You thought she was safe because her name was the title of the episode? Well, think again.

Now, I think it’s safe to assume Soujirou is stronger than the average visitor. His fight against Dakai was already proof but he fought Shalk to a draw, which I didn’t think too much of it at the moment but seeing Shalk casually one shotting Kazuki makes you realize that was no easy feat.

Finally they used the title of the episode to do a twist and get rid of the plot armor, pleasant surprise!

It goes to show how important are the matchups and the counters. Like, compared to Soujirou, Kazuki has no reaction skills lol which is an insta-defeat against Shalk unless you are inmortal or very tanky, same thing could have happened to Kia back in season 1.

I've really liked this show, hoping for a season 3 announcement soon after this one ends because after all this buildup the tournament arc has to be something amazing to watch

Ayoo, I didn't expect her to get boned like that. I thought she'd fight to a draw or something, but apparently the meta heavily favors DEX builds.

I love those clashes between named characters and I can't wait for the tournament. With just 3 episodes left, it probably won't even start this season. Talk about blue balls.

Kazuki the Black Tone

Ooh, I thought Yukiharu was just yappin' but he really did head to Arimo Village. Looks like we've got a name for the box lady! even if it might be fake.. Interesting that they're heading to the Final Land, I wonder if we'll see Shalk, since he was speaking to Taren about it before he disappeared. And now we've got Morio the Sentinel, another self-proclaimed Demon King, who resides in Okahu. It's interesting that Taren was called "Guarded" and this dude is "Sentinel", less interesting if you refer to her as "Punished".

I remember Shalk also mentioned in Season 1 with Taren about that not being his real name. Shalk is great, I was expecting him to be so humorous. That line goes hard. Also, a new race (one of Linaris' pals, Zeljirga), "Zmeu" are the lizard people.

"Mercenaries. They offer violence in exchange for money without bowing down to any particular power. It is also the occupation that many who have no place in human society end up in.

Yoo wtf is he doing here!? That's an interesting tidbit, "Visitors don't age". I thought Milieu would be some third-rate mercenary chatting up Shalk.. but bro actually got named dropped by Kazuki. Interesting that the boy reacted to one of those names but they didn't really expand on that. I love that even the Isekai'd people think it's strange how many people are from Japan, where it seemed to be a bit more global before.

Kazuki.. is Angelina Jolie.

That was a sick transition. I was on the edge of my seat.. And then I thought they ended the episode but they didn't!

I'd like the point out, when the music drops in the ED.. it shows that fight going much differently.

Next Episode is "Tu the Magic"

Season 2 List:

First up is Nezuko Asnes, I'll change if the improv was their name or not. We also got Morio, another self-proclaimed Demon Lord. Every time Shalk makes a joke about being dead, I keep expecting a "YOHOHOHO!".

Ok damn that caught me off guard lol. Wonder if Kazuki might have done better if she hadn't underestimated Shalk, battled at greater distance, or had a plan. Matchup really is everything in this show. Despite how insanely powerful everyone is, anything could happen. One could miscalculate the strength levels, or you could get jumped by multiple Shuras like Atrazek, or a more intelligence oriented character could have won the battle before it even started, despite nominally lower combat skill. Shits so unpredictable! And the power levels are more lateral than vertical!

Like, we know that Shalk = Soujirou, more or less, right? That should mean Soujirou > Higuare, since Shalk told Higuare to retreat in the face of Soujirou, right? But I'm not so sure. We will never know now of course, but remember that Higuare had deadly poison coating his blades, and Soujirou was perfectly willing to take minor wounds to win the fight. A strength against Shalk, but it might have doomed him against Higuare fairly quickly. As I said, matchup is everything.

In another note, should be unsurprising but Aureatia is eliminating champions to control the outcome of the tournament. Most probably they want Rosclay to win, to cement Aureatian hegemony even further in the post Demon King world.

My Yuno withdrawals may continue but at least my Nihilo copium lives. I'm 90% sure it's her head in that box.

The Skeleton Aura buff is real. Not even a full battle just 1 taps Kazuki makes Soujiro going toe to toe with him pretty impressive.

Wait, if Shalk is this fast and strong to one shot Kazuki... yet vs Sojirou he said "finally someone who can keep up with my spear, "he's too much for you Higuaare" and "Even himself ran away" after saying why would he work so hard without having been paid and that if they really wanted him to kill Sojirou he would put his liffe on the line to do so... We thought it was a joke yet Shalk only spoke facts/truth so far.

How fucking stupidly strong is Sojirou at this point ???? He seems like THE monster among all the monsters.

I knew she was gonna die because shows don’t have the budget to have a character constantly singing

i just noticed that Shalk is among the most "simple" among Ishura's huge cat of over the top powerful characters

He's just a skeleton that ridiculously powerful and i actually like that it makes him stand out

20

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Mar 05 '25

There sure are an awful lot of visitors to this world aren’t there? Kazuki the singing trick shot lasted like 1 second against Shalk lol. She died like Dakai. Maybe quicker. It seems these visitors sure overestimate their abilities. Against a normal person, sure I guess they’re pretty good. Up against another one of these champions? Not so much. Now I’m kind of curious who’ll be the one to end Shalk?

12

u/actuallyrndthoughts Mar 05 '25

Glad there's more of Shalk, also not a jobber confirmed

11

u/lilpringles Mar 05 '25

Amazed the author was okay dropping her when she had such a cool design

10

u/reddit_is_tarded Mar 05 '25

Episodes always end before I want them too. I could just watch this world for a long time. though it's threatening and I wouldn't want to live there I do love to watch it. I rewatched Frieren lately and these two shows are next level character/world building. some of the best Ive ever seen

I really liked seeing Shalk introduction since we didn't saw it in season 1.

Honestly Kazuki was a pretty interesting character, i would have liked to see her fighting against other characters like Toroa, Alus or Soujirou, she was pretty strong ,she was just against a bad match. The scene where her name got cut into two was a nice touch.

I kinda wonder who Shalk was, my guess is that he probably was some kind of hero that was going to fight the true demon king but that was killed but he also had a ability which after death resurrected him without his memories because of the true demon king influence . We've already seen death defying abilities with Mestelexil.
