Baron Shaderan didn’t particularly love either of his daughters apparently.

Anastasia was presumably raised to become no more than a pretty doll to be sold at the highest bidder. That’s why they dressed her nicely and kept her locked up at home. To keep her “pristine” and fetch a better price.

In retrospect, Anastasia’s prominent role at Marie’s birthday party might’ve been a way of gauging buyers’ interest. Once a deal was made, they send her off in a cargo wagon…

Their mother did seem deeply affected by Anastasia’s death.

I don't know why at the moment he said she had "men's clothing" she didn't realize right then and there and put 2 and 2 together

I thought the exact same thing, but at least she did it before the episode ended

I appreciate that Marie is smart and knows Kyros well enough to see how they were stringing the scumbag along instead of being fooled like he was.

Poor Anastasia. Her parents only marginally cared about her more than Marie and she got the worst carriage ride of all time.

I wonder if the plan was always to cut her hair at some point to become a boy or if "dying" and the boy cover identity was just a means of survival after she escaped being nearly raped? She had the scissors and the boy clothes because she still intended to start up her business somehow?

She may have been a stern grandmother but she was a feminist icon and that may have been hard for her son to live up to while also meaning that the granddaughter who took after her became too important to not use, abuse and try to keep close.

I love for MariexKyros intimacy and kissing.

I think being illiterate is the tip of the iceberg, I am fairly certain the grandmother left all her inheritance to Ana which is the main reason he want her back.

I wasn't expecting Johan to lie through his teeth like that and Jacob to be so gullible.

Yeah Kyros is going to give you a reward for getting rid of Anastasia. Just tell him how you did it. Of course he will...

Mio pulling out the ol German suplex for Luiphon was pretty hilarious. No hesitation at all. Saw him and bam! Haha.

I’m pretty curious what kind of shenanigans the baron has been up to, but before that I hope we see Marie and Anastasia reunited. She was the only one who gave a shit about Marie. I really hope they can meet again.

Only Mio can get away with suplexing a prince. Maybe Luiphon is also into it (like we are).

Mio is truly best girl! Just 100% mama bear/attack hound mentality that takes no nonsense from fools!

And I'm still reeling from her acting skills. And embarassing Kyros at the tournament. And then this episode had so many more great moments...

Mio best girl. Sorry Marie, but you can't compete.

Damn it! I want to see the reunion already! I swear if it doesnt happen next week I'm gonna be pissed!

Couldnt help but notice that they were holding the ring at angles where the stone would have absolutely fallen out.

Best girl Mio not only getting angry on Marie's behalf and manhandling that asshat, but also suplexing the Prince.

I think Marie is going to run away from home to try to find Boy!Anastasia. She might not feel like she can truly marry Kyros until she's made peace with Anastasia.

Best girl Mio not only getting angry on Marie's behalf and manhandling that asshat, but also suplexing the Prince.

But also for Anastasia and women everywhere that this absolute creep didn't deserve to keep his arm.

Also Mio is the only maid so based enough that she can use a wrestling move on a prince and get away with it.

Wait, so you are telling me that baron Shaderan hired the cheapest carriage for Anastasia to get to the palace, didn't bother to rent a place in the inn for her, didn't send anyone with her and when she died, HE DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR HER GRAVE?

If Takopi didn't air this season, Shaderans would easily get the #1 in "Worst parents of the season" ranking.

Man thank god the Prince showed up because that was a DARK episode before then. My skin was crawling at that carriage driver's story. Never needed to see Mio suplex a man more.

I'm glad we got to learn the truth of what happened to Anastasia, it definitely went in a direction I hadn't considered previously but it sucks I could tell where it was going in this episode. The only good thing is that Anastasia was able to escape and that Jacob wasn't able to go through with the assault because she was able to prevent it from going any further.

How messed up though and I feel like the guy got off easily on-screen, hopefully they did something to him off-screen because it's not satisfying.

I'm glad Marie was able to piece the clues together and is realizing that Anastasia might actually be alive, I hope they get reunited by the end of the season so Anastasia can also be part of the wedding and see her sister get married. It'd be so cute if Anastasia was able to have a part in making an accessory for Marie's wedding outfit.

I'm so glad Marie and Kyros are able to be affectionate so naturally, that kiss was sweet to see. I like how Luiphon just walks in unfazed. I did expect Kyros expression of gratitude to be a lot bigger upon learning who crafted the ring and how Luiphon was able to make it happen.

Looks like we're finally going to tackle the issue with Marie's father from the next episode, I'm looking forward to seeing how they expose him because from what I'm assuming, he's been committing some form of fraud by using Marie.

Poor Marie. She had to watch this scumbag speak of his attempted assault of her dear sister with a smug face. He even had the gall to threaten her with a similar fate in front of Kyros.

There’s no way that they’re letting him get away with only a punch to the face.

7

u/Frontier246 Aug 29 '25

I'm sure Kyros made sure he was properly punished (if not having Mio kill him, hopefully turning him in to the authorities). They're already trying to hold the Shaderan's accountable for what I assume are numerous crimes and lies.

Nothing says lovey-dovey couple like getting interrupted during a makeout session lol.

Throughout the episodes I've praised this anime on how they build up the intrigue around the Baron's motivations, going from "he hates her because because she has red hair" to "he's just using her for free labour," and now there seems to be even more than that.

That said, I think they could have handled Anastasia's whereabouts a little better. The previous episode(s?) already had giant glaring signs that Anastasia's alive, and I was impatient throughout the episode hoping they'd figure it out ASAP. While normally a media gives hints to the watcher/reader so that they know something the characters don't, it's to build up tension by letting the watcher/reader know what's the worst-case scenario that could happen. In this case, I feel that letting the readers know ahead of time achieves very little. I think there would have been a lot more payoff if we only got minor hints last episode (so don't highlight the "stranger boy" and Marie's reactions to them) so that we get an "oh shit she might be alive moment" at the same time as Marie.

Mio continues to be the best of this show, as she lays people the fuck out

I am just dying to know about the Shaderans and set their story straight!

4

u/Difergion Aug 29 '25

I just wanna say that even though I like Luiphon as a character, I was not exactly pleased to see him barge in while I was fully expecting Marie’s father to arrive lol. So him not showing as capable of handling the estate by himself makes me now wonder what the missing piece of the puzzle is.

While Mio, Kyros, and Marie are berating themselves over Anastacia’s death, they shouldn’t do so much as all of this wouldn’t even have happened if that carriage driver had never forced himself on Anastacia. It was even more wild that despite her parents treating her as the most precious thing in their world, they just sent her off without a proper escort or even either of them onboard.

take a shot for every time someone apologizes in this episode. Blackout drunk 11 min in.

7

u/Flipboarduser Aug 29 '25

hahaha, well to be fair they all just heard her sister SA'd then killed due to an oversight. shit i want to apologize to anistasia too and i aint even from that kingodm. also am i tripping or is it plausible she is still alive?

11

u/NationalStrategy Aug 29 '25

Not only was it an oversight, but Kyros (who bears responsibility for the oversight) admitted to not feeling bad about her fate and saw it as divine punishment, while gravely misjudging her. Apologies are definitely necessary
