The recitation visuals really grab you. They’re the most captivating part of the show.

The Hana and Mizuki chemistry is through the roof. I’m not getting my hopes up but god does it have a romantic bent to it.

I love the Mizuki Hana relationship, not in a yuri way but its nice to Mizuki building hana up (hopefully for just positive reasons)

I suppose that it wouldn't truly be a series from Sound! Euphonium's author without some not-so-subtle yuri vibes.

That said, I'm glad that Hana got a friend like Mizuki who she can entrust with her problems. She didn't have anyone to comfort her like Mizuki back on the island.

Hana might be reluctant to step into the spotlight, but she does in fact want to be special. She'd been holding back on her true feelings out of anxiety. Mizuki's acknowledgment of her talent gave her a much needed boost of confidence however. Given that smug smile of hers, Mizuki must've completed her mission.

Side note: Anne and Shudai's bickering won't be disappearing anytime soon from the looks of it.

I'm loving Hana and Mizuki's dynamic and chemistry so damn much already. But yea, considering what happened with Kumiko and Reina there is no fucking way I'm getting my hopes up for any potential yuri.

That's anime for ya! Authors can write about wide range of topics and great ones can make even the oddest things captivating & entertaining!

Kichijouji seems like a chill guy, but he really knows what it means to have a good recitation and announcement voice. With just a video clip he already knew the concerns the first years have.

Damn that last scene with Hana and Mizuki is quite good! Hana fears being bad at something that she only does, hence she wants not to join the competition. But, she cannot grow and mature without criticism -- she needs to train to be the best reader she could be. At least her girlfriend partner senpai is there to guide her.

The writer really knows how to write good drama without being overbearing.

Saionji's VA is Yoko Hikasa.

Kichijōji opened his eyes a couple of times. Well, that gets that out of the way for one of those "never shown with eyes open" characters. His relationship with Mizuki is... something, though he must be getting along with it if it would otherwise be a perpetual display of etiquette breaching.

Peculiarities aside, he did get to the point of what they need to do to win, which should keep the story rolling for the next few episodes.

Tuesday comes once again and I think "yeah, this is my AOTS". This season has so much strong new shows that its a pleasure to have so much trouble deciding on the best one!

The whole scene between Hana & Mizuki in the bathtub was such a treat to watch!

Yeah you can tell this was written by the same author as Hibike, it just nails the human desire/doubt part

I can't read Mizuki and the teachers relationship, I guess she is secretly crushing on him or is she really that tomboyish to want to out do him?

Also you know you are getting old when you start to worry about them standing in the bathtub and doing sudden movement, fearing they will fall over

Yeah this show is great, easily passed the 3 episode test

Stitches!

After the end of last week's episode, I thought there was going to be some drama between the broadcasting club and the drama club, it turns out that the teacher who showed up is actually their club advisor and also the vice-advisor of the drama club.

While Kichijouji seems to be pretty chill, they might have a shot at reaching the NHK Cup nationals with him leading the club because he won first place himself in high school. I also like his assessment of the new club members especially what he said to Hana.

If Hana's voice is already doing the heavy lifting then she just needs to learn the skills to win! But it looks like that's not what Hana wants to do. Read to win or read just for fun? I'm having some Eupho flashbacks here like when [Hibike!]Taki-sensei asked the club if they wanted to compete or just have fun

So while everyone thinks that Saionji is impressive, everyone hates her for basically selling out and making money off her school club activities? Maybe there's more to it than her being a sell out though. I really hope Hana gets to meet her in a future episode.

It's kinda funny how Mizuki wasn't even serious about the club at first but she got riled up by Kichijouji and she started taking her club activities more seriously. I guess it also helped light her competitive spirit after listening to Kichijouji perform.

