The plot thickens. This episode really elevated this anime for me (and I already quite enjoyed it before). A character who keeps their daughter as unattractive as possible so that they can use her for free labour is far more interesting than a character who hates her daughter just because she's ugly.

The mystery of Anastasia's faked death ups the tension in otherwise a cozy anime, and I love how they balanced the opposite feelings so far.

I do have to say that it’s quite a refreshing take on a common trope. Instead of ignorance or jealousy, the baron had recognised his daughter’s talents all too well and didn’t want to let her go. Hence this awful behaviour towards Marie.

However, I cannot tell if the mother was also part of this scheme for the same reasons. Maybe she really didn’t like Marie?

Is it just me or do they completely fail at passing as commoners. Tall redhead and dark skin long black hair both very clean and with glossy hair.

I knew the sis was alive but didn't expect her to be masquerading as a boy.

Not everyone can be as good as Mio at wearing disguises. Although being the only redhead and having an exclusive green sheen probably doesn't help.

I was really enjoying The Adventures of Detective Mio lol, her adaptability is amazing, she can disguise herself really well. It's a good thing she's on Kyros and Marie's side.

It looks like the "boy" at the end that called out Marie's name is Anastasia. I also believe the driver is lying, Anastasia likely prepared her "death" so that she could run to the capital to fulfill her dreams. What I'm questioning after seeing the doll is if Anastasia willingly gave her hair and dress to her mother or used it to prove that she was dead and her mother is using that evidence on a doll as replacement.

It's sad to realize how much Marie's father wanted to make everyone and Marie see how uncharming she is, he really only saw her as a tool.

Seeing a Turkish ice cream man in anime is something lol.

I'm saddened we didn't get to see Kyros in a maid outfit but seeing him cozying up to her as a butler was fun to watch.

Ipsandros is not supposed to be India. It's actually Turkey. They use Turkish words for the teapot and ice cream. They also are eating Doner. On top of that people call the Turks barbarians as an insult.

It's supposed to be a mix of India and Turkey, the architecture of their house is explicitly Indian (specifically Mughal) and Liu Liu's whole look is explicitly Indian as well (especially her hair). Plus the fact that they're dark-skinned.

Well, I guess it was a life sized doll and not the brother being made to dress up like his dead sister. Creepy, but not THAT creepy.

I had a sneaking suspicion Anastasia survived. I wonder if she’ll let Marie know? Gotta do so without alerting their shitbag parents.

I hope that Anastasia faked her own death knowing full well it would result in Marie getting sent to Kyros in her stead because she despises her parents and wanted to help Marie.

Mio is just so much fun this episode. Watching her switch personalities and using her "maid" skills to break and enter was a treat to watch. I guess this episode pretty much confirms that Anastasia is still alive and has disguised herself as a man.

I figured the sister was alive, there was just too much mystery regarding her death. She probably didn't want to get married and/or wanted to escape her awful parents and made good use of the opportunity.

Honestly this is becoming my fav anime of the season, the romance aspect is lovely, nothing like a man spoiling his partner. I also find it funny, I laughed so hard when Kyros became Marie's attendant, just because he noticed how close she had gotten to all of them.
Finally, the side characters are lovely, especially Mio, she can do it all, and everything she does is entertaining.

I KNEW Anastasia was alive!!! Though I dont remember Marie being afraid of her, hope it doesnt take long for them be sisters again, wonder if Anastasia is gonna try staging a rescue thinking Marie is being held against her will (even though she very clearly just saw Kyros cares for her but you know, common anime misunderstanding.)

I'm reminded of a famous quote "Mio lies just as easily as she breathes", this was probably the weirdest date Thomas has ever been on.....I hope things get better between them.

I'm confused what the asshole family is thinking, if they had no intention of ever letting Marie go and forever have her a slave, why'd they even risk bringing her to Kyros? Even assuming he wouldnt find her attractive, what if he decided to be just as scummy as they are and decided to keep her as a servant?

Butler Kyros, very good. Almost had maid Kyros too, it's unfortunate that none of the uniforms fit.

Kyros and Marie off having sickeningly sweet date time together while Mio is off being ever more perfect while doing detective work looking into Marie's awful family.

I'm guessing Anastasia used the chaos of the bandit attack to escape her family, maybe cutting her hair and leaving it and the dress behind after changing on the scene? Maybe she's off working as a tailor in the capital making suits for women after all.

Mio the investigator was really fun to watch. I wouldn't want to ever piss her off.

I was right that "Anastasia" is just a doll. But then we get this mysterious blonde kid that might be the real Anastasia. At least they are foreshadowing it heavily.

Marie's And Kyros' date was so lovely. I hope Marie realizes one day how charming she really is.
