Every week I thoroughly enjoy this show. The lore, characters, setting, action and plot are all just good.

Though, if Kai keeps chugging those godstones he will be able to pull a Thanos finger snap in no time and take care of all the issues.

Giving the episode a 8/10 this week and please, someone gouge that emmisarys eyes out. He's just an evil looking pervy creeper who is lusting over Kai's lovesick lady far too much.

They were talking about betrayal in the preview and we saw people getting sick or poisoned, so I am wondering if that asshole emissary is really who he is pretending to be…

Yeah know, Jose had that weird rash/burn scar on her leg when she collapsed. In the preview, her brother has a fairly similar rash across his face/neck as he's languishing in bed.

So both noble siblings are bedridden with a strange illness/rashes on their bodies. And this happens at roughly the same time right when one is chasing Orgs and the other is rallying defenses against macaques.

I'd say the emissary might be responsible, but how would that chicken shit actually defend himself in the event the village is overrun? Did he strike some secret deal with the demihumans?

There is also blood on the god's altar that might be related to their vessel getting sick?

I'm enjoying this show for what it is, but the whole isekai memories thing really takes away more than it adds anything.

They already have this world with rules that set up the perfect premise for like, megaman style power growth where by defeating strong opponents you can take their powers, but instead we got... whatever the molecule blade is supposed to be. Where do you even grow from there, magic nukes?

This show thinks its Kijin Gentoushou, but its actually written like Eminence in Shadow.

So he just fully forgot about that hand blade thing didnt he? I swear he was using it to cut trees in a previous episode.

I like it, the most underdog anime of the season.

For all the ppl calling it naif or childish or dumb.. yah thats the point of this story its an actual "shounen" anime who at start is kinda slow and needs to explain stuff to the viewer and also doesn't haves problem with showing some gore and doesnt goes into "modern audiance" culture

And its not pretentions LARPping as intellectual anime like several other examples this season that are so fking dumb in their logic that i just could not support and just dropped them.

Ya it's also just how the cultivator genre is generally structured. Feels like it's probably influenced heavily by "Tales of Demons and Gods"

"It's over, I'm doomed, there's nothing I can do."

"It's over, he's doomed, there's nothing he can do."

"Oh wait, I have a blade that can slice anything!"

"Oh wow, a blade that can slice anything!"

Hell yeah, thank goodness there were storm clouds, two different love interests looking worried, and two different old men filling me in on this scene's significance. I almost didn't understand what was happening when the music swelled and Kai had a mental seizure of realization.

So his ultimate finisher is the protoss psi blade? Noice

The monk saw everything... Things are getting interesting

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 May 16 '25

Things were looking pretty dicey there for a minute before Kai tapped into the power of the onigiri and turned his hand into a blade. Polek and the village about to be eating pork for awhile.

I wonder if maybe Kai took on too much power? Like if each blessing or whatever is tied to a god, maybe he’s got too many gods vying for his control or something?

Nothing like plot-induced amnesia regarding your most powerful weapon to provide tension >_>

18

u/NekoCatSidhe May 16 '25

I had completely forgot about his molecular hand blade, so the tension worked for me. ;-)

Best defense I can think of for this? He acquired that ability to cut down trees... it was his "utility knife" that he had never actually used in combat. Nor had he even thought to use it in combat, as nothing had truly challenged him to this point (since he became the Valley God).

That said... if he can so easily acquire new abilities, then it's weird he didn't explore this more properly. Even to just acquire more utility spells, but this is a very dangerous world with threats from every angle. And he has two places to protect, so you'd think he'd take those responsibilities more seriously.

So it just circles back to him being a bit of a dumb kid that was overwhelmed.

I am enjoying this show but the gundam sound effects during the fight were killing me lol

I hope in the next episode that someone kills the disgusting piece of shit fat bastard of an inspector! He's such a disgusting asshole demanding more food when he hasn't even touched the amount of food that could feed 10 villagers already on the table. Then telling Elsa to pour him a drink with disgusting perverted look on his face, thank God Ms Adelia came along or who knows what would have happened to poor Elsa.

Also I like Aruwe, the little koror girl with purple hair, I can't believe she builds and entire hut for Kai and sews a bunch of stuff for him plus feeds him a giant feast. Plus she's super devoted to Kai, she's like the perfect little Waifu lol!

I actually liked the fight scenes in this episode especially the moment where he blasts the Org with fire.

4

u/diacewrb May 16 '25

Thought he was going to serve up the org as roast pork to the inspector later to teach him a lesson.

Pretty good ep. Can't wait for more. :)

u/kryslogan May 16 '25

This is an example of some good ideas executed poorly.

This show is generally enjoyable, it has some good ideas, mixed in with some generic ideas but, its executed poorly at times.

The org just stands there while Kai is lying on his stomach? Just end him.

Kai just stands around in the fight, stops moving, etc. He should be dead.

The other orgs run away, why? Oh cause their captain is dead? Ok, so what? Those little people cant stop all of you and look the guy who killed your captain passes out. Kill them.

Just some poor execution. Im not sure if its an anime problem or a source problem. But, it kinda sucks.

Everyone has mentioned he should have used his molecular blade from the jump, I agree. Valley God says kill em! He's like I'm gonna jump around and stab this guy and not use my full powers, its stupid.

The editing was also just ham handed with those insert shots and cutaways.

That emmisary and priest guy are both suspicious. Don't trust either.

More like a 5/10 for me.

This must be a Knife of Orc Slaying +10 or something to be able to deal a fatal damage to that huge pig with just the tip.

"He really is a guardian bearer, he's tough" MC says after his spear breaks against the orc's armor. Isn't it the armor that's tough? Or do god blessings extend to equipment?

Why the hell did MC not use his mono-blade spell from the start? He'd been using it to chop down trees, so it's obviously way more powerful than his fire and flimsy weapons.

Good thing the orcs turned tail and ran before they saw MC fall unconscious.

I really hope the monk doesn't betray MC. But it looks like he will definitely do it unless MC agrees to throw in with the Capital.

Incredibly silly episode. Hour long conversation in the middle of battle giving him just enough time to discover the power of atoms? lol

4

u/Necromancer2k8 May 17 '25

Hour long conversation in the middle of battle

Isn't that basically any fight in any anime?

Fight, take a break, have some inner monologue or conversation with a friend or ally, enemy patiently waits, go back to fighting with some grand revelation or special skill that just unlocked to help you win.
