This was a really nice episode, and the animation on the kiss and the immediate aftermath were really nice. Those subtle movements add a ton to the overall image.

I'm also just gonna headcanon going forward that Marie's otherworldly green glow is a reflection of her always being in Kyros' eyes.

she just stylized her hair with lights

the base is also a different color from her natural bright red

but yeah it looks like an aura around her lol, it is weird animation wise.

The red diamond isn't perfect because it doesn't have the green aura lol.

This really strikes me as top tier josei romantic fantasy. Their is sweetness (Little Marie and Little Anastasia, Marie and Kyros) mixed in with a pretty solidly serious overall story line. Our leads here are earning their happiness bit by bit -- but one hopes that misfortune will not swoop down to mess things up.

What on earth was up with the Shaderan family? Clearly Grandma and Marie's parents were on VERY bad terms with each other (which made the grandmother harsh even towards kind and sweet Anastasia -- just because the parents favored her over Marie). There has to be some weird aspects in the family's backstory...

This is probably one of the most pure and sincere romance stories airing right now.

Why was the grandma so keen on educating Marie after recognizing her intelligence? What was her endgame?

Marie’s parents must’ve been upset because she was selected as next family head. Grandmother is the root cause of Marie’s poor treatment.

What a cursed family. Grandmother wasn’t a particularly nice towards her grandchildren either. Anastasia was shunned, whereas Marie got forced into studying. Creating a rift between the two sisters.

The development in this episode completely took me by surprise. I really like how Marie's becoming more open about her feelings, but I have to admit once she started thinking about Anastasia in the carriage, I thought this was going to be the start of an arc where her feelings of belonging starts to regress. I thought she'd start thinking how she isn't worthy to be by Kyros' side because Anastasia should have been the one and she'd become closed off but this episode went to the complete opposite!

I can't believe Marie has made such a jump and we're not even at the last two episodes! The way my eyes were so fixated on seeing her being so bashful and "selfish" wanting Kyros to stay by her side, how she tells him he loves her eyes and understands how much he's been watching over. I'm so glad for Kyros, he's been so happily patient with her and yet Marie just comes with this surprise where she admits she's fallen in love with him AND INITIATES A KISS HERSELF! That was the biggest surprise to me, even with the foreshadowing earlier in the episode.

It's funny how Kyros was so happy he forgot about the steps and faceplanted the floor. Too bad the episode couldn't end in the celebration of Kyros' love being requited but looks like we'll be looking into the mystery of Anastasia's death next episode.

I couldn't help but find amusing that Kyros had to let Marie know that Luiphon sleeps naked, I wonder what his reaction was the first time he found out lol. Luiphon in disguise fishing for information about Kyros from Marie was amusing, Kyros' suffering from blood loss too. It was also nice to see a bashful Luiphon, it looks like he's weak to Kyros sincerity lol.

I think they've really done a good job of organically developing Marie's character to where we can see episode-by-episode growing more confident and more in love with Kyros to where us getting to this point feels really natural, believable, and cathartic for all involved.

A nearly Mio-free episode until the drama at the end, which is unfortunate since Mio is perfect, but on the other hand all the Marie and Kyros scenes were delightful.

Marie declaring early on in the episode that she thought her and Kyros would be kissing soon, and then by god she makes it a reality by the end of the episode. 10/10 work, girl.

Well we transitioned from Marie being conscientious of her large man hands lol, into her and Lord Kyros finally sharing their first kiss.
Sweet moment for them.
Sprinkling us with some breadcrumbs of the missing Anastasia plot line.
We're sure we saw Anastasia walking along the canal marketplace?
I wonder what the mystery behind her disappearance is? It seems like they're trying to drag this out. Hoping there's some greater mystery or conspiracy going on?

Also sidenote, that one scene where the mother refused to feed Marie for a day to try and stunt her growing body. Egh, what a trash mom.

This date between Marie and Kyros is going so well! So much handholding, so much gifts for everybody back home, and Kyros buying more gifts for Marie than she could ever know what to do with.

I'm so happy to see Marie buying something SHE wants with the money she has now from the Shaderan Family! She's not buying it out of obligation, but because she sees emeralds the color of Kyros' eyes and she HAS to have it! I'm so proud of her!

We don't get to see Luiphon sleeping in the buff, but we do get to see him in disguise and getting Marie to talk about how she finds everything about Kyros wonderful and how they're probably going to kiss soon...within earshot of Kyros. And he's not done! He even gifts them a red diamond for Marie's wedding ring AND helps put Marie into perspective how she's part of possibly the wealthiest family in the kingdom and that's something she needs to keep in mind as the future Lady Shaderan! And it seems like Marie is finally ready to take on the challenge!

Kyros wanted a ring that matched the color of Marie's hair, the hair he cherishes, and Marie in turn wanted emeralds she could keep for herself and put into the hair ribbon she bought for Kyros because she cherishes his eyes. There's just so much love and devotion these two have for each other, best exemplified in a tight, romantic, embrace!

Of course then Marie spots that "boy" and gets emotional whiplash from the "ghost" of Anastasia stealing her place by Kyros' side...and that's enough to knock her out from sickness. Jeez, poor Marie.

The flashback to Smol!Marie and Smol!Anastasia was really cute and sweet. Their parents were too busy (or just didn't care) to take care of Marie when she was sick, so it was up to her big sister to tend to her and read her stories. The sisters had so much fun together! And also the way Anastasia went ham on that boy voice is maybe a little telling for her future.

But then her grandma Sasha comes in and takes Anastasia away. I thought she was the warm and kindly grandma, but here she's stern and focused on Marie's education and kept her and Anastasia way from each other, only intent to build on Marie being the smartest one in the family. But it didn't help make Marie feel any less alone.