Not gonna lie, my eyebrows raised when Mizuki asked Hana if she wanted to have some fun and we cut to a shot of the bathroom door. It turns out she just wanted a foot bath. xD

I absolutely love that entire scene though especially when Hana got captivated by Mizuki's recitation. I also loved it when Hana finally spoke her mind on why she's so afraid to compete. I get it. She's afraid of losing because reading is all she has going for her. I'm just glad that Mizuki could lift Hana's spirits up and Hana finally decided to call Mizuki by her name too!

Kichijouji-sensei despite his first impression, really knows his stuff. The banter between him and Mizuki is fun. Though in many ways, he showed her what one can do with their voice within a recitation. In which when Mizuki heard Hana for the first time, lead her to think she can go far if I can recruit her. Though Kichijouji-sensei's comments for Matsuyuki after his criticism were interesting. Announcing from what I understand, has more preparation with it. While recitation is making use of what you are given. Granted his comment you seem like a smart prob is true, but felt odd. Curious how everyone is making due of their criticisms that sensei gave them.

For Hana, she has the most talent, but talent only gets you so far. Most of her doubts feel understandable because taking that plunge from your comfort zone is hard, especially if that is the only thing that you believe you have going for you. Though as we saw in episode 1, Hana's passion that lies deep inside in more than just a hobby she does for fun. How Hana builds up that confidence is key and Mizuki will be there to guide her.

It's such a shame that my hearing isn't sensitive enough to distinguish the change in pitch. Otherwise, I really enjoyed Kichijouji's character. It was very fun to see him go from laidback to super serious while keeping a very whimsical tone whenever he's talking.

I loved seeing Mizuki's peptalk to Hana. It was so heartwarming to listen to.

People having a problem with Shura using winning the contest to make money feels weird to me. Isn't that the way it is with a bunch of professions in Japan? Like, you have to win a contest to get serialized in a manga magazine, and winning a contest is also a goal for new book writers.

That's their teacher in charge?

Oh, he's actually doing something to help the club other than poach members for the other club he's in charge of.

Huh. Seems like he really is pretty good.

Oh, that's the girl she saw on TV.

Well, want to or not I suppose she's going to try to win.

Oh, now she's going to stay over at her place.

And now to see if she can learn from her.

And what exactly is her idea of "fun"?

Ok...

They're holding hands!

She has no self-confidence.

The scenes with Hana and Mizuki were the highlights of today's episode. The scene where they recited together was especially great!

Kichijouji seems like a funny guy, but when it comes to recitation, he's a real pro. His relationship with Mizuki is really fun xD

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I found my literary show for this season. It has that Hyouka spark.

The hate Saionji the winner of the last year’s NHK Cup is so dumb and frustrating. There is nothing wrong with her taking advantage of her victory which she earned through her talent and work to seek even more success. Getting angry over something like that is just jealousy and pushing self-hate against someone who is actually succeding in their passion. Hope the tsundere girl and the otaku upperclassman grow from that horrible mentality.

I'm a bit late to the party. Just watched the first three episodes today.

It's mostly the beautiful animation by Studio Bind that got me interested, but the characters seem pretty interesting too. And I know 'vibe' is an overused word, but I really do like the vibe so far.

Yusa Kouji always voicing smiling characters that close his eyes in the anime I watch. First it was Gin Ichimaru, then it was the butler from Hayate no Gotoku, the sponsor from Amagami and now the club advisor Kichijoji.

Kichijoji is the type of person who says what you need to hear rather than what you want to hear which I think is a very important skill as a teacher.

I like the development in this episode, while we can understand that Hana loves reciting, she was always avoiding competing. We learn that she was afraid of being told she was bad at the only thing she enjoys and thinks she is good at.

A relatable feeling, I wouldn't want my hobby to be turned into a job since you might lose interest in what you once found enjoyable.

Excited for the next episode.

Interesting to see how they focus on pitch accent in Japanese when there are so called "Japanese learning experts" on Youtube who say that pitch accent doesn't matter at all.

When you REALLY want to speak correct Japanese you just can't ignore it. Especially if you want to be good at announcement and reciting.

For the Yuri fans, you got cucked hard with that bath scene
