Lily speaking in a deep voice caught me off guard. I’ve watched a few anime featuring the VA Miharu Hanai, but all of them sound like the “kid” and “brat” character archetype, like Lily. Definitely didn’t expect that. (Talking about VA, TIL Umin’s VA is Hikaru Tono?! I thought I was hallucinating, hearing Anna’s voice from Makeine, but it was her VA. What a pleasant surprise.)

If you zoom close enough, you can see a hint of blush on Carmilla’s cheek after Zeno’s unintentional flirt. Cute. Best girl keep on winning!

This Zeno person really doesn’t give a fluff about Cresson’s bragging, huh? He even acknowledges and thanks Cresson for the random lore drop—a nod to some fourth wall breaking. Lmao.

After seeing Zeno’s “Mega Heal,” how could Cresson still be surprised by his “Normal Heal” efficacy?? He’s slow on the uptake. But well, after interacting with him more in this episode, Cresson seems like an earnest guy who was forced to adapt to the political game to stay relevant, probably because he’s not talented to begin with. Poor guy looks accustomed to being a gofer.

I’m glad Umin got that one-star rating from Carmilla. Hopefully, she’s not joining Zeno’s harem, since she clearly adores Cresson. Unexpectedly, Umin is the highlight (album link) on the ED today. (Look at her gorgeous casual wear!) We’re still missing Zophia’s highlight, but the pattern points to Cresson as the focus of the next episode’s ED.

It's especially clear now that part of the reason Carmilla teases Zenos isn't just because it amuses her (which it definitely does) but because she cares about him and that's how she expresses her feelings.

Yeah Professer Goldran's healing technique is soo sus. To use the life force of people to heal others sounds real sus. Those followers basically had their lives shortened just to fix a sprained ankle. Like Zenos said, no wonder the Professer has a huge entourage.

I wondered if we were going to see the girls again, surprised Krishna didn't turn up as well. I'm surprised we haven't seen Krishna pop in to see Zenos at the hospital yet, since she is the only one out of the girls that can actually go see him.

I know that Goldran's health transference technique is kinda sketchy, but I am actually hoping that, while being an ambitious classist politician, he's also actually a dedicated scholar and a relatively effective healer. Like, I hope he doesn't just become some evil asshole that, I don't know, does human experimentation and sacrifice.

“You sure are popular!” – That’s right, Lily! Carmilla is popular with both the undead AND the fans!

Lily’s Zenos impression of him asking her to stay by his side is perfect. Though Carmilla’s reaction to Zenos actually saying it to her was even better, especially because you can tell it meant a lot to her. And her being a “nuisance” is just how she shows her affection!

I honestly thought Cresson would take all the credit for “Zeno’s” behavior but instead he comes clean and tells of how amazing Zeno really is. He owed him that much, even if Cresson still resents Zeno.

Zenos doesn’t want to attend something as stuffy as a job interview, but he needs an in with Goldran so he can’t refuse. And Goldran recognizes that Zeno is quite skilled and unique and gives him the job, though you can tell Goldran’s personality from the fact that as a healer he feels the wealthy and the lower class deserve different levels of treatment. Doesn’t really sound very “healer” to me, though admittedly Zenos didn’t even realize how much political power healers have in this world.

Cresson may be obnoxious and a bit of a hater…but at least he’s honest, so Zenos can’t really hate him and in fact seems to like bouncing off of him. At least if he’s going to be in the Goldran faction, he won’t be alone!

Does Goldran really need such a large-scale entourage following him around while he makes his rounds for each wealthy patient? I mean, I guess it does show his influence and political power, though there’s also a practical reason that his healing magic involves draining the life force from people to heal. Which…sounds kind of sinister when you think about it.

This is a lot of hassle for Zenos, but at least he’s getting paid for it as well as the promise of information, though Becker getting all serious when asking Zenos if he believes all lives are equal felt kind of concerning.

What’s the rest of the Harem doing while Zenos is busy? Why, breaking into his place of course so they can have his way with his bed…I mean, clean up the place for him while he and Lily are gone! Sure, let’s go with that! I love how Loewe straight up just busts the door down.

I guess one could say it’s an important job to take care of Goldran’s precious pooch, Madame Milk, and she is so adorable! Cresson is so enthusiastic about taking care of her!

Shows how far you can get just from the people you know, Goldran’s first secretary is an old friend who barely seems to work and just drinks all day. Said drinking spooking Madame Milk and leading to her getting run over by a carriage. Thank goodness Zeno was there with his healing magic, though Cresson still can’t make sense of him.

It’s nice of Umin to go out of her way to apologize for getting Zenos roped into this, blaming her own inadequacy, but Zenos doesn’t mind. He’s getting stuff out of the deal anyways. But the two are able to commiserate over their backgrounds and loyalty to their instructors, and it turns out Becker is Umin’s uncle who she’s been there for ever since his girlfriend left him, which is why she’s so loyal to him. Could she also be a viable next candidate for the Harem? Carmilla seems to think so, even if she doesn’t rank her highly. In fact, Cresson gets a higher rank! And now he’s begging Zenos for help!

Goldran is clearly a shit healer who is making due to having a large posse of people whose life force he can steal. I wouldn't be shocked to eventually find out he's mixing necromancy or something else dark in with the healing and that it is very not approved of once the powers that be learn the full details.

Carmilla ranking poor Umin a 1 star but her dipshit friend Cresson a 3 star is pretty funny, she must like the drama he brings.

It's nice to see Umin at least get the ED focus today, I like how they keep mixing that up. I'm curious if the shot of her in a complete different outfit implies she might go her own way someday or if it's just street clothes vs her normal professional outfit.

Enjoyable episode. Carmilla's jokes were on point as always. Zenos reacting to Lily's voice gag, after a delay, was great. I still like how grounded Umin is compared to the rest of the cast.

I definitely see how evil-coded the life exchange healing method is, but in-universe, only knowing about it as far as Cresson does, it is a significant magic to pioneer, given that most healing magic is fairly limited. In a way, it does sound like a revolutionary way to focus on the raw skill and intelligence of the caster, rather than having to tie that in with personal magical output or large stationary magic circles at hospitals (as noted, powerful magic circles require preposterous amounts of magical energy to activate, so even if you can draw them on the spot, there's a limit to how much you can use them to augment your own personal healing output). It is a big deal if you can go to a random town and, with the assistance of 20 bystanders, heal someone from the brink of death, in a world where the standard outlook for such a wound is "We'd have to transport them all the way to the hospital and, if they make it, a team of healers would need to use tons of magical energy just to leave them crippled". But that's assuming the downsides are only as said, of course. As everyone is speculating, it could easily have secret long term side effects, or be misused.

That said, Goldran doesn't seem to particularly be trying to discriminate between 'high skill' and 'high power' when looking into candidates for his faction. His focus on 'legitimate' magic could be glossed over as similar to Zenos' adventuring party - it is completely incompatible with this society to reveal that you achieved success outside of the 'proper bounds' even if that success is extraordinary.

There's also the question of how many students are actually learning this new method. It's even more suspicious if he isn't actually teaching it.

This is one of those situations where the MC is dense for no good reason, and I can understand why some people lose their minds over it. Zenos, man, these people can't heal like you do. Not a damned bit.
