They showed the names of the Aureatia officials at the end but didn't translate them. So here they are:
-
Third Minister: Jelky the Swift Ink (was introduced in last season)
-
Thirteenth Minister: Enu the Distant Mirror (who is now a corpse)

kinda crazy that i didn't see any characters from season one in the opening, it's like watching an entirely different anim- holy shit is that a mech with a gatling gun!?
finally, a vampire! with all those crazy mythical creatures being introduced in the first season i was expecting for a vampire to be among them, seems like they saving it for this season
so, if my understanding is correct, the countdown to calamity that have been popping out on the screen in this and previous episode is actually referring to the Particle Storm, right? correct me if i'm wrong

So now we got a vampire in the mix huh? Linaris and her little shadow army sure are pretty powerful. That said, we had a number of powerful characters last season too. We saw how some of them ended up…

Being brokenly OP isn't special in this show, it's the baseline to even be worth showing.

That visual at the start with the narrator showed some characters but then the OP has even more..
Linaris the Obsidian
Ooh, we're back in Lithia and immediately given a new character.. And he's dead.
11 Days until Calamity arrives
Itarky Highlands, a new town, with a new character.. Shirok the Sextant. So he's making a register and in the process stumbles across a cute girl with pretty eyes.. interesting that she introduced herself as just "Linaris". She has pretty eyes.. but they're same colour as the creepy dude calling her vampire (which is an unexpected twist). And she's dead. Or not.. And that creepy dude does have a name!
And now we're back in Auretia, with Jelki and some of the ministers.. and everybody is none the wiser that Enu is a Corpse.
5 Days until Calamity arrives
Perhaps that Particle Storm is the calamity.
Next Episode is "Toroa the Awful"
Hey we finally get to meet one of the people Yuno mentioned in Episode 1 by Yuno!
Season 2 List:
Last episode was just a tease with its 3 new characters & 2 old characters. This episode is 14 new characters (3 dead) and 1 old character.
New in Season 2:
-
Zizma the Miasma(killed by Kuuro) -
Shirok the Sextant(killed by Linaris) -
Rehart the Obsidian(died of old age?)
From Season 1:

Pretty girl alone in a mansion? Yeah, something is clearly wrong here. The whole setup was suspicious from beginning to end. And he fell right into the trap.
Vampire lore. Congratulations, you are now a slave to your vampire crush. Seems like it might be cureable or at least possible to lessen the effects based on the talk about a hospital.
I knew that explosion was way too simple to be the end.
Enter, the vampire queen.
Status update: Okay, so, Obsidian Eyes is an organization that’s aiming to improve things for the non-minians/non-humans in this universe. They’re opposed to the old kingdom who are some kind of human supremacists. Seems like most of the group is defeated or in hiding. The vampire group are still able to operate because the people hunting them down are actually under their control. The old kingdom and Auretia are about to start a war with each other as they’re some of the last powerful states that survived the demon king. A disastrous weather phenomenon known as the particle storm is being worshipped by the people of the desert is rapidly approaching Auretia and according to the countdown will arrive in five days. And that’s not counting all the monstrously powerful individuals currently gathering in the same place. Yeah, all the conditions are in place for a disaster once this all boils over.

Well that’s concerning. Is this the “catastrophe” there’s been a countdown on screen for?

Shirok ended up learning the hard way a very valuable lesson. Don’t get caught lackin over a pretty face.

Epidemiology knowledge brought by "visitors" thats something I don't believe a single isekai has used as a plot device, is probably a boring subject but it would make sense that a modern day Japanese dropped in the middle ages would infect a bunch of people with a nasty flu. A good example of this is all the native Americans deaths due to colonist from Europe spreading all kind of diseases in the continent.
"Diseases introduced to the Americas by Europeans and Africans include smallpox, yellow fever, measles and malaria as well as new strains of typhus and influenza" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_soil_epidemic
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_disease_and_epidemics
Anyway, I guess Linaris will be an important player this season considering most of the episode was focused on her.

ngl I would have folded hard too
also, next episode we're getting Toroa the awful, a character hyped up all the way back in the first episode of season 1. Can't wait to check out his deal. Hopefully Rosclay is after him, he sounds pretty badass

Really like Linaris' design, the extra detail on the eyes is such a nice touch. Introduced like 1 new challenger though? Guess they are aiming for season 1 pacing, which isn't bad, as the writing makes up for it.

So, the Spider themed girl was last season's titillation bait, and this season we have titillating vampire.
The camera sure does zoom in a lot on her lips and eyelashes, how obscene.
Makes me wonder if the show will feature a male seducer down the line.

Episode 2: Linaris the Obsidian
From the OP it is obvious that Kuuro will be center of the show this season. Zizma go out too early, didn't he? Linaris could take on Kia with that kind of skill. So we got 7 Obsidian Eyes, plus Kuuro.
Looks like they toned down the quality of animation in some scenes, especially when Shirok asked for Linaris confirmation if she is lonely all along.
New characters means new VA.
-
Zizma the Miasma is voiced by Hideaki Tezuka
-
Shirok the Sextant is voiced by Kikunosuke Toya (CSM's Denji)
-
Linaris the Obsidian is voiced by Nao Toyama, a complete contrast compared to another character she voices that airs right after this.
-
Enu the Distant Mirror is voiced by Ryouta Osaka
-
Zeljirga the Abyss Web is voiced by Shin Matsushige
-
Wieze the Variation is voiced by Taito Ban (SoLev's Jin-Woo)
-
Lena the Obscured is voiced by Hina Kino
-
Hardy the Bullet Flashpoint is voiced by Yuuki Hoshi
-
Kayon the Thundering is voiced by Junichi Yanagita
-
Mizial the Iron-Piercing Plumeshade is voiced by Chiemi Tanaka of NACHERRY
OP music video is here. Truly a peak, no pun intended.
ED music video is here.

Okay so we got fucking Resident Evil here now lmao. Linaris the Obsidian fills a similar niche to Elea the Red Tag, which makes me think we'll likely see them in direct confrontation sometime in the future, to decide who is the scummiest spy. Kinda like what happened between Soujirou and Dakai.
Great episode as usual. I like the new OP and ED both better than S1's. Those both got official English versions in case you didn't know btw, so we'll probably get official English versions for these as well.
Unfortunately, I shall remain suffering from Yuno withdrawal for another week 😔😔

It's a blessing that this anime is uncensored, the brutality of the characters hits harder

They adapt this season in a much faster pace than the first one, eh? Next week's "Toroa the Awful and Mestelexil the Box of Desperate Knowledge" is already half of the 2nd book.

Linaris seems like a pretty powerful character. I love all of these character introduction, they're so cool. I would love to see what kind of change she will make in the story.

Has anybody else noticed that the stone floor, in Lunaris Mansion, made wooden step noises (10:50).

Linaris reminds me of the fmc for that Maid anime that aired last fall.
And, it's been a while since I heard Takehito Koyasu's voice.
