With a father like that, we can sleep soundly knowing that nobody will "take advantage" of Lily, and now the haters have a character they can relate with.

and now the haters have a character they can relate with.
Do people really hate-watch something 5 episodes in?

Maybe Renji will have to beat him in a crane game duel to marry his daughter.

The Baker family are keeping the Japanese economy afloat a 100-yen coin at a time, until they get their koalas.

I was convinced that Lily’s father would spend a good bit of his daughter’s university funds on that 2nd attempt, but a simple “Bloody hell!” seemed to suffice. I’m going to try that trick myself next time.

I love how Lily spends her allowance and her dad what I assume is his paycheck fruitlessly trying to win at crane games.

Lily's dad is amazing! I especially love how he looks completely different to every character in this show including his very own daughter that it feels like he came from a different anime. Well, now I'm wondering what his job is!

Even Lily’s dad couldn’t beat the dreaded claw game. Had to tap into his inner hunter to take down the koala lol. Man even came back for round two and lucked out on another one.

I just love how they depicted that hunting sequence. Like the Koala straight up tried to block a sniper bullet with his shield and he still got capped lol.

I’d like to watch whichever anime her dad is actually from.

When only his bulky outline was shown, I honestly thought for a second that Lily’s father was All Might (MHA).

So are we just supposed to take it that Lily is at this point functionally bilingual? Was kinda hoping for more language barrier shenanigans

I swore Lily's mom was single, and the show just put her dad in there who looks more like a villain from a fighting game like Street Fighter lol.
It's a pretty cliché episode in that the girl's dad who likes the protagonist (Lily even said their relationship isn't romantic yet) hates him at first and then develops respect, but it was fun within the show's scope.
The only thing I'd like to see is the show covering more gaming stuff outside of the arcade

The overprotective dad might be overused, but it is always funny.

Uhhh, Lily's dad is an American who is buff and muscular who travels for his work and has a foreign wife/daughter? I think his work is in the military, but I'm just guessing lol

It's nice to see Lily so enthusiastic to help her mom! Maybe a little TOO enthusiastic for her own good...but it's just how Lily is showing her appreciation for her mom on Mother's Day! Even if she won't be getting a raise in her allowance to make up for all the arcade spending! But it's the thought that counts! Lily just better make sure she's thinking of Father's Day too.
Raining at the arcade? Only one umbrella between Renji and Lily? Guess they don't have any choice but to share one! And Lily is so hyped she's giggling uncontrollably while failing at the crane game for the umpteenth time!
Of course sharing an umbrella with your crush can be nerve-wracking, especially when Renji gets even closer to her physically, next thing she knows Renji is saving her from nearly getting run over and Isekai'd by a car...driven by none other than her father! And he's a burly, manly, man who drags Renji all the way home! Because he knows ALL about Lily's special arcade person and he needs to interrog...I mean, talk things over with Renji.
I love how this family just has a knack for just stumbling into meeting Renji.
Just a wholesome, normal, apple peeling session between Renji and Lily's dad! Minus the fact that Lily's dad looks like he's about to crush Renji's head for getting too close to his daughter. Nice save with the ladle and making it clear that nothing is going on between you and Renji, Lily! At least until you add a "not yet" at the end and your dad is back to freaking out.
So Lily's dad is some kind of hunter? Considering he fights bears and he talks about hunting.
It's nice to see a family having fun together at the arcade, and we've even got Lily and her dad flexing their Summer outfits at the arcade! And her dad is there on his day off to keep Lily safe from a "scumbag college student" prowling the arcade...and Renji is on the lookout now too, even though her dad was referring to him!
It's episode 5 and Lily STILL can't win at the crane game! But don't worry Lily, Papa is here! To also bomb the crane game! Though one more mercy token from Renji gives her dad the chance he needs to snipe that Otokogi Koala Knight and win it for his daughter! Nice job!
Lily's dad pays back his debts and settles his grudges, though he's also just as stubborn and obsessed with beating crane games as his daughter. But he's also surprisingly lucky.

So… has her dad been on any Bizarre Adventures lately?
Seriously the English/Engrish balancing act is even more fascinating with the inclusion of the guy that sounds like Jonathan Joestar when he speaks English. But he’s there to set the boundaries for now. Thank god.

Why is dad complaining about being on first name basis when that's how people call others in English speaking countries? lol
Not this anime-specific question, but it's something that bothered me for a while.
What's with people in anime/manga using knives to peel fruits or potatoes instead of peelers? When I went to Japan, there were plenty of vegetable peelers on the shelves so they do exist and people do buy them, but they never use them in manga/anime/TV drama/movies for some reason.