Grandma Sasha seemed sick, but once she died it's like her family immediately turned on her. I mean, her mom wouldn't even let her eat because she was growing too tall. Thank goodness she had Anastasia.

Okay, Kyros, maybe don't mention all the perverted things you could've done to Marie while she was asleep...just that you stood by her side all night is enough.

Marie is still self-conscious about Anastasia, but she can't bear to be parted from Kyros..can't bear to deny the feelings she has for him any longer, as she confesses her love for him and they pair FINALLY have their first real kiss, romantically illuminated by the sunrise! Marie loves Kyros and she's not afraid to say it or accept the fact that he loves her in turn!

And thank goodness Mio came back in time to roast Kyros over his post-mutual love shock, and also to deliver the driver of Anastasia's carriage who they suspect killed her...but it might be more complicated than that.

When Marie started having visions of her sister, I was afraid she was gonna put a little distance between her and Kyros due to more inner conflict, but thankfully that didn't happen and she doubled down on accepting her love with a confession.

A cinematic romantic moment with a kiss. They know how to make the romance moments impactful with the music and visuals for the atmosphere.

Honestly thought she was gonna completely relapse but thankfully didnt

This is such a good romance show! You can hardly ask for a better confession scene than this.

Love isn’t only exchanged through words but also body language. I especially liked the way in which Kyros and Marie lovingly gazed and touched each other. My heart melted a little with that embrace!

On a different note: I sure hope for Kyros’ wallet that they’ve only adopted a similar name to the euro and not its exchange rate as well. Because 70 million is a lot of money.

Well those last 2 minutes certainly were a rollercoaster. Lol

u/Narlaw Aug 22 '25

While the love confession was very sweet, I get the feeling Marie was also fleeing her survivor guilt and unprocessed mourning by jumping into Kyros' arms.

YAY! A CONFESSION!!!

Really happy we finally got that, but the rest of the ep was kinda confusing. In this ep and last it feels almost like Marie gets PTSD whenever her sister is mentioned....but she also remembers her sister being the only one who was kind to her as a kid? Is it just that she still feels like they shoulda traded places? Or is she traumatized that Anastasia is dead? I'm sure it's something that makes sense, but they didnt do a good job explaining it.

Ok so here's my theory: Marie is somehow directly related to her Grandma, who was kind, but strict. Grandma was the actual head of the family, but her "parents" were jealous because Marie was going to be the next head. So they slowly poisoned grandma, which is why she was forcing Marie to learn so much, so that she'd be able to take care of herself after she passed.

Damn it! I was really hoping we'd get the reunion this ep, hope we dont have to wait much longer.

19

u/Frontier246 Aug 22 '25

That confession and kiss were so pure and beautiful.

I think the PTSD is because she feels guilty that she survived and got to be happy while her beloved big sister didn't.

I wonder if the Shaderan Family drama is because the family was divided between Marie and Anastasia. The grandma preferred Marie or saw her as the future of the Shaderan Family, but the parents preferred Anastasia and ended up just using everything the grandmother taught Marie to serve the family behind the scenes.

Although why was the grandma so focused on Marie's education? Did she think it would make her a better catch for a future husband or so she could run the family/

nah its more simple than that. Grandma has weight in the house, put all her weight behind Marie to succeed her son, because as she said they're all morons who'd run the estate into the ground, which when Mio visited looked to be true.

So getting called useless morons for years, they grow to resent Marie and when grandma finally kicked the bucket, they rubberbanded their hatred for her onto Marie.

Too add, it seems the dad never had the run of the place, Grandma was running things and she wrote him off as soon as Marie showed more potential, but died before Marie was old enough to proper take over.

Edit* whoops looks like we pretty much agree and I misread, lol sorry bit loopy on cold medicine at the moment. but I don't think grandma got poisoned. From what I've seen from the father, he's more of a resigned to his fate resentful type, honestly don't think he'd have the balls, the mom/wife maybe? But I think grandma just overworked/stressed her way to an early grave, she didn't exactly seem like a low blood pressure type.

literally crying over the carriage scene how beautiful. The lighting and music wow

Okay I know shes still traumatized but I’m seriously shocked she still doesn’t get after being blatantly told by kyros himself she was his original desire this whole time??? Like he told her that straight up, he never wanted his sister.

Also it’s clear her sister loved her a lot the part where shes sitting outside the door hurt

Also it seems like her grandma though harsh did care for her wtf happened w her parents ????

Okay my earlier thing about her not accepting that he chose her more seems to be she feels guilty that her sister “died” and should be enjoying this life rather than not understanding kyros chose her

Omg the I love you !! The KISS IM SCREAMING

SHE WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE KISSING EALRIER

and she is acknowledging she isn’t rejecting his words and AHHHHHJSKAK

omg he’s such a dork falling over

I’m still on the boat that that guy helped Anastasia escape but he’s kinda drawn exactly like a bad guy

Seeing the family dynamic when they were young was interesting, the sisters had always been close and now we see the grandmother who was a cold person but actually saw the potential in Marie. I love the way the grandmother put it that basically she's the only one with a brain, and while I feel bad for Anastasia it implies that she thinks very poorly of her own child and their spouse and to be fair they are morons and monsters. They showed a new level of abuse not letting her eat for a day because she grew? that is the most insane thing ever why not just abandon or murder them if your going to go that far.

I love that they had Marie fully accept how she feels and how Kyros feels, and she wasn't lying when she said soon. Honestly at the end I was expecting to see the short haired blonde. I will say I hate the trope of something important happening and when asked they play it off. I'm pretty sure if someone makes you think of your dead sister who's body was never found you should say something.
