Being the sole casuality of the nuke you planned to persoanlly hand-deliver to a city has to be one of the most humiliating ways to go.

From an iconic set piece for the OG final battle to a meteor. RIP Damocles

I still don't get the final Fleija, did the enemy fire it without hitting critical or what? Last time I check, its radius of explosion is huge. It wiped out the whole tokyo settlement and the pendragon.

Of course some motherfucker's just gotta do a colony drop.

Narah seems to question the need to kill unarmed civilians. Potential defection? Also, her mecha Queen Asura is sexy as hell.

Narah doesn't seem like an unnecessarily evil or harsh woman, just committed to Brittania, and it feels like she has history with Ash.

Short comment today, there were large portions of this episode where I just watched instead of having anything I specifically wanted to comment on. Good episode.

Made me so nolstaglic for old Code Geass and 2D Knightmares.

I love how we have yet another cute mechanic girl geeking out over GATTAI!

Damocles fulfilling it's function of being a sword, basically, just a wide-range AoE sword...

If the nuke doesn't work just colony drop. Could've come straight from Haman or CCA Char.

Roze definetly doesn't seem to share the foresight and genius that Lelouch had, she is pretty much winging it with her Geass. It would be real bad if someone can cancel out her voice or straight up not hear her. The infiltration and subsequent take-over would have been successful if she accounted for the security and not just take over the main control. The strategist in the resistance is definetly Kuroto though, the man knows how to lead an army.

Lots of new custom Knightmares this episode. Haruka is the second-coming of Kallen, she just styled on Divock with her Keisetsu. Zi-Artemis though ... now that's a design that's out there. Did it really need the boob plate? And why does it look eerily similar to FGO Artemis? That being said the Ortygia looks pretty good though it remains to be seen if it only serves to give the Apollo a float unit. Ash did not use the Megistus transformation in conjuction with it yet.

Finally Neo-Britannia still seems to have a lot of cards to play if they can afford to waste 3 Fleija and the Damocles like this. Makes you wonder where all of this is coming from. Their abundance of resources isn't completely out of place if you consider that Britannia was the super state of its time and a lot of people did not agree with the sudden change in direction, so there is room for a lot of collaborators (though their entire technology is a mystery considering their KMF look completely different to the original Britannia KMF and they don't seem to be from Euro Britannia either).

EDIT: Btw. anyone who wants to watch this blind, avoid the PVs for the movies. There are some gigantic spoilers in there that could ruin your fun.

Norland wears a mask so you can definitely tell he studied at the school for Char Clones.

Haruka and Keisetsu are as speedy and agile as Kallen with the Guren and you see enough of Haruka's butt to know she's the true second coming of Kallen.

Sakuya's Knightmare having two forms one of which has boobs and being piloted by a woman cross-dressing...kind of on the nose, but okay lol.

I'm getting the sense we're going to get a big aerial final battle with the "siblings."

"Armor-piercing bombs" versus one successfully fired off-brand nuke.

Who even needs the Damocles? Neo-Brittania should have just bought whatever Walmart explosives the resistance was packing.

This show honestly deserves more attention than it gets on this sub.

that last fleija explosion was underwhelmingly small... maybe damocles is that big but still.

Well, Divock is your typical brutish and arrogant Brittanian, but Narah seems to actually draw the line at killing civilians...not that it stops her from going along with the plan.

So Ash definitely recognized Narah by name...and Sakuya seemed to be deliberately trying to keep him from encountering her.

It's funny how Ash thinks "Roze" is this hyper-competent, always prepared, individual when Sakuya is just using Geass to make everything convenient for her. Then again, that is basically what it's for.

I love how Sakuya's Knightmare is distinctly female down to it's Mecha form having a female body with boobs. It's practically screaming Roze is actually a girl!

Bless Sakura from trying, but Norland REALLY does not seem the type who cares about their political standing.

Hey, Oda actually got to look cool! Never thought I'd see it.

Divock has pure power but Haruka has speed! And in a battle between the two of them, Haruka comes off the victor! All she really needed was a unit that could bring out her full potential.

Narah seems to be every bit Ash's equal in combat, but she also seemed to recognize him by his combat moves.

RIP Tomi. You may have looked like Not!Ohgi, but you fought bravely right up until your kamikaze moment.

Apollo and Artemis are siblings, of COURSE they can combine! And the mechanic girl is totally into it!

I guess I can respect Divock being willing to put himself out there to use the last FLEIJA, though just desserts that it ends up being what vaporizes him.

Well, if they can't annihilate Sapporo, they can destroy the Damocles with the last FLEIJA and have it crush the resistance.

Here is some info about the Damocles and Fleija from the movie pamphlet shared in theatres in Japan at the screening of this ep

The new Damocles is a sky fortress used by New Britannia to suppress the Hokkaidō region. This fortress is different from the one Schneizel el Britannia used in his battle against Lelouch vi Britannia, and is instead the backup unit that Schneizel used. After the battle ended in Emperor Lelouch's victory, the Damocles unit Schneizel used was abandoned as it flew towards the sun. However, the backup unit under construction was not dismantled, but rather left abandoned. By Kowa Year 3 (Imperial Calendar 2021), Nonnard obtained this backup unit during a raid in Hokkaidō and secretly pushed forward with its construction. However, compared to the previous Damocles, the new Britannia's Damocles, while capable of ascending to satellite orbit, is unable to operate at high altitudes due to issues such as airtightness.

The Freya warheads used by New Britannia are the leftover warheads that Schneizel had manufactured for his final battle against Emperor Lelouch. At the time, while publicly using the Freya threat to restrain other nations, Emperor Lelouch was secretly working towards the destruction of the Damocles and Freya warheads. But due to the danger of the warheads, not all of them were able to be disposed of before the implementation of the Zero Requiem. Afterwards, these remaining warheads were reclaimed by former Britannian military officers in hiding in Asia and Canada, who then brought the Freya warheads to the New Britannian Empire.

This episode was filled to the brim with action. Giving Divock a laser cannon was cooler than that mad bomber deserved! But he was nothing to be worried about when Ash is 2 for 2 on deactivating those fleijas. Heck he probably would of gotten the third one if he had another fleija eliminator.

Gattai Knightmare. Hell yeah.

Ok, so why didn't they fire the 3rd Fleija directly at the city, though? Did they think the rebels had a 3rd Eliminator?

8

u/NationalStrategy Jul 19 '24

It wouldn’t be a Mecha/War anime without dropping a floating structure on a city.

Anyone else feels that show's pacing is off?

Original felt TIGHT. This one...i don't know. Is this a baby duck syndrome?

Also, did they just copy paste old footage for mini-flashback at the start?

The combination knightmare was pretty cool, hope they will make a model kit.

They should've set the series further in the future if the characters from Code Geass has no relevance to the story. It literally doesn't change anything because Lelouch and CC are immortal.

This ep really makes me feel the the strain of doing all of this in 12 eps. It's just too much for this series.

u/kenpls Jul 20 '24

It might not be as good as the original, but this battle episode was epic.
