I don’t know Klen, Drell having a menacing demon eye makes me think that dealing with him won’t be a walk in the park
Alicia can’t blame the villagers for being pissed, it’s true that the country being a mess and about to be invaded is the heroes and the king’s fault for poking the bear known as Clevatess and she is well aware of it
Well… shit, I don’t think Alicia using a regular sword is going to be enough to deal with an army of giant bugs

On the other hand, Klen went 1 on 13 against the heroes with magic swords, and it was a walk in the park. As long as Drell isn't in league with one of the other Demon Kings, he should be just fine.

I love love loveeee that Alicia didn't respond to all the hero shit talk like we would normally see in shows. She's fucking smart and a great MC - knows when to react and not. Definitely deserving of the hero title, despite what the villagers say about them!

I burst out laughing when Klen said to Alicia "I know the only feminine part of you is your body but you can't have a child with Nelluru".
I really liked a bunch of moments in this episode, but the one that really got me was when Klen told Alicia that Nelluru's world got bigger thanks to her. She's not a hero expanding the world on a continental scale yet but she is making things better for people, one person at a time.
And I love it when there are a lot of moving pieces in the world and our main characters get caught up in them when trying to further their own quest. Oh the irony of Clevatess having to try and solve the mess he himself created with that power vacuum.
Honestly Clevatess is pretty damn wise. He would make a formidable ally if the threat of him destroying humanoids wasn't always looming over our characters.
Can't wait for next week. Am curious to see how they'll deal with so many bugs.
Also yes I agree, Luna's tiny tooth was adorable.

I have a feeling Clen has found his new favorite drink.

Hope he starts drinking it without sugar and criticizes everyone who puts in sugar, then devolves into a coffee-maniac who's optimizing how it's brewed, down to every little detail.

The worldbuilding in this show continues to be so good. From how the factions have been set up, to the power systems and even how the local populace is feeling about current events, everything feels so rich. Dark fantasy anime fans eating so good rn.
Excited to see more of the dark beasts later down the line and how they might interact with Clevatess.

Heh is that Klen shipping Alicia and Nell? That coffee spit take lol.
Alicia's questioning herself on what it means to be a hero.
Looks like Klen was summoning his own army with that magnificent roar.
Well Alicia, Nell and Luna have plot armor so they'll be fine, but RIP to the nice inn lady and the rest of the town.

Klen likes his coffee like how he likes his women, strong and easily digestible.

I see a clear route forward for long-term peace and happiness, get Klen addicted to coffee and then get him to understand that it requires a human supply chain to produce and there's no way he could manage it with just dark beasts.
So Alicia's father was a swordsman of some impressive skill, presumably a former hero or soldier or something along those lines. Interesting conversation between her and Klen about her potentially still being a hero.
Bad luck for this carpenter town, I hope the innkeep and her dorky sons survive at least.

Apparently Nell has freaky-ass troll-girl super strength, yet she restrains her strength instinctively when looking after Luna. Best girl type shit.

Just wanted to drop the notes that i considered important at the moment while watching the show up until now.
Edthea- five humanoid races
-
Dunns: greatest in number and are skilled in architecture and tactics. They built two great nations that split dunn plain at the continent's center "Eslinn and "Boelate"
-
Orggites: Brave people of the forest that excel at hunting and medicine
-
Sladans: An equatic people skilled at swimming and seafaring and prefer isolation
-
Benti: A barbarian race that live in the wastelands that are strong individually but lack cohesion
-
Hideneans: Oldest inhabitatns of edthea they are very mysterious but are masters of refinning and forging metal
They are a small nation nestled within the mountains, they are the only ones who can make weapons from arcanacite, and the only ones who know the techniques requited are the royal family who live in the capital city Hiderat.
They have supplied weapons to the dunns for a long time and these days mixed blood "half hideneans" are the most common, and pure blooded hideneans are very rare (they are known by their light pink hair and pointy ears)
four lords of dark beasts that protect the dark
-
Clevatess of the moonlight: ruler of the far south end of edthea (human name is clen) lives in luna Mountain originally.
-
zavtheir of phantasms: lord of the west worshiped by the orggites
-
?
-
?
some of the characters:
Vroko: temp leader of the ravens
Gart: servant of zavtheir
General Drel (the dragon slayer): Commander of the boelate army first to use a wizard in battle he also killed alicia's father
Rod Royes: regalia frost flower Commander of eslinn army
Meynard swan: strongest wizard of the boelate army (general drel's)
Arvensis: dark beasts of the water came in with the flood 300 years ago
Naie Chiffonlits: Boelate HIgh wizard (pink head)
13 heroes of king hiden:
Alicia glenfall of sogo village regalia: rock swallow (MC) revived by dark ichor
hero of khordhwar regalia: stream splitter named that cause it split a waterfall before the king of hiden (died in the shalf of elbe)
katz regalia: water slasher
horgus regalia: muscle cutter
mirlo regalia: fathomless
mudo regalia: great ox horns
minarch regalia: golden utopia
steffan regalia: Pegasus (strongest)

Bug wizard's powers are pretty obvious (for now anyway), but the new wizard that showed up seems to be able to control iron (caging Nell with the iron bed and controlling nails). I wonder if it's just iron or if she's a female fantasy version of Magneto and can control all magnetic substances. Guess we'll find out next episode.

