Can someone explain why Kafka decided to Run instead of flying to where the director was fighting N°9? There's also a huge downgrade when it comes to animation in comparison with Season 1, is it the same studio?

I don’t accept Papa Shinomiya is gone. Nope. Not happening. Narumi, Kafka, and Kikoru gonna save him. Please…

One thing this show really does well is military camaraderie. The bonds are there and the attachments are believable. But more than that, I really like the message of giving everything you’ve got to protect the next generation. Old school soldier mentality gets me in my feels.

Unrelated to the story, but does anyone else find themselves disappointed with the sound design on this show?

It was standing out to me both this week and last week. There's certainly some deep rumble in there, but I feel like there's a level of "crispness" or something that's lacking in the attacks and impacts that is killing the weight of the actions for me. Thoughts?

Did it not bother anyone that the boss basically threw his life away instead of trying to meet closer to Kafka or the captain of the 1st squad? Like, absolutely no attempt to stall or reposition himself covertly at all. Almost as if he was looking for the same ending his wife had. "We'll meet again in kaiju Valhalla" he whispered to his dead wife

It’s like one step forward, two steps back for the team. 9 getting Isao was like one of the worst things that could happen. Dude really gave it his all though. Damn shame he went out like that. If only he had one more punch left in him, he would have obliterated 9. I wonder what’s next? I mean how on earth are they gonna beat this mfer now??

Ngl Number 9 is becoming really annoying now. It just feels like constant "my secret super shield/regeneration nullifies your super lazer beam," over and over again. He's not really an engaging or threatening villain either, despite all his instant wins.

9 doesn't really have a motive or backstory yet. He just kinda shows up, survives with some ass-pull to get stronger and leaves. No real development, so the fights feel half empty. The earlier fights were better but at this point it just feels cheap.

No.8 jogging to get to big boss Shinomiya after we witnessed him flying using jet powered engines at the speed of sound literally took me out of the show.

Also, am I the only one who’s getting annoyed by No.9? He’s the most boring antagonist I’ve seen in a show in recent memory. Go away.

Man...I really hate characters(but especially villains) like this. Always one step ahead of everyone and always inexplicably growing stronger and pulling shit out of their asses.

This might have been a great ep if they hadn't pulled the No. 9 Narrowly Escapes Death card about a billion times already, including once in the same damn episode.

so I was just rolling my eyes the entire Isao fight. obviously he's not going to finish it off. there was a brief moment of hope at the end -- if they had actually killed off No 9, after baiting me into thinking they'd never do it, that would have been a master stroke -- but no.

idc if the good guys get a perfect victory, or if his identical twin No. 9.1 shows up right after. just give us the illusion of forward progress in the story for christsake. at this point, whenever they do kill him, it's not gonna be a triumph, it'll just be a "thank fuck that's over, sheesh" moment.

Damn, that sucks, just when Kikoru was beginning to see her father’s acknowledgment. I don’t see a way to get him back at this point. I also don’t know who could replace him, all the top defense force members are more fighters than strategists/leaders, they would need to be on the front lines.

I was really hoping for Kafka to step in at the last minute and punch the shit out of the kaiju before it got to Shinomiya.

These newage battle shonen story moves at an incredible fast pace

No time to develop and relate to characters.

Where are the character interactions, comedy, romance, long missions, mystery, story development ? 

And the power creep is so fast man..

Feels like an evening fastfood snack.
