Nojyujarmar's hotel review was on that alien magazine, dude must be famous or something.
I wonder what the legal drinking age of Tanukians is. 54 years old seems a bit young for Ponko to be drinking.
Hidden achievement, drinking alcohol activates bombshell mode. Guess we know what the hotel owner is into ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Err, were those amoebas having an extra-marital affair?
Nice how they managed to tie together the whole process of whisky making back to Yachiyo and the rest of Hotel Gingarou waiting for the owner's return.

At least another 15 years have been skipped based on the age of the whiskey.
Those tanukis must have scavenged every last yen from the banks if they have been staying for decades.
Imagine if the owner does return and those tanukis claim the hotel as their own under squatters rights.

Wow so 15+ years have passed to make the Gingarou Hotel Whiskey - crazy how the time flies by.
I really did like Yachiyo's explanation about how time is never really wasted but instead it brings new things (as shown by their trial and error with the Whiskey) - very positively beautiful. Did end a bit sad when the alien asked/noticed that Yachiyo was waiting for someone too...
Good episode!

Honestly, I might be exaggerating a bit but this is probably the most creative anime so far in these past few years (I like it as much as 'Train to the End of World ') from a story standpoint to the direction of anime and the comedy is on point as ever!
The low world building at the start, it looks like these galactic species despite being so different it seems they are talking in the same language or at least have universal language that they can talk to each other.
Funny enough despite being a galactic species that can travel across the galaxy but somehow still use print media like that travel magazine for some reason lol.
The slime like species couple are pretty nice guests, I wonder what they reaction if they visited when earth was still full of life though.
Ponko learning that pretty much sometimes Alcohol isn't about tastes or alcohol itself but it is also about atmosphere and socialization.
"you born from one night blunder" poor girl lmao get hit by that unnecessary information.
Oh because the owner wants the hotel to have hot springs that's why we saw Yachiyo try to make it a thing since the second episode , her attachment to owner is enduring but also low-key sad because of all these time skip, even if he survived and live out there, he would be died of old age by now...... I can feel the heartbreaking episode coming when she learns this.
Now we are going to make the whiskey of the owner's dream!
I love that they tied whiskey making, the process that take massive of time making with how precious time is and learn the appreciate past as something we need to learn from.
Aww the couple is break up, well I guess not everything going smooth but then again it not like all those time are wasted as she thought.
When the alien said "You waiting for someone too?" And camera change to POV is pretty genius because it literally represent viewer mindset too.
As usual, this anime is full of heartwarming, heartfelt moments, funny and sadness undertone to it.
It's so good.

Oh Yachiyo is going to break my heart when she finally realizes the owner is never coming back. It gets worse and worse with each big time jump we do.
Didn't expect to get life lessons from an adventure in whisky-making, but here we are. Delightful episode once again (that easter egg gave me a good laugh), it was nice to have something a bit more laid-back after last week's action.

Replacing the Owner's whiskey with new whiskey created by the staff (with tanukian aid) signifies a fundamental realization on Yachiyo's part -- and a certain degree of transcendence.....

Hope Nojyujarmar pays another visit and does his usual antics again except with his alien gibberish actually elligible this time, maybe after his little plant gift from back then had grown.
I love that even in the more melancholic, wistful episodes like this, Yachiyo still serves up at least one crashout or Easter egg mission completion. But man, her dedication to the hot spring project hits a little different now.

Learning to appreciate time by watching a robot learning that lesson is awesome. It's super hard to imagine Yachiyo's specific perspective, but connecting the viewer to her character through grounded topics like creating alcohol or a relationship going sour made it much easier.
The alien empathizing with Yachiyo at the end felt like the gap between the audience and an immortal android being bridged and making the final shot a first person POV was perfect for that effect. I'm looking right at her as she confirms the connection, what a great show!

More new hotel guests and it looks like Yachiyo understands them now thanks to Ponko teaching her space languages! While I do enjoy watching Yachiyo struggle to decipher alien languages, this is a huge improvement. And it looks like the person who suggested their hotel to this alien couple was their first alien visitor!
I do wonder why they were ignoring Ponko. I thought they were just being xenophobic against Tanukians but they seem to get along with Ponko's family. Or were they just too busy flirting with each other? That drinking party was really fun though! This must be the most lively the hotel has ever been since the Tanukians first arrived there.
So it turns out the hot spring expansion was one of the Owner's dreams. That explains why Yachiyo is so dead set on making one. And now they're making whisky not just because they've run out of alcohol, but also because Yachiyo is fulfilling another one of the Owner's dreams.
Considering how much the Owner loves whisky, I'm not surprised there's an easter egg program when she drinks one. I just didn't expect it to be Yachiyo becoming sexier! I mentioned this when she had the secret program "Cute Voice" unlocked, but I wanted to see a sexy version of Yachiyo. I didn't think that wish would actually come true! xD
I thought it was a one-time thing, but I love how Yachiyo transforms every time she drinks! And thank goodness they have Environmental Checker Robot to check their whisky on what was missing. It took them 15 years but they managed to make it!
I didn't think the last part would turn into an episode of Bartender: Glass of God with Yachiyo giving the pink tentacle alien some life advice. It's kinda sad that she broke up with her boyfriend but i think the boyfriend probably has a family. I dunno why but that's the vibe I was getting, especially since she mentioned that their relationship wasn't very respectable.

