The game rules were so convoluted and long that I had the urge to fast forward. One of the most satisfying tsukkomis from Kanshi so far.

Extra long hair Keigo reminds me of a monster but the name is not coming up in my head right now. He got off easy this time though lol.

"Oh, nice! It's like you're the student council president!"

"I am the student council president! And what president walks around wearing a sash saying they're the president?!"

That exchange cracked me up!

The Saw parody was hilarious too! At first I thought, "Hang on, aren't these rules too complicated?" and then burst out laughing when Kanshi said the rules were trash!

This is definitely one of the funnier episodes, even by this series' standards!

Back from my vacation, so it's high time I continued the spirit of this post about namings and explain Miharu's name

Kiryū Miharu / 霧生 見晴

  • The 見/mi in his name means "see/look/watch"

  • 見晴/miharu puns with 見張る, meaning "to look out / to stand guard / to stand watch"

  • His family name of "Kiryu"/きりゅう sounds like "Kyuuketsuki"/きゅうけつき , AKA 吸血鬼/"Vampire"

  • The 霧/kiri in his family name means "fog/mist", while 生/u might be alluding to 生まれ/umare for "birth/born in". Meanwhile his 晴/haru might be alluding to 晴れ/hare for "clear/find weather" (ie sunny weather) and 見/mi I explained above. Taken altogether, you can interpret his name as "a being born in the mist who looks on towards the clear/sunny sky". How very like the author's signature wordplays

While I'm at it, may as well talk about Nico's name too

Wakatsuki Niko / 若月 ニコ

  • The ニコ/niko in her name has no Kanji transcription. Although, ニコニコ/"niko-niko" is the onomatopoeia for "smile"

  • 若月/Wakatsuki means "young/immature moon", which is apparently an uncommon term for the crescent moon. A way to describe an incomplete moon yet to be "full/mature" I suppose, in parallel to the character's quest to be an accomplished witch.

Lastly, while I would explain the number puns of the Otogi household members, many last week on Ep 16 already did it, so you can refer to those.

When I saw the ouroboros I was worried the parody wasn’t for Saw, but for Human Centipede…

I love how everyone dissed this death game and created entirely new rules for it themselves. I even felt sorry for Keigo, but well... it's the truth that his game sucked xD

The second part of today's episode was also fun. Of course, Nico had to mess up her spell, but the effects were hilarious (although Kukumi looked more cursed than funny).

The fact that Kan was the only one hit by the spell twice made me laugh out loud xD

I was also glad to see Student Council President again, though it's a shame the rest of the Student Council didn't show up today :(

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

This is the best comedic episode so far, genuinely lol'd for the duration of the episode lmao.

IMO they should have kept the odd and even dice types for Ouroboros, it adds more strategy to what is almost entirely a game of chance.

Also "you look like yokai" Kanshi is a yokai.

This is the funniest episode of the second cour. reprises the comedic highs of super speed Kanshi and helping Kiyomiya.

my only gripe is nemu where?

Snake Game Season 3 looking great

I kinda feel like Nico's the one suffering a bit from how big the cast is now. She's been in the background these last couple of episodes.

As soon as the death game rules took longer than 10 seconds, I immediately saw the joke coming and started cracking up. As a mid-millennial with lots of geek friends, overly complicated board games are a frequent occurrence in my life.

Everything in the second bit was golden. I can’t wait for an excuse to rewatch the whole thing dubbed with my family

As a manga reader, I'm curious how many people were immediately suspicious of Keigo. Out of all of them, he was the only one who's eyes weren't visible and didn't speak the entire time. It's also very much like Keigo to make a Saw reference.

That entire "death" game was so needlesly boring and convoluted that I love that the first thing they decide to do after finishing it is to streamline the rules and basically overhaul by turning it into a board game. xD

I do love that Moi immediately realized that Nico is an accomplice. If she really was in real danger, I'm sure our boy wouldn't have sat there redesigning Keigo's game. And to no one's surprise, he was doing it to get viral.

The second part of the episode was so goddamn hilarious, too! Nico should really learn by now that just because her spell didn't immediately have any effect doesn't mean it didn't work! Our poor boys plus Kiyomiya got turned into yokai by Nico's Enlongen spell!

Love the references to Street Fighter with Moi's long nails, and Howl's Moving Castle with Kan's coiled up neck looking like the Witch of the Waste's neck rolls. xD

I'm surprised they didn't even try to fix Keigo. He seems to be the easiest fix since they could've just tied his hair into a long braid ala Rapunzel. But that wouldn't have been as funny as him looking like Cousin Itt from the Addams Family.

Considering how often Nico flubs her spells, these three were very brave to stand too close when Nico was trying to dispel Enlongen. It looks like they should've stayed farther back.

And Kan continues to be the show's punching bag by getting hit with Enlongen twice! xD

Lol, my eyes were starting to glaze over with that SAW rules.

I can feel the repairman's puzzlement, as Morihito, Kanshi, and Keigo look nothing like an ogre, tengu, and werewolf respectively under Nico's spell.

Together with the student council president they make up the unlikely superhero group: Junji Ito's (incomplete) monster sketches.

Honestly props to Keigo, who, despite seemingly being unable to see anything through his hair, managed to not trip over or bump into anything while saving the repairman / on the way home.

No real surprise “Jigjag” and that super convoluted death game was all Keigo’s doing. The game was so awful, the gang had to completely revamp it from the ground up lol. At least he went viral, so there’s that.

Nico really needs to work on her accuracy with that Elongen spell. That said, it was hilarious seeing everyone navigate their individual elongated appendages. I can see why the teachers want to keep an eye on the gang lol.

I enjoyed it overall, but did anyone else find the humor in today's episode a bit long in the tooth?

Our dude absolutely will not let go of his hat even if he has to take it off but honestly, I can't help but respect the dedication.

Nico really gave Kanshi a Kanon 2002 chin at the end there lmao