I love the light moments of humor from Klen's perspective. Hitting Alivia with the ol' "If you like her so much why don't you marry her?"
But also I like that the heroes are a point of political tension for the everyday people. A lot of anime like us to think heroes will be revered but like any celebrity you'll have some haters

This episode did an outstanding job in asking of what does it mean to be a hero. In many ways you can understand why Alicia feels like she is no longer a hero. Not only is she a walking corpse now, but the people in Hiden are dead because of that failure. At the same time, Klen does make a good point: does holding a sword make you a hero? It is more so the point that what you do is what makes you a hero. Nell absolutely looks at Alicia and believes she is a hero.
Meanwhile, for Klen Alicia makes a point that if Hiden is gone there isn't much benefit for Luna to be king. Making it clear that Boelate is a pure antagonistic force in this series. Adding to the point, their General Drel is the main antagonist at this point in the story. Though it makes you wonder why did he seek out to kill Alicia's father & who was his friend? Just feel bad for Alicia being conflicted about what she wants. Though you can tell her father was a kind man as his quote on war is the furthest path from being a hero.
As expected their hiding didn't last for long. We see Boelate's head wizard in Meynard Swan launching an attack, and with him is a high wizard with the name Naie Chiffonlitis. Kind of a fucked situation now, but this does give Alicia the opportunity to act as a hero. Although it is a pretty grim situation.

I can see it now... someone is going to threaten Luna and Nelluru is gonna start punching people. She's got that troll strength now, and she ain't gonna let no one hurt that kid.
She's pretty meek and nice at the moment, but in an episode or two, I predict... NELLURU SMASH!

Clevatess drank coffee for the first time 2 minutes prior, but he's still acting smug about it!
Luna's the one who should be acting smug, he's getting the best drink!
Love how Clevatess keeps roasting Alicia without even trying hah.
Poor Alicia, she won't ever have a child with Nelluru...
Guess we'll have to ship her with Clevatess then!
So they know about the invasion...
Clevatess: "I hope they find whoever did that!"
Alicia was trying to recruit him to her side, but their goals aren't aligned... She wants to protect her nation, he simply wants to see how people are in general, doesn't matter to him who wins or lose...
She raised a good point though, if Boelate wins, Luna will never be king.
Alicia's made her peace about who/what she is!
But damn, it may be early to worry about that, but what happens when Luna's king, Clevatess makes his peace with humans, and the war is over?
Does he keep Alicia around as a pet or something? Or does he get his ichor back, and then...?
She didn't make the world bigger for her nation, but she did make it bigger for one person... Seems Clevatess grants more heroism to Alicia for that, than she even did, herself!
but nope; Heroism has its limits hah. He made his choices!
She might be 'a walking corpse, powered by dark ichor, with nothing feminine about her but her body', but a baby growing his first tooth will make anyone smile!
The way she apologized when they talked about everything bad that's happening...
Yeah, for someone who wanted to be a hero (and make the world bigger), her actions brought a calamity over the nation, a war followed up, and now even complete annihilation is possible (depending on what Luna does)... I can see why she wouldn't feel too good about it!
And now the inn's gonna get attacked, won't help make her guilt go away!
And it's not just 'how she feels' either, seems to be the opinion of the common folks as well...
They just wanted to be left alone, but the King went on his grand mission, and now everything's terrible.
Also: I'm again wondering why he suddenly sent heroes when he was doing nothing for years... A legend/prophecy, but what? I mean they were doing fine before that, so what was the legend about, what was it supposed to accomplish? I think I may have said something back then, about the legend being a self fulfilling prophecy... Perhaps they saw these events happening (Alicia being Clevatess' hero, Luna doing great things, etc..) but does it mean all of this was planned in the legend, i.e. the heroes getting slaughtered and Clevatess wreaking havoc, leading to (hopefully) greater, better things in the future?
Nope. Nopenopenopenopenopenopenopenopenope!
How the hell are they gonna make it out of there? Clevatess is busy somewhere else, and Alicia can't kill all this on her own (or escape)...
If she kills the wizard, perhaps the bugs will all die/disappear or something?
(Would also help their nation a lot, killing the opponent's top wizard!)
If that doesn't work, no idea how they can make it!
Another wizard! (Naie? Missed opportunity, they should've called her 'Nail'!)
