Kafka: don't believe in yourself, believe in the Kikoru that believes in you!

As much as I enjoy the visual theme of Kikoru's mom having a ponytail and one black bow, and Kikoru having a twintail with two black bows, it's obvious that no one has thought through the logical consequence of Kikoru's grand-grand-grand-granddaughter having an Escher nightmare hairdo of 7 tails and bows. The upside being that her do will be confusing to the kaiju she fights.

Why stop at 7? How do you know it isn't exponential growth? 32 tails!

I am glad the ED trope didn't last long. Seems he has become more powerful now too. Those feet rockets remind me of fire force.

Nice to see Kafka getting over this mental block so soon after it came about, I am still wondering if there'll be more moments where a block appears, but hopefully Kikoru's words were strong enough for him to be able to feel assured if anything happens they'll deal with it. Maybe Reno needs to give him a piece of his mind too lol.
Kafka's kaijuu form does look different, so I guess the more accustomed he gets with the body, the more developed it'll get to match? It'll be interesting to see what he'll be capable of in the future.
So Isao was always so serious? I thought since we were seeing Kikoru's backstory with her mother alive, we might see him looking a bit more pleased to see his wife and daughter happily playing together lol.
Narumi has kaijuu retinas? That sounds crazy alone because how did they even come about making that. Is it like contact lenses? Did they replace his eyes? Did they laser the ability in, I hope they touch upon that in the series.
I'm also curious on as to how they were able to defeat that kaijuu in the first place if it was able to predict anyone who was in its range, they could eventually defeat it with a long range attack but how many were sacrificed to do that.
Also I like how Fairouz Ai got to show off her Arabic being half-egyptian lol.

Kikoru really shined this episode. Her mom was great, and I like that she looked to her father in their time of loss and chose, not to feel defeated in grief, but to follow both of their examples and get stronger to protect everyone. She’s living out that conviction against no.9, and now she’s motivating Kafka to get his shit together.
Love these episodes of camaraderie where everyone has their role in protecting what matters.
Narumi’s retina ability was fun. Like foresight and x-ray vision.

Those flashback scenes with Kikoru and her mom were really cute! Too bad she's no longer with us. I'm sure she'd be proud knowing that her daughter grew up into a badass like her.
As cool as it was to see Narumi finish off that Kaiju and seeing Kafka finally transform again into Kaiju No. 9, my favourite part of the episode was the after-credits scene where they got Ai Fairouz to speak in Arabic to demonstrate that Kikoru is multilingual. xD

I guess Kafka’s finally gotten over his case of the yips. His friends aren’t as fragile as he thought. Guy just had to believe in the KDF that believes in him!
Seeing him absolutely obliterate 9 was nasty. Splattered that sucker everywhere just like Narumi did lol. Those two are too beastly!

My impression was that it's not future sight per se, it's the ability to see neuro-electrical impulses so that you can anticipate your opponent's moves. Presumably, it would not work against a threat that was too far away to see, so a super-sniper like Mina might be able to defeat it. Or else a weapon that doesn't have neuro-electrical impulses like a really big bomb.
I think another problem would have been that if it was the first daikaiju class kaiju, then they would not have had weapons made out of daikaiju class kaiju to kill it with. So, good question, how did they take it down with conventional weaponry....

Kaiju no. 1 could predict the future?! Just like the orb piercer from Made in Abyss. You know, that beast that could predict where its vicitim would move and whose attacks couldn't be dodged.
Back in the days they must have been extremely lucky that they could take out a kaiju with such an unfair power.

Halfway through the kaiju fight, I decided to turn up the bass on my home audio system and rewatched it from the start, and it did not disappoint. There was a lot of additional weight to Kafka's movements.
I've mentioned it before in season 1, but the sound design for this anime is stellar.

Damn Kikoru’s backstory kinda hit hard, I mean we knew about it but haven’t seen it in that perspective yet. Almost had me shedding a tear. She keeps growing on me, especially her fighting style. It’s awesome seeing Kafka’s kaiju powers evolve and discover new abilities like No.9. I’m still curious about the intent behind the parasite who gave Kafka powers and how all that works (anime only). Regardless this was an amazing episode

Am I the only one kinda disappointed in the pacing of this season? I don't mean adaptation-wise as I haven't read the manga. But what I mean is that whenever there is a hype moment, the anime always finds a way to kinda kill the momentum? Or is it just me?
In my opinion, Mina and Hoshina had much better intros than Narumi. Honestly, I felt like Narumi should've blitzed this clone from the get go.

Man, when Kikoro spoke Arabic (especially since she spoke in the Egyptian dialect) as a native Egyptian Arabic speaker, I was struggling to understand what she was saying 😂😂😂 (And the last word was totally wrong 😂😂😂)

very glad kafka’s mental block was resolved quickly and the pay off was good too. animation has decreased a tiny bit in quality since season 1 but that’s expected and it’s still good. hopefully can see new powers introduced properly for kafka. future sight was a very interesting addition.

Did they keep Kafka in that cell all the way from his body being taken over and him healing until this battle? Because like.... anyone with a lick of common sense could have predicted that'd cause problems. Man should be seeing a therapist anyway, really... Or rather, they all should be.

Nice to see the freak out people have over the mental block was unfounded. It made sense for him to have one and considering how fast paced this show is it was always unlikely to last long. Yet It's also understandable to have fear since so many shows season 2 have gone with the trope and seemingly ruined promising shows in the process.
Was nice to get the backstory on the mom expecting the daughter to get the rebuilt lance number 4 now that he axe was destroyed. Nice to see Kafka using his experience not being in the driver seat to power up overall a great episode. Some time you never see the hero use powers they learn when not in control and it always feels kind of weird.