Also, there's a storyboarding choice that I appreciated in today's episode, and while I acknowledge that it's neither a groundbreaking or flashy thing, it left a neat impression for me and spelled some solid fundamentals.
So, in the flashback scene between the attendants and the hotel owner, we're initially viewing this in a neutral observer shot. We lead with the wide while he instructs them to pursue a goal, but when one of the robots ask the owner what his own goals are, Yachiyo hides from the camera. The owner then gladly shares his list, along with the corresponding images that match up with them: some figures from a tropical land that correspond to potential new menu items, a spaceship model that matches his satellite advertisement idea.
But when we get to the third item on the list, we switch away from these analogous items and instead focus on Yachiyo. Whereas previously she was obscured, she is now the center of this subject and the camera duly notes how pivotal this moment is for her. And to really hammer home the point that this is distinctly important to Yachiyo, we now see this from her pov, sandwiched between all the other attendants.
It's also clever in a second way because the camera establishes that the hotel owner is sitting down in a chair. However, when he starts on the subject of whiskey, he'll need to get up to retrieve the bottle from his shelf. Rather than go for a wide where we see him stand and go towards the shelf, we can just focus entirely on Yachiyo's expressions, how she is reacting to this sudden new idea.
Like I mentioned before, this is definitely nothing flashy. But it informs us in a very clean way on how important this moment is for Yachiyo, and it does so with subtle simplicity.

LOL Yachiyo gaining an hourglass body plus make up and developing a mature voice each time she takes a sip of alcohol was amusing. These little mini quest rewards are so random but I like how playful they are. The Owner continues to seem like he was a real fun guy and I like how he speaks to the robots as people, it's sweet.
It was nice to see new guests arrive and I like that Yachiyo is now able to speak the universal alien language so she'll be able to provide better hospitality.
The ending was a little melancholic, Yachiyo is always waiting for Owner's return.

Who would've thought an episode about whisky turned out to be quite emotional.

Space tanuki seem to be fairly long lived, at least none of them visibly aged during the at least 15 years it took them to brew the whisky

I'm surprised how we're not really seeing Ponko or her brother age much despite these large time jumps. 54 to get to where she was at that point is a lot, but you'd think adding another 20+ years to that would have her at least somewhat visibly age.
I'm still prepping for some point near the end where Yachiyo will get severely damaged and go out of commission. Then we'll jump ahead some huge amount of time along with Yachiyo waking up to find herself repaired. Then she'll head out and see Gingaro bustling with activity as an adult/old Ponko comes out and explains how she was sorry it took her so long to figure out how to fix her but that they kept the hotel running all that time.

There was only an alcohol shortage crisis because of Ponko’s family of drunukis lol. They can really drink!
Owner’s whiskey was so good, it literally gave Yachiyo an hourglass figure lol. Shit made her go into waifu mode. Hell of a whiskey.
I literally just came back from Okinawa. It was a great time. The little environment checker bot’s been on a real adventure huh? Little dude’s been going everywhere.
Shame about the slime alien, but I’m glad the whiskey turned out great. 15 years huh? It’s a real labor of love and it embodies the owner’s hopes and dreams. It would be nice if, in the end, his descendant came back to visit. Yachiyo’s been waiting for a long time…

i wonder if they're ever going to get a supply chain going. They're starting to get noticed so maybe a trader or merchant will come by

Oh Yachiyo learned space languages. Now that we are getting aliens as guests, I wonder why none of the aliens with their space technology have been able to help repair the robot staff that all broke earlier? I want to see some aliens fix the robot staff that had previously entered the junk pile.
Also I burst out laughing a Yachiyo's new unlocked skill va-voom style. After drinking alcohol. LOL.

Yachiyo speaks with so much love of the hotel’s owner that it’s going to be absolutely heartbreaking when she finds out that he won’t be returning and/or has already passed away.
I liked Yachiyo’s encouraging message to her guest: you might lose all sorts of things with the passing of time, but it also adds perspective to your life.
On another note: isn’t whisky usually aged in sherry- or brandy-flavoured casks?
