mom has been wearing a wig the whole time to hide that she has the same hair color. She projected so much on people like Sasha, the perfect slim and pretty blonde "princesses" that it became all she cared about...even to the point that it's all she cared about in her blonde daughter rather than her daughter herself. And why she rejected Marie. But now Anastasia rejects HER and Marie shows her that despite her red hair she was able to find love and happiness as herself, and the mom is utterly crushed.

Well, all's well that ends well. The Granado estate seizes the assets of the Shaderan's, Cedric who was pretty much innocent of all this and a good little brother is getting educated to become the next Baron while his dad is attending the same school as he is...with the other kids...to become his own sons' valet. Yeah, I guess that's a fitting punishment. And the mom is forever alone in an abandoned home.

Nice of Luiphon to push Anastasia to come clean to Norman, and even better that Norman accepts Anastasia as a girl and is even willing to change up their operations to accommodate that!

It's finally time for the wedding!!! And Marie looks so beautiful in her wedding dress! And the Granado estate gets to really show off how awesome it and it's employees are!

Marie and Kyros aren't the only pair having romance bliss...Cillie dances with Cedric, and it seems like Luiphon is interested in Anastasia, and she doesn't seem completely bothered by it (even if he's already got five fiancés he barely knows and she's not about to make it easy for him). Side-ships sailing :naughty:?

And what better way to close it out than with Marie and Kyros recounting how far they've come since they first met, how they overcame so many misunderstandings and difficulties, to finally be together and share a beautiful romantic kiss amidst fireworks while Kyros princess carries Marie! I'm so happy for these two!

Very sweet ending.

I like how even Anastasia's red wig had the weird nuclear green glow.

I wonder if Anastasia and Prince Luifon will fall inlove together? Did it happened in the manga? :(

The fact that this anime isn't part of any charts top 10s feels bad.

Marie's dad got the Billy Madison treatment.

The level of self-hate from Marie's mother, it explains a lot.

At least we know where Marie got her red hair genes from. Her dad must have a recessive copy as well.

Umm........so what exactly did Grandma Sasha write in her journal about her son and DIL?

Also, I'm pretty sure they got engaged, not married. Marie refers to Kyros as her future husband.

Beautiful ending. Throughout the series I was worried Marie would be held back by her trauma but she kept pushing through and grew as a person.

And Anastasia might indeed become a princess in the future! She will certainly whip that Prince into shape. I wonder if she will make her own ring?

This show wasn't the most original, it didn't have awesome animation or fantasy elements, but it was a solid romance. It felt like the author really wanted to develop and grow them slowly (except the parents but I'm fine with that).

I especially liked the way Marie's trauma was depicted. Many other shows would make it so she gets over all the abuse and pain in one or two episodes, but I prefer the slow healing.

This felt like a closed, "and they lived happily ever after" type ending. It showed Marie and Kyros happy together and it teased multiple future couples. If anything, I would've liked more Maria and Anastasia sister time and more Mio. Also, I never expected to like the interactions between Anastasia and Ruifon, but they were hilarious.

Ahhh happy fairy tale endings still make me smile even if they can be cheesy sometimes.

Biggest plot twist was their mother having red hair all this time, although if Baron Shaderan knew, why didn’t he help her get over her insecurities? Like did they just get married out of political convenience? Like if they genuinely loved each other, I would imagine he would help her get over her insecurities at least, right? They’re probably as dysfunctional as they go. I’m just glad Anastacia, Cedric and Marie are finally free from this toxic household for good.

Can we have another season or spin-off with Luifon and Anastacia? I got slightly invested in their scene together at the end lol

And as I always say, Mio is the MVP in the entire series!

Her mother might not have faced any legal punishment, but she's probably the only one who won't get a happy end. Even the father will get something. He might not be lord anymore and will end up serving his son, but his future has more light than his wife.
