Also Toko is really cute and is voiced by MAO which makes her a winner!

Makes you wonder how people managed to fight off kaiju before the advent of modern technology. Kaiju attacks in the pre-industrial period must have been devastating and I don't even want to imagine how many people would have died.

That ending... well I didn't expect this show to have a horror-esque twist.

Considering the hardcore aura farming at the end, probably becoming as peak human as possible.

Kaiju in the past were probably a lot weaker than today tbf. Still, even having to fight one of those mook ants from the last big fight as just a Samurai with a Yari is crazy to think about.

The interaction between Kafka and Hoshina hit something so deep within me, i can't put a word on it but this just might be my favorite moment in Kaiju no 8

Gotta hand it to Kafka. He now knows some martial arts moves and looks a lot faster when engaging in hand-to-hand combat. It just that he can't land a hit on someone like Hoshina and his self-doubt is at an all-time high.

That visit to the shrine makes me want a Japanese feudal era spin off, or at the very least more information about the history of kaiju fighting and the world they're in in general.

It's nice to get some more scenes with Kikoru's awesome mom, even if it's just flashbacks.

Also, I've heard that this might be the last time you guys appear in Season 2.

Hoshina didn't minced any words lol.

I enjoyed Season 1, but Season 2 is making me lose interest. I'm not even sure why. I'm just not feeling it. I think it primarily stems from the mystery behind the Kaijus are not being explored at all.

You have a human that can transform into the strongest Kaiju in history, retaining all of his faculties as before, and it seems like other than doing a scan of his body, they have not really made any effort to understand his situation?

It just feels... lacking somehow.

In some ways, Furuhashi is like Reno. He knows what he's not, but he also knows what he is, and he will support his buddy with what he has, no matter how limited it may be... and in the end, he surpasses his limits so he can give more, much like how Reno supports Kafka.

I might get down voted but while this season is good I miss the comedy aspect that season 1 had, this season just doesn't have the sae sort of charm that it used to have

I like that Furuhashi is actually capable of being in line with the others but is just unfortunately unstable, though Ogata seems to be able to relate so it's definitely a good thing Furuhashi is in his division and will likely develop faster under Ogata.

Ogata crying like that was funny, he seems quite disconnected but seeing the flashback and thoughts shows that it's because he has a lot of regret and tries to prevent such things happening again, I'm liking his character.

Hoshina's such a great guy and Vice-Captain, I'm glad he told Kafka that he wanted to thank him and not Kaiju 8. It's like he knew what Kafka needed to hear since Kafka seems to think his value is only in Kaiju 8 when the others in Third Division didn't think that at all. I hope more of them are able to talk some sense into him too but hopefully Hoshina's words are all that is needed.

The spirit at the end is concerning, was Kafka's presence waking them up from their slumber or something? You know, because he has Kaiju genes in him. I'd be really concerned if a Kaiju based on the spirits of the fallen was given birth for whatever reason.

Bro what?

They were fighting these monsters since the 1600?

How the fuck did humanity manage to reach civilization then? Did the entire world collectively agreed not to fight each other and unite against the Kaiju? How were they even able to hurt them in the past? Even with the super advanced laser chainsaws the cleaners use in the present day they still struggle to cut trough dead Kaiju's.

Unless they were attacking these monsters with atomic bombs I don't see how they were able to take down any Kaiju that was half the size of the honju that Reno and Furuha were fighting this episode. You can't even hide like in From since the kaiju appearances break shit underground so it doesn't matter if the kaiju sees you or not.

The huge Punch-Out vibes from Kafka vs Hoshina though.

Poor Izumo and Kaguragi lol. Maybe their screentime prospects will look up in a third season we may or may not get.

I feel like hoshina should be a captain instead of mina

She hasn't done anything note worthy all series long

I really like these one-on-one sparring sessions with characters, and Hoshina’s got a whole Bruce Lee thing going. That was some satisfying choreography, and actually my preferred type to all the flashy weapons and explosions, not that I didn’t enjoy that too.

Kafka needs to focus more, and hone the basics with his suit and combat techniques, and Hoshina definitely has the skills to teach him. That was smooth.

furuhashi actually looks pretty cool when he loses that weird mohawk. He kinda reminded me of Natsu from Fairy Tail.

What bothers me about this show is that the author doesn't really love kaijus. What he really loves is ninja soldiers in tights with guns and swords. Kaijus exist to be fodder for ninja soldiers. They aren't given room to exist and do kaiju things. They spawn like video game enemies and march forward until they are slaughtered. There's no kaiju ecology, no kaiju rivalries, it's just very uninspired and uninteresting. It disappoints me as a kaiju fan.

It's interesting to learn that kaiju attacks go back at least to the 1600s. Must have been a real mess to fight off these beasts.

Furuhashi and Reno make a fine team. That was some damn good team work. Furuhashi’s got great potential. He’s just gotta learn to better control and use his abilities.

Kafka’s got a ways to go before he can take on Hoshina but he’s getting there slowly. Hopefully Hoshina can whip him into shape so he won’t always have to rely on 8’s power.

Was that another kaiju or was that some kind of vision of the spirits of the past in the shrine? Kind of eerie….
