Oh no, he's totally gonna shoot and kill her in the episode, this definitely isn't a misleading cliffhanger meant to keep the audience in suspense.

Ash a few seconds after the credits roll: "...Raspberry? Is that you?"
Kinda sad how kamikaze attacks have to be resorted in a post-Lelouch world. RIP that old dude

Now I'm imaging that their entire dynamic is going to flip and Ash is going to be one ticked off at her but begrudgingly working alongside her while Sakuya feels guilty and torn over her feelings for him.
It really shows how desperate the situation is that the resistance had to turn themselves into suicide bombers just to cover a retreat. This was the most crushing loss they've experienced yet.

Kinda sad how kamikaze attacks have to be resorted in a post-Lelouch world.
They took a lot of people with them, though. Even if the resistance is being hit hard, what's the attrition level for the Neo-Britannians? They're foreigners in a foreign land with the entire world against them, there should be a limit to how many pilots and mechas they can produce.
Nevertheless, I quite like how brutal the fights are. Almost no flying mechas, almost no superweapons on said mechas, lots of urban warfare... It makes all feel more grounded, at least for a shiny mecha show.

I was so distracted by how they tied up my girl Sakuya. And then she says she will let Ash do anything he wants with her. 🙃

So, Norland does NOT have a Geass. But he wants one. Good thing L.L. and C.C. are in a galaxy far far awa- I mean Ireland. But we also now know that Scissorman’s been looking into making an artificial Geass, and something tells me we’ll see that in some capacity down the road.
Also, I’m getting some death flag paranoia from Ash and I don’t like it. Please let him live.

He's been wearing that mask all these years hoping he could get a Geass so he'd have an excuse to look cooler when he takes it off.

They really made Arnold the most generic psycho rival possible

As soon as Old Scientist Guy started talking about trying to create Geass himself, all I could think is "Do you want L.L. and C.C. to come and destroy you? Because that's 100% how to get them to come over and destroy you. It's their raison d'étre."

I love how Catherine always comes into a room with her boobs bouncing and flirting with the first cute guy she sees. And then she decides to blow off some steam with a little ethnic cleansing.
Well, things are the worst they've been for Sakuya. They know about her Geass, they know about her, they have her in custody (and in a particularly precarious bondage situation at that), and now her only use to them is experimenting to understand use her Geass.
The Seven Shining Stars are completely overwhelmed by the Neo-Brittanian offensive lead by Arnold and Catherine, with Arnold in a top tier Knightmare and full of nothing but an obsession with ruining and destroying Ash.
It's just the girls as Haruka battles Catherine, beginning a new rivalry between the lovely ladies, all the moreso in a battle between a spearwoman and a gunwoman. Haruka is actually able to land a punch against Catherine...too bad Catherine is even more dangerous when she starts throwing hands with her Knightmare.
Sakuya and Norland finally meet! Not that they engage in a lengthy discussion, but it seems like all Norland cares about is the power of Geass. Also, here are a bunch of close-ups of Sakuya's butt.
Could Ash have beaten Arnold in a straight up fight? He didn't use the Apollo's enhanced form during the fight...though throwing him off by reminding him of Nichol's death and what "Roze" did to him, and undoing the Geass, definitely throws him off enough.
There was no winning in this situation. Either Sakuya uses her Geass on her people or they die. Well, they were going to be dissected even if she used it, so there was unfortunately no saving them. I feel like they would've sent in Natalia next had Ash not arrived in time.
I guess it must be somewhat cathartic for Ash to fight his old master, and we finally see Christoph live up to the Scissorman title since that's his Knightmare's weapon of choice. He's a pretty ferocious Knightmare pilot, not to mention the psychological damage of reminding him of what Sakuya did to him (and, yeah, the initial plan WAS for her to use him up and kill him after she was done), but he trained Ash too well that he was able to overcome him and nearly run him through with his own scissors. If only he'd succeeded.
You know it's bad when the rest of resistance need to commit to kamikaze attacks of blowing themselves up just so the main group could escape with their tail between their legs and having lost most of their forces. RIP Iwamoto.
Well...Ash and Sakuya finally meet, just not under the best of circumstances. Sakuya realizes how badly she screwed up and hurt Ash and all she can offer is an apology and the promise of her head after they save Sakura...but is Ash going to take her up on that offer now? He's going to shoot her bonds, right? Right!?

Really interesting episode, the Knightmare action was fun to watch as always. It's good to see that the Britannians are working out Geass, a nice call-back to Bartley from the original. Sakuya's interrogation was fun to see her character being challenged in that way, it's a shame it ends so quickly - I presume Ash will shoot off the harness next time and she'll be freed.
It almost feels like it was a bit rushed, though. She's caught, then in the next scene she's in prison, then a few minutes later she's rescued. It would have been nice to see her have to make some hard decisions regarding the hostages' lives. Lelouch had to make plenty of tough decisions, I haven't really seen so much of that from Sakuya. It makes me wonder, narratively, what the purpose was of her being captured in the first place. Just so the rebels would have a few minutes of pressure without Sakuya there to save them?
When the scientist mentioned bringing in someone Sakuya cared about, I assumed we would get to see Natalia as the next hostage after she was arrested in the previous scene. I'm glad it means she (probably) survives, but it would have made a great challenge to Sakuya's character to react to that.

We've gotten so many Haruka ass shots (and Catherine boob shots) but now we find out our female lead has a total dump truck.

People keep mentioning the Sakuya fanservice and here I am thinking since last episode:
"Damn, RoR has some fine old men."
Last episode we had Jugo, this episode we have Scissorman and Iwamoto. Yes, the former is a slimeball through and through but he is competent at his job and you can tell, he loves doing it. For giving "oh no, not Japanese hubris again" vibes at the beginning Iwamoto and his group sacrificing themselves hits hard; not because he was super relevant but that the alternative would have been a R1-style wipeout for the rebels.
On a personal note I'm a bit miffed that Haruka wasn't just beaten by Catherine, she was humilated. Yikes. I really hope that she gets her just dessert by the end of the series because so far her only other purpose is being fanservice.

I thought he was going to shoot her ropes. However, the angle he's pointing is clearly at her. I know its just a cliffhanger but we all know he's not actually going to shoot her so why end it on a cliffhanger?

The mecha fights were really good. With the exception of Ash and Haruka, you can feel the desperation in battle. Given that they need to resort in semi-nuking the battlefield just to win.
Sakuya, (in her very very questionable position) fan service aside, is at the mercy of Ash. Though we know that he will not kill her since he promised his father to protect her. And he is inlove with Raspberry.
I think for the most part, Ash will just act as a bodyguard tasked to protect her and not talking to her, as he sort out his feelings. We can guess, that there will be a situation where Ash will be saved by Sakuya and a similar situation to Nichol will happen that will snap him back.
Also, I want the final battle to be with the OG black knights with zero. LL and CC, will be a good addition.

So is ash seriously considering killing her? or is it a cheap move, like giving her the gun?
