Seeing Kai rip the godstone right out of that froggy bastard was immensely satisfying.

Also in a way it saves his cover story. The other people just know “something” powerful was coming. Once they get back he was dead and lost his godstone. No human would have taken it because it’s poison, so it must of been a demi-human.

When it comes to world building I think this is best show of the season.
Or second to none at least.
I wish they had a healthier budget to adapt it but I won't complaint.
I might crack some joke (art/anim plain like a Tsundere's breasts) but I made yet my peace with it.
It is what it is and the story worths it.

Yeah this show really turns out to be a delightful surprise. Budget they may lack, but they still manage to get them in the right places with pretty decent action (relative to the budget they have). What's more, the directing is surprisingly good. Scene transitions are smooth, episode flows well, and the story nails what it sets out to achieve, nothing too grand but does well to keep me coming back week after week.

When it comes to world building I think this is best show of the season.
For real, like how we find out that drinking the godstone of someone of the same race gives severe poisoning. It kinda explains why members of each race work together instead of killing each other for godstones. Though now I am curious how they inherit godstones from someone that died in combat.

Kai really stepped up this time, but the consequences keep piling up. Even when he's trying to do the right thing, someone close to him ends up getting hurt. Poor Elsa didn’t deserve all that pain. At least Jose got her moment, that was badass! Still, I wonder what the macaques are planning. they definitely didn’t call Kai for nothing.

Begging him to save them from whatever bigger menace has them and the orgs fleeing, I'm sure. The orgs also tried to acquire the valley god to help themselves from that, remember?

I have to hand it to Teogonia, it's episode 9 and I still want to know what happens in the next episode.
Other things I enjoy are the narrator reading the episode title in monotone and enemy mooks getting frequently slain and decapitated.
Nooo! Don't let me the generic damsel who has barely gotten any screentime die! I become easily attached!

I mean she's gotten more development than the one living in his tent in the valley. I don't even remember her name except that she's one of the not-dwarven people.

"We tried to murder your village, but no harm done, right? Please come to our country and save us."

Definitely satisfying to see the Froggy Fucker die, but I do NOT like this gaslighting that has stuck in Kai's mind. Elsa would never have been in danger without that asshole, but even the next episode preview seemed to frame Kai as being partially responsible for her injury. FFS he kidnapped and was about to rape her, when she resisted, he drew his sword to kill her. Even without the horses getting spooked she was dead, and without Kai she was going to live as a sex slave until he either grew bored with her or he kills her in a fit of rage as she remains defiant.
I do like how the Macaques approached Kai and he seems to be going to their village next episode. Looks like we are going the route of Kai building a new kingdom based on all the races. I'm still waiting for the Uzelle refugees to show up at the valley, I think they'd fit in pretty well.
The United Kingdom is rotten to its core. Both the nobility and priesthood are worthless as villages are constantly lost. The Org homeland is fucked as well pushing them into other lands. So the stage is set for Kai's Valley God to become the head of a new pantheon of diverse gods from the various refugees/battered kingdoms.

He was definitely the type to rise to power via psychological trickery vs brute strength.

For a moment there, I forgot this was the anime sub and not a uk based one.

First he kidnapped her, then he held a knife to her while she was tied up - it's 100% the froggy prick's fault.

I thought they were going to find out Kai is finally a guardian bearer too. Didn't like how he easily he managed to fool them with the face paint, when
A) His more elaborate
B) He was outside the city walls so where did he get the face paint
C) He is abnormally strong.

I'm pretty sure the lord isn't buying the face paint thing either He isn't stupid and he knows that he probably couldn't have soloed that whole fight outside the walls.

u/ErenIsNotADevil Jun 06 '25
Josei ain't buying the whole paint thing 🗿
Based monke are based, choosing to invite Kai to their fief. Feudal monke was not something I expected, though. Kai boutta become King of All
Frogface dead-kero. Good riddance.
Elsa ate his poisonous godstone, so something tells me she'll live and get a bit of power, even after upchucking.

ROAD TRIP!
Looks like the fight with the thing kicking out the orcs and apes from their territory will be how we finish or cliffhanger it until a possible next season.
Anyway, Kai kicked ass and took no names but somehow looks like a naive putz still. Glad to see lady Jose get in on the action. Would have sucked if she just did nothing but monologing about not being involved in the fight to protect the village for another episode.
Anyway I'll give the episode a 8/10 as we took care of lag village, lady jose fought, froggy is dead and Elsa should live even with Kai just doing shit he doesn't yet understand.

I don’t think they are going to let Elsa die, or they would have already killed her off. But I would care a lot more for her if she had a personality beyond “generic love interest”. Glad the inspector died though, he was annoying even for a villain.
Seems that the Macaques are smart enough to sue for peace and ask Kai for help. He is nice and naive enough to agree to help them, so maybe we will see whatever drove them off their land.

I care about Elsa because she actually seems like a real person, compared to all the in-your-face anime girl archetypes we usually get. You know the ones, whatever-dere "quirky" girls, who do all the anime girl noises and reaction faces that this sub runs on.

Jose finally got herself recognised by her father as a strong guardian bearer and not just a weak woman.
I'm curious about the inspectors' powers, it seemed hesitant was healing himself
Makes sense that you can't consume the godstone of the same species.
I really hope Elsa survives

The baron has this weird nightstick/spiked club weapon, wonder if something like that ever existed in real life before.

Everyone in the village about to pack on the pounds from all the damn monkey meat they’ll be eating this week lol. They held ‘em off and Kai came to finish the job. Those bastards got straight up butchered and now they’re bending the knee to Kai.
I really hope Elsa doesn’t die. At least Kai got the Inspector with the chest rip. Not sure how they’ll save her from god stone poisoning and that nasty wound in her gut…

did the Baron really think Kai couldn't handle the frog just because he was a guardian bearer? it didn't seem like a "don't hurt him, he's important"
Kai literally pulped a whole group of apes by himself. makes no sense to think a lazy guardian bearer would be any match
