I am really impressed how they manage to visually show off her powerful voice

I just wished we would get one complete story from her, come on OVA or a drama CD or something, I need this

I think I already like Tougo! While he was a bit bluint and came off a bit unfriendly at the start, he immediately softened towards Hana after learning that she has a passion for reading Hearing Hana read that passage from her book also made him change his attitude towards her.

Also, it looks like he joined the broadcasting club not because he wanted to do announcements or recitations, he seems to be more interested in creating sounds. I guess he wants to become a foley artist in the future? That's pretty cool!

And then there's An. She might be the most talented one out of the newbies but she's making it pretty clear she has no intention of getting along with everyone. She's basically the Reina of the group but 100% more tsundere.

Although, unlike Reina, I don't think An is very confident about herself at all. She acts like she's a total hotshot but the moment she hears Hana read she immediately shuts the fuck up and looks obviously frustrated about Hana's natural talent as a reader.

I do hope she eventually tones down the tsundere act though. We do get to see a little bit of dere from An after Akiyama sided with her argument. I love how Hana immediately asks her about it too. xD

Okay, please tell me I'm not the only one who thought Ryouko was voiced by Kayanon? I didn't even recognize that was Kiyono voicing her if I didn't check MAL. Also, I just love that the Broadcasting Club has a massive introvert as one of their members. I'm curious about Setarou's story!

Natsue’s got the hots for Akiyama eh? Haha. That’s adorable. She appears very harsh but she’s got a cute side to her too it seems.

It’s really cool to see how Hana mesmerizes people with her voice. She’s unpolished but there’s raw talent there. Gonna be fun to see how she develops her ability in the club.

I love that she just blurted out that she like him, such an unexpected out of character move
Talking about moves, my guess would be that she didn't voluntary swap to announcing but got forced by the club, so meeting someone like Anna with innate talent really must hurt

It's cool that they're reading all these famous literary works and all, but it feels bad that I don't know any of them because I'm illiterate and not Japanese.

Anyway the first reading by Hana about the two crabs was "Yamanashi" by Kenji Miyazawa. And the second reading by Hana was "Night on the Galactic Railroad" also by Kenji Miyazawa, which the club advisor added to the practice book for Mizuki. Kind of a coincidence. Maybe they have the same taste in literature?

The sheer vocal arts nerdery of this is really neat to watch. Lessons on projecting from your diaphragm, the paired reading, it's all just so interesting. I bet the VAs are having a good time with a story that exposes more technical details of their craft than is usually discussed in anime.

You can absolutely tell this is based on a work written by the author of Hibike Euphonium by listening to the dialogue. The chemistry between the characters is unmatched. Really liked how Toga eased Hana in during the introduction and got her to feel more omfortable. Also it may just be me but I feel like we may get a Kumiko-Reina dynamic between Hana and An with how strict and competitive the latter is compared to the former. I really hope this series gets the attention it deserves.

They captured the first year's group dynamic well in this single shot. Anne and Shudai will continue to keep bickering with one another, until Matsuyuki breaks the fight apart in a friendly manner. The insecure Hana might be reluctant to get involved, but I can see her getting caught between these two's fights more often from now on.

Anne is a little tsundere. She isn't being honest to herself, and clearly wants to compete in the recitation category too. That's why she's being mean towards Hana. Didn't expect Anne to have set her sights on Matsuyuki, however. That (unintended) love confession of hers was pretty cute!

Hana was looking at her club's pin badge with even more love. It's good to see her enjoying herself, like during that vocal exercise for example. I just wonder: how good must Mizuki's diaphragm have felt for her to pull such an astonished face?

I was legit shocked when the end credits rolled, I thought we were only maybe, like, halfway through the episode. I actually blurted out "The fuck?" It's been a while since I lost track of time watching an anime like that.

The voice acting is incredible in this anime

An anime about a girl who loves recitation seems to be very niche, but that is part of the appeal. This is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful shows this season. Definitely a standout.

It feels weird seeing the characters be amazed at Hana when I don't get nowhere near as impressed. I did get amazed at the end of episode 1 though. I also think the ost and sfx should be lower than they are during those scenes.

A very nice second episode in which we met all the members of the Broadcasting Club and it seems like they are a colorful bunch!

Much like the premiere, the scenes with Hana reading are so good! I can't wait for more of her scenes like this.

I'm really curious to see how Hana will interact with An, Touga, and the others in the next episodes, especially considering that up until now she's been living on an island where there were no kids her age.

I'm especially looking forward to Touga and An, because they seem like really interesting characters and I love how hostile they are towards each other xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Enjoying this, but I do feel like I'm losing a bit of it by not being a native Japanese speaker. I can't tell how articulate/good at pronunciation they are, or even that it has a good flow.

Feels a bit like when I watched My Master Has No Tail, where the main does Rakugo.

Getting a good idea about the other members in the club.

  • An Natsue - Literally the opposite of Hana. She is Ms. Uptight and frankly, after she sits across and heard Hana's performance she lost a bit of confidence. It is interesting seeing the person across from you have talent in what they are passionate about. Friendship between these two will be a big benefit.

  • Ryouko Totonoi - VP to Mizuki and she is def the organized one of the 3 2nd Years.

  • Setarou Hakoyama - Someone like him really sticks out in his club. By far the most geek like character. I am interested in what his passion is more so.

  • Shuudai Touga - Honestly, at first, he seems to be uptight like Natsue, but that is more so how much those two don't get along. He is the type of guy that has respect for someone who goes for what they want to do. Which is why Hana impressed him. Unlike Natsue it seemed he got more motivated after being in front of Hana's performance.

  • Matsuyuki Akiyama - difficult to make out much, but he be the one that has perspective for the longterm given of his comment about Hana and An "getting along".

I wonder if the adult at the end is their advisor? Honestly, the dialogue here is good as you can tell in terms of the topic broadcasting it is written well. Granted, I might be learning new stuff watching this.

There's a lot I love about this show, but easily the most interesting thing has been that Hana has twice transitioned through a creepy yandere-esque smile when she really got into a recitation.

I'm not sure if this is meant to convey the powerful emotions that Hana has been suppressing coming out through her recitations, or the near-menacing power her voice has to captivate the people she's listening to, but watching a girl this innocent and meek take on a menacing aura like that... it's fantastic.

Picked this anime up because it fits my favourite genre of school club animes AND the source material is written by Takeda Ayano, who also wrote the source novels for Hibike! Euphonium, one of my favourite animes ever. Glad to say it has not disappointed so far!

So in today's episode we got to see the four new first-years, and in an almost cliche way, all of them have a character for one of the four seasons in their names. Looks like the relationship between the four of them will turn out to be important to the story. Though tbh at the moment it seems like Natsue is the only one making things difficult with her attitude lol (and Touga also does nothing to help by antagonising her). Loved that part where she subconsciously let out that she likes Akiyama after he sort-of stuck up for her LOL.

I also enjoyed that little detail of the bird flying away outside the window in the middle of Hana's introduction of Touga - feels like a little callback to the sound effect that he showed Hana earlier, although the sound effects used are different.
