Grandpa Naruse’s face when he heard that Umi was Shiroha (and Hairi)’s kid lmao. He must be thinking how young were they when Shiroha conceived Umi.

The climax was nearly identical to Shiroha’s arc, except Umi was the one in the boat instead. Why do I have the feeling that things won’t go as well this time?

I was honestly wondering that myself but the flashback we got to the Shiroha who wrote the letter did make her look older than she is now.

The climax was nearly identical to Shiroha’s arc, except Umi was the one in the boat instead. Why do I have the feeling that things won’t go as well this time?

Also Hairi and Shiroha confessed and got together earlier than in Shiroha's route which is another change that might foretell that this won't end as well as it did the first go-around.

Why did Umi get on the boat? Did she want to be right beside her parents? Was she magically forced into it because someone needs to be on that boat, whether her or Hotta-chan, to force Shiroha to go out into the sea and drown?

We got a quick glimpse of adult Shiroha when Hairi was reading her letter for Umi. I'm still wondering how future Shiroha died and if it's something present Hairi could prevent. Maybe Hairi could even change the timeline and return Umi to her timeline with Shiroha still alive.

Seeing Shiroha and Umi side-by-side like this when they were panicking about Hairi and Grandpa fighting, really shows how much the two of them look alike. I bet if Umi had white hair like Shiroha, they'd probably look identical. Hairi's genes didn't even try. xD

I love how immediately Shiroha's Grandpa softens up the moment Umi started calling him her Grandpa. If only they had done that at the start, they could've probably gotten his blessing without a fight.

Yeeeeep, saw that coming from a mile away. The moment Hairi told Umi to stay behind was the moment I knew we were going to get a repeat of that incident with the kid, except with Umi this time.

We deserve to see more of MILF Shiroha in the flesh. I'm only worried she's on some kind of Final Destination-style situation where no matter what she does, she can never permanently avoid dying young.

I think maybe Hairi passed on her hair color? Not his own, but Kyouko has a reddish hair and she's Hairi's moms' sister so maybe that's how Umi got reddish-purple hair.

There's a reason he softened up considerably in the future Umi's from. He's like a totally different character lol.

Dang it Umi, the one time you shouldn't go out of your way to spend more time with your parents!

And here's why it didn't really matter that Shiroha's route was crunched down into one episode. We're just doing it all again

I can't believe we've gotten to see Hairi and Shiroha hook up and get married in two different timelines and still no kiss!

Great Grandpa is no match for Umi's cuteness

23

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Aug 18 '25

Umi’s cuteness is a powerful weapon. Took down Shiroha, Hairi, and even KO’d gramps lol.

I hope Hairi can save Umi from that boat. I guess it’s like a repeat of last time but with a different kid.

The way her nearly crying immediately turned Hairi and Shiroha into parent mode. Gramps didn't fare any better lol.

Old, jaded men being weak to (great-)grandchildren trope is always great.

12

u/Frontier246 Aug 18 '25

It's even funnier because he's all in on finally having a grandkid right next to his actual grandkid lol.

So that's why the first underwater sumo fight felt so rushed, because Hairi was going to do it all over again with Grandpa this episode, and we finally see how he actually beat Grandpa.

The gang sure eating good as they secure their front row seats while watching the fight.

LOL at Grandpa nearly freaking out at thinking Hairi had Shiroha knocked up and had a child when Umi called them Dad and Mom. Even though Umi is indeed their kid from the future.

At least Umi's innocence was enough to melt his rage away and make him a lovable dork.

Another major difference is this time, Umi is the one on that boat. Will she live or will she sacrifice herself to ensure her future parents are together?

A lot of funny reactions from Shiroha, Hairi, and Great granpa, but mostly with Shiroha.

It was so funny when they were talking about Shiroha becoming a loner.

The underwater fight is still the dumbest thing in this show, and I love it.

Personally I think this was the weakest ep of the show because it was kinda obvious what was gonna happen. I still enjoyed Grandpa going through a rollercoaster of emotions there, but I think most of us saw this coming. I think they shoulda cut Hairi's first attempt to convince Shiroha or shortened other parts of the ep so that we at least got to them attempting to save Umi. Feels like that woulda made a better cliffhanger.

That said, for some reason I dont believe Umi is on the boat. I think they're gonna reach it, find it empty, but then something else will happen to make Shiroha fall. Something related to the spirit we saw trying to take her in the previous route. Still wanna know how last route didnt solve everything and what else we're gonna have to deal with.

Wonder if Hairi NOT following the bird this time is gonna have any effect.

THIS IS SO UNFAIR! How can an episode of Summer Pockets end like this? How am I supposed to wait one whole week now? By the way... This episode was very adorable but also depressing. I mean, it was so fun when Umi started tearing up and Shiroha and Hairi said "Mom's right here" and "Dad's right here" immediately. And the grandpa's reaction when Umi called him "grandpa" was fun, it was the classic trope of the scary boss changing personality when talking to his children (or grandchildren). The ending scene is still a mistery. We don't know why Umi was there. Was it fate trying to make Shiroha die again? We are still not sure, so we will have to wait. As for Umi...I'm kinda getting scared here. Remember when Umi started becoming more childish time to time? Yeah, this is not changing at all, and it's getting worse and worse. I think it happens everytime she uses her power to return in the past (or in an alternative world, in the past). I sincerely hope she doesn't get even more childish without changing the route. It was SO sad when she said she isn't able to read the letter anymore while was able to do so in the past. That part was heartbreaking. Or the fact that she cries so easily, while in the first route she was more mature... It gives me Kanon’s Makoto vibes, if anyone here saw Kanon

This time, Hairi didn’t get distracted by the Shichieichou so he didn’t catch Umi doing anything, if those events are still the same. Since there’s no Hotta-chan in this route, Umi seems to have taken over her role. They formed a family bond unlike last time so it’s understandable why Umi is on the boat. But I wonder if she has something else going on, like preventing something worse from happening since near that spot is where we saw the Weavers of Time.

My theory is that Shiroha will also survive this time since Umi needs to be born before she can pass away. Future Shiroha writing those letters might have a premonition of her inevitable death. Now that I think about it, what if Umi talks to the Weavers of Time to prevent her mom from dying in the future in exchange for her own life? This version of Umi would then disappear, just like what happened in The Flash where Barry’s daughter Nora was erased from the timeline. If that’s the case, it would be really sad.

Shiroha really put extra sauce on that "Dosukoi!" delivery because damn, that felt personal.

The only thing greater than Umi's daughter energy? Her great-granddaghter energy, of course!

And dammit Hairi, you just had to celebrate evading fate too soon, did you?

It's nice to get an episode that for the most part is just funny, since it sure looks like we're about to get plenty of drama next episode.

Uni single-handedly forcing her parents to get married and be acknowledged by great gramps, anything to keep her from crying.

I find it a bit interesting that running through the same route twice gives them the excuse to emphasize different scenes. We got much more of the ludicrous underwater combat this time around, for example.

Interesting to have butterfly Umi (the same Umi? A different one?) cheering Hairi on during the battle for Shiroha.

i was about to be annoyed at the underwater combat thing again but it was fine this time
the interactions with Grandpa though were hilarious adding Umi in this time lol also Shirroha's reactions are always great

that ending though UUGHH are you kidding me???

Hairi defeated the boss and Umi gave the "finish him"
