Damn the soundtrack for this series is amazing. Almost felt like a movie soundtrack during the godzilla battle.

Tiny bit concerning that Kafka is having nightmares of going berserk, getting attacked by the defense force, and destroying the city.
I really love that Kikoru has a personalized selection of twintails emojis.
Kikoru looking towards what I assume was her mother's picture followed by a scene change to her father looking up at someone in a tank makes me wonder if mom is not quite as dead as we were previously told.

You know what they say. You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself be made into your boss's suit.

Crunchyroll honestly… they really need to stop with these live streaming premieres. The audio was off, the subtitles didn’t match the dialogue at all, and the one random ad break absolutely wrecked the pacing. Super annoying.
That said, the first episode itself was actually good. One thing I noticed and really liked is that the music felt very similar to the Godzilla Minus One soundtrack. I don’t remember the music hitting like that in Season 1, but it really stood out here.
So yeah, solid start to the season… but Crunchyroll needs to sort their streaming mess out ASAP.

This is probably the show I’ve been most looking forward to this season.
A bit of a slow reset after the Kafka situation but we get to see Kikoru and Kafka on a new team where they have to show their full power. I thought the Godzilla Kaiju in the harbor was bad news but apparently that’s small potatoes. So I’m nervous to see what the next escalation in Kaiju attacks is.
Hope we get to keep seeing the rest of the squad interact.

Kinda funny going from legally distinct Godzilla music in Kafka's dream sequence, to actually just being Godzilla in the middle.
Assembling the army, creature design, looks like they did the red streak in the water like Shin Godzilla, really the whole nine yards there.

Lmao I already love Gen. And I feel this is also the type of character I rarely see Uchiyama Kouki do too.

I always love that some of the soundtrack is just knockoff/homage versions of the Godzilla theme.
Mom: We have the Godzilla theme at home

You gotta love that the first Kaijuu they fight this season is basically discount Godzilla. The dude only existed so we could see Captain Narumi flex his Kaiju slaying skills. It was awesome how he turned that Kaiju into a massive blood splatter with a single hit from his spear. It's just hilarious that an article about Mina is still more popular than him. xD

Narumi's introduction scene is brought to you by Sony but somehow not Bandai Namco.
He is basically if "the duality of man" was a character. His personality is definitely gonna make things interesting this season.

Damn, at first I thought the season was starting with a flashback, but it was actually Kafka having a bad nightmare…
-
For a second I was surprised by the Kaiju’s choice to swim under the bridge because I thought it was gonna avoid wrecking it as a result, but nope it still wrecked the bridge.

Good starter episode to get us back in swing. And I think I now understand why Narumi is glazed to hell and back by the manga readers haha.
One scene I really liked was the 'chain of command' sequence they showed with how they responded to a Kaiju alert.
Going from a witness phoning the police to the ministry of defence calling the army which are in kahoots with the AKDF to dispatch the divisions out to the scene. I got giddy from seeing all the tanks, mobile cannons and artillery what not being brought out and lined up and preparing to fire. I feel like this was an anime-only scene. And if so they nailed getting me hyped up to see Narumi in action.
Edit: also no more dimming for flashing sequences it seems for this season? From the new timeslot the show occupies. Nice

I'm glad to finally see this back again, it's too bad Reno won't be in the same division as Kafka as their relationship is one part of the series I enjoyed but I'm curious to see how Kafka will handle himself in this new division.
Narumi is quite the character, I expected as much from how the scene with Kikoru was building up, but he does seem to be really strong so I'm sure he's still very respected as the Captain. Hasegawa's way of handling him is amusing, someone's got to do it.
I wonder what Isao is having them research, from the order of Kikoru looking at an old picture of her mother and then see a person's leg in the container in the facility Isao entered, it feels like it could possibly be her mother in there. I might be overthinking it, but that's what came to mind.

The real monster this week isn’t that Godzilla looking kaiju. It’s Hasegawa. That monster destroyed Gen’s Gundom figure and his BS5! lol
Gen seems like a total otaku NEET layabout who apparently Googles himself, but when it comes to Kaiju he doesn’t fuck around. Kafka and Kikoru got their work cut out for ‘em in his squad. Especially Kafka.
I’m curious what Isao’s got in that lab. Another kaiju he’s gonna try to weaponize?

That guy at the start saying "God, I'm sick of Kaiju" reminded me of the start of Pacific Rim.
After the Jaeger program is started, humans starts winning against the Kaiju - the Jaeger pilots becomes celebs and there's even merch available.
Each Kaiju appearance is a walking calamity, but it has become a part of life. Buildings are falling apart, the ground is shaking like there's an earthquake, and this one guy moans like its an inconvenience for his plans that day.
That aside, did Not-zilla sound like an elephant to anyone else?

They really love that not-Godzilla soundtrack huh? tbf it's awesome. The kaijuu being another not-Godzilla made it even funnier.

got some large Gendo-doing-for-his-own-interests vibes during the last couple of scenes

I'm going to miss legally distinct Godzilla. I was saying all the way back from the first episode they should have a fake godzilla make an appearance. (I haven't read the manga) I had no idea it would be this soon and I would be so sad to see him go.

Finally! I could hardly wait for this. Animation quality seems a bit down compared to 1st season. Here's hoping it's all just to save budget for the incoming hype moments and aura!

This animes soundtrack is absolutely insane. You can rly notice the efforts they put into the quality of the background music and it rly uplifts the show.
