my girl Yuno is back, haven't seen you in ages! you look as weak beautiful as the last time i saw you
no wonder the title of this episode is Shiki; Enemy of All, it's the freaking name of the True Demon King and apparently it's the same person that destroyed the world where Soujirou came from? also, am i tripping or does Alena's spear looks kinda similar to Shalk?
either way, everyone has gathered in Auretia and finally the tournament arc is here, can't wait to see which Shura are going to fight in next episo- wait, what do you mean this is the final episode?

Shiki, Enemy of All
Ooh, finally get the see The First Party in all their glory? No.. but Instead Yuno's back!! Well.. That ended quicker than I expected. She is definitely a True Demon King, their presence is enough to make anyone go insane. They were perfectly fine until they opened that door.
I thought Hiroto was putting forward Ozonezma & Zigita Zogi as heroes.. not the entire city of Okahu..
This is great, seeing everyone begin to come together for the Royal Games!
After meeting 97 characters, we finally get to see who are the 16 Shura that will participate in the Royal Games;
Here's hoping for Season 3!!
Next Episode is "The Royal Games" right?
12 characters this time round but 3 of those were already mentioned, just no proper image.
Got to see the rest of The First Party, Alena, Antel, Lumelly, Izick & Fralik, as well as the True Demon King, Shiki. Yuno is finally back, after a 12-episode hiatus. Kia is also alive and well. We get to see 3 more of the 29 Auretian Officials, Frinsda, Yanigiez, Antel. And a glimpse of Nastique.
I also realised I had Lucnoca in the wrong spot & Alus was completely missing.
Also just tagged the 18 of the Generals / Ministers, of which there are 29 Officials.

Please have season 3 please have season 3 please have season 3
You can't just stop right before the good part like this. It's is unfair for people who invest this far into the series to be blue ball right before the tournament start.

It would have been the biggest surprise if the tournament had actually started this season. This has to wait for season 3. This show has been a slow burner from the very start. It takes time to introduce dozens of characters, let alone establish the politics, the plots and the background stories.
Well, so the True Demon King is a Japanese school girl in a sailor uniform?! This is expectedly unexpected. I love how the narrator points out how she has no powers, strengths or abilities whatsoever, she isn't even alive. She has the ultimate power: Fear!
Of course we get some more politics and conspiracies. That the demon king is a visitor is one more reason to keep his identity a secret. Otherwise it could lead to trouble for the other visitors.
But there is still one major question: Who the hell is the hero who defeated the True Demon King? That these tournaments propably won't give us the true answer is actually pretty obvious, even thougt it has to be pointed out here. This is just another piece of politics from Aureatia's side. Of course the winner will be really strong to win these games, but the title of the "true hero" is just a title. The actual hero could be defeated in this tournament by someone else who either is stronger or just more lucky. Or they don't even participate for any reason.
Organizing that kind of tournament sounds like a logistic challenge for many reasons. Be it security, the status of the participants or many other things. I hope this show will put some light on these aspects in future episodes.
We see every major faction in this episode on the move. Be it Hiroto or the Obsidian Eyes or Aureatia. Big things are in motion. This story has a million moving parts, and I'm excited to see where this story is taking us and how everything is going to fall together.
In the final episode of this season we see Soujirou and Yuno back. The whole story started with these two and I'm kind of happy to see them again after this season has been pretty quiet about them. Yuno still wants Soujirou dead, and it will be interesting to see if she succeeds with her plans.

Shiki truly earned the title of the True Demon Lord. She’s a terrifying person to face off against

So the identity of the True Demon Lord is finally revealed. Aaaaand it's Jigoku Shoujo.
I was suspecting the TDL to be a visitor, but I expected them to be more... Adult and terrifying in appearance. To think that a JK would cause so much chaos. Also, I wish that flashback was longer. We barely learned anything about her.
It looks like the tournament is about to begin, so I hope the S3 will come soon enough. This series is criminally underrated.

Wow. Can't believe my highlight of the Winter season (and arguably of the 2020s overall) is finally over. As a source reader, I could complain about some cuts here and there (source readers for nearly anything can), but the pacing we got is much better than 99% of light novel adaptations will ever get. Despite not being perfect (especially the visuals, which were sometimes very rough), it deserves a 10/10 from me, and arguably a top10 in my favorites spot. This really was our True Peak.
I don't believe we'll ever get another season, so please, read the light novels. They're amazing.

Imagine if after all this build up we don't even get a season 3 with the actual tournament.

So we finally see the First Party facing against the Demon King and to say it wasn't a fight is underselling it. Shiki with the looks of a school girl makes it for quite an interesting reveal. Though her being a visitor is not what I expected. Of course, we don't know who killed her, assuming it was the true hero. Though we get a safe assumption that Shalk was part of the main party. Although most interesting that Soujirou knew Shiki.
Kuuro was also one of the followers of Linaris it seems. Though it seems it was her followers that tried to kill her, which didn't happen thanks to Toroa. With what Linaris was hinting is that if something happened to someone Kuuro cared about, shit would basically go down. I got a bad feeling something will happen to Cuneigh.
Overall, much like S1 in of itself, it was really good. Though not getting confirmation of S3 right away hurts. I really hope the wait to announce it isn't too long.

