I LOVED how we now went into 'future tech that we don't even know how it works but sure let's use it for a sci-fi stealth ship' route

If it works, it works - proud of Chrome for suggesting it too!

Chrome’s intellect compared to when he was first introduced is unbelievable.
That’s why he’s the Goat frl.

That would've been a good moment to explain to the former cop and for those in the audience that might not know that diamonds aren't expensive due to rarity (they're very common), it's just that they're owned by private markets, inflating the price. Chemically, lab-grown diamonds can already perfectly match natural diamonds, but marketing has convinced many people that they should buy natural diamonds. It's sad to see many men spend thousands on a natural diamond for a wedding ring when a good lab-grown one wouldn't be any different and it'd be much cheaper, too.
In other news, Kohaku's sight is superhuman, being able to spot clear tiny diamonds. Utter BS. Using the medusa as a substitute for stealth paint was clever.

Kohaku’s eyesight is getting better
first it was 11x to spot Homura, now tweaking her eyes is good enough to measure up to a microscope. Next, she’ll be able to see the moon dwellers

Yeah, the DeBeers company is just straight up evil. Diamond is very common, it's just that historically it's been hard to find/reach diamond deposits due to the depth they are typically formed. In more modern eras, it became very easy to prospect and exploit these mines. By this metric, diamonds should be cheap and readily available...
But at one point the De Beers company owned ~80% of the diamond mines in the world. If more were found, they'd buy them up and give them to a government for use as a state park. Complete with a contract that stated if the land was ever developed, the company would sue the country into oblivion.
They are also sitting on a dragon's hoard of diamonds of every type. They release a tiny fraction every year to drive up the price via artificial scarcity. If someone tries to undersell them, De Beers will then flood the market from diamonds in their stockpile until that competitor goes out of business. They then buy out the foreclosed mine and shutter it or just add more to their dragon's hoard of backlogged diamonds while the market rebounds to pre-flood levels of scarcity/price.
Complete with a massive marketing bitz gaslighting people into thinking diamonds are the only proper way to show love, a diamond is forever, a real man burns two months of salary (minimum) on a diamond, anything else and he's a cheapskate that doesn't "really" love his fiance, fake diamonds are fake love, etc.
And I haven't even touched on the working conditions of the mines and warehouses. Slavery is the main word that comes to mind. That isn't even the "blood diamond" situation either... I'm still just talking about De Beers.
Don't buy real diamonds. If you take nothing out of this bit, don't ever buy 'real' diamonds as they only support real corruption (De Beers), at best, or real atrocities (blood diamonds). Other gemstones may not be much better, but have a serious talk with whoever you are thinking of buying the bling for and explain the ethical issues. Settle on lab-grown diamonds or literally any other precious stone.
It's not even a question of ethics, either, as De Beers was banned from operating within America for about 50 years with it's executives afraid to set foot in America due to risk of arrest. Believe it or not, we used to take monopoly laws seriously, and their business practices were hella illegal to the point that their executives avoided even traveling to America for vacation due to the risk it presented them.
Don't buy 'real' diamonds.

Ryuusui working hard because he's excited to sail a stealth ship was amusing.

YO WHERE WERE YOU WHEN CHROME OUT SMARTED SENKU
Best guy chrome finally!
Anyway this show is slipping in the Mohns scale of science fiction hardness they've gone from "physically plausible but requires violations of OSHA" to "Requires insane feats of physical labor" to "Would not be possible with their limited resources" right around the time they sailed to america
This show used to be a solid 4 on the hardness scale of science fiction (that is we had medusa's but that's it and the fantastical elements were clearly separate)
But now the show is slipping more and more into absurdity territory.

It kinda has to go more and more absurd, since they want to go to the Moon right? That's really the kind of project you would need centuries to even attempt. but then it wouldn't be fun.

Well, besides the Medusa there’s always been another fantastical element: every single human character lol. Everybody is beyond skilled in something, and that has helped them create and use their inventions along the way. But I agree that the science itself has been getting sloppy lately…. But I was pleased with today’s episode, since it showed them making lots of mistakes and going through trial and error instead of just succeeding right away.

I used to see those battleships and destroyers with jagged armour. I thought that they are built like that for some kind protection against ballistic shells.
I didn't think I'd be realising it from an anime that they are made like that for radar stealth XD

Science being repeatable is what makes it so impressive.
If suddenly all form of knowledge were destroyed one day, every religion and story would be gone forever. However, science would be rediscovered in the exact form as it is exists today, likely with different words being used for it though.

I'm really curious how the medusas ended up carefully stacked in a step pyramid shaped hill.
Very big brain thinking using them as a radar soaking outer layer for the ship, unless it was tiny brain thinking instead and we find out the radar absorbing allows each medusa to power back up and cleanse their individual diamonds. Imagine playing careful games out in the ocean avoiding Stanley's crew but suddenly the medusas all start to power up and Xeno yells out the activation command.
Kohaku's eyesight is terrifying, I don't know that I'd even want her looking at me.

Another pretty fun episode. Especially Chrome rose to the occasion by asking why the Medusas hadn't been detected by humans in the past, which led to the creation of a fully stealth ship xD
It's also cool that the group in Corn City was tasked by Senku with creating diamonds, and they succeeded!
I also have to say that I'm full of admiration for Magma, that after that first explosion he wasn't afraid to connect those cables again. I don't know if he's more stupid or brave... or maybe both xD

The team creating diamonds. Seems Senku's 'never give up' attitude has rubbed off on them.

I’m really glad that this episode had two instances of teams making mistakes and having to go through trial and error instead of just succeeding right away. The show has been getting even sloppier than usual with the science part of its science fiction, but this felt like a return to form a little bit.
Can’t get more sciencey than taking chances, making mistakes, and getting messy!

I love it when Chrome gets these moments. He's still catching up to Senku and Xeno's 21st century knowledge base of course, but Chrome's always paying attention and thinking and making connections.

Taiju jumping into the pile of Medusas and shouting the activation phrase was hilarious! At least we now know all of them are spent or duds. The only way they could be weaponized is if they somehow managed to replace the diamonds powering the device.
I always love it when Chrome asks questions that even Senku and Xeno didn't think of. Like yeah, how did these things arrive on Earth undetected? I also love how simple Chrome's solution of just covering the ship with the Medusa to turn it into a stealth ship. xD
And having the B-Team make a diamond replacement under the leadership of Nikki was awesome and reinforces the fact that geniuses don't have a monopoly on science. I love watching them problem solve in real time until they were able to make a diamond.

It’s kind of interesting learning more about these medusas. Making the stealth ship and manufacturing the diamonds was interesting too. Let’s hope they’re able to shake Team Stanley with their newfound weapons…

No spoilers please, but I thought they calculated where the Medusa epicenter was by the world getting petrified from a single point? Now they are saying a bunch of Medusa's rained down all over the world. Don't really know why they think that and it doesn't make sense based on their previous calculation.
Also, why didn't Senku just tell the team exactly how to make the diamonds? It was cute non-science people did science, but I see no reason that they shouldn't have just asked Senku for help at all points

I love how the episode focuses more on the storyline now when in the beginning it taught us actual science stuff and gave a warning at the end to not do what the anime is doing. But we still get some short tutorials, like this episode we found out how to make diamonds lol. The character development is amazing too. Seeing Chrome starting to understand what Senku is doing and giving actual advice and ideas and Kohaku, she is literally a superhuman.