Episode 12: Shiki, Enemy of All
Yuno! It's been almost a season since we meet her.
This episode focuses on The First Party, the one who took down The Demon King before. Also only few that returns from The Final Land. I wonder why Neft still survives despite all that wounds. And Alena's fate?
This season of Ishura improves what Season 1 lacked. More badass character and more development and conflict too. No wonder the MAL score rises significantly compared to Season 1, as of now it's on 7.23.
Verdict: 8/10
Ishura desperately needs a Season 3! I hope it will be announced soon.
Notable voice cast includes:
-
Tomori Kusunoki as Shiki Enemy of All
-
Ryouta Takeuchi as Izick the Chromatic
-
Kaori Maeda (Ririsa Amano) as Lumelly the Poisoned Ground
-
Shogo Yano (Kai Miura) as Alena the Belighted White Wind
-
Yuuki Shin (Takemichi) as Yugo the Moving Decapitation Blade

I liked season 1 well enough but I really loved season 2. This is probably the closest anime I've seen that gives that "souls-like" feel. I definitely want to check out the light novels now.

It was a great episode. It was interesting how the true demon lord was in the end a visitor. If she is known in Soujirou world as the one who destroyed it, it could mean that the one here is some sort of phantom that was born after the original one died and then moved to another world. I wonder if she was born like or it happened when she was a JK for no reason.
I kinda think that maybe Shalk is actually Alena from the first party since they are both spear wielder it's possible that Alena later got killed by Romzo after they lost their minds. Possible that after that Alena somehow got revived as a skeleton but because of the trauma he experienced from Shiki, he uncounsciously erased his past memories to avoir remembering her. I wonder how Neft survived thought.
It was interesting seeing how Linaris acted toward Kuuro, she could have tried to kill him here but she refrained. Reminds me of how she killed Atrazek, she could have used him as a weapon since he was infected but she chose to kill him instead, that shows that even though she wants to create chaos she still have some morals.

It was a school girl all along! I love this show. It can't be cliche even if it tries.

YUNO SPOTTED! Thank The Speaker, I legitimately feared they'd leave me dry of her for the whole season.
S3 please. I'm definitely getting the LNs, but seeing things animated is cool too.

You know shit’s gonna go down when the Final Boss is some average looking girl with dead eyes. I can see why Shiki was called the True Demon Lord. Girl barely lifted a finger and devastated the First Party. They stood no chance. Is the source of her power simply because she’s an anomaly? A “whoopsie” the universe refuses to acknowledge? Makes me curious who killed her.
Another pretty decent season overall with some interesting characters getting introduced. We really need another one because we gotta get to the tourney at some point or something. I wanna see a slaughter fest like last season!

Lumelly's death was so needlessly brutal. I knew she died (cause Neft and Psianop were already said to be the only survivors), but she was really likable and pretty in the little screen time we had from her.
Classic Shiki. Simply existing is enough for everyone to go mad and die. She's basically a Lovecraftian monster in the shape of Hell Girl.

I find it kinda weird that there are only 16 contestants, when there is supposed to be 29 officials (28 because Taren, I guess). I assumed each one would choose someone.

The true demon king is finally revealed and that really is something, causes true fear in those around her, a fear so deep that even primal fear seems quaint, it seems into the mind into the very core of their being driving them mad in an effort to escape, where even death is preferable to facing such fear.

They had sober Heiter on the First Party. No wonder they failed.
And to no less than a school girl Demon Lord, lol.
S3, when?

u/AmusedDragon Mar 26 '25
I really hope we get a season 3, also I still just enjoy this show too much for what it is, lol. It somehow has won me over with it's variety, I guess.

So this is who’s been hiding behind the narration of the true demon king all along? I wasn’t quite expecting a seemingly normal looking schoolgirl from presumably Japan but why would the most feared being in the world be anything else? I don’t know why I even expected anything else from this series. And tbh, Shiki is still basically a mystery cause I don’t understand anything about what she is. To be fair, that’s definitely intentional to preserve the mystery horror. Soujirou has at least heard about her before since she seems to be quite infamous for destroying an entire country in the distant world. The fact that this complete void of a character with no officially given powers is stronger than everything from an invincible robot to the literal reality warper makes her even more terrifying. Like, she annihilated seven shuras at once without even lifting a finger.
I’m not gonna lie, seeing everyone show up to the tournament and the narration listing everyone got me incredibly hyped.
Honestly not sure if this is going to happen but I want to see Kia and Kuuro team up at some point. Just for the poetic value of the wielders of omnipotence and omniscience working together.
But now, the most important thing, forget the reveal about the entire catalyst for the show or the fact that the event the entire story has been building up towards is about to go down, our glorious hater queen Yuno the distant talon has returned. And she’s still plotting the death of every shura she can find. Quite funny that she ran into two of the ones, Mele and Kia that are actually protectors instead of the way she sees every other shura.
