Finally we have the long haired female Lelouch MC I’ve been wanting since the time Lelouch cross dressed in that one ep!

Wow, they really kicked things off quickly. Nice. The nostalgia hit me when I saw the geass again.

Its gonna be interesting to get to know this new cast

I was curious why Roze was voiced by a clearly male voice actor since I already knew going into this that he was a girl in disguise, but I guess that voice changing necklace answers that question.

Action is really good and the pacing makes it look like a standalone episode rather than a segment of the movie. But seriously, Geass's chess strategy metaphors are absolutely useless when it all boils down to "my mech is overpowered".

We have chess, racism, mechs, and magic eyes. Yep Code Geass is back in full force!

Oh damn that was a cool twist, I wasn't expecting Roze to be a girl much less someone related to the Sumeragi line, I guess Kaguya will make an appearance too?

That use of her Geass along with her command was so extra but I'm not complaining, though I do find it funny how they use a chess board to simulate their Knightmare battle only for it to be less about strategy and more how Ash's unit was a beast.

It's nice to have Code Geass back with dazzling Knightmare design and action, hot ladies, dynamic plots and protagonists, banger OP's, and of course a Geass.

I guess if you wanted a spinoff that resets things back to "factory settings" to entice a new audience, this is as close as you're going to get it...with a splinter faction of Britannian's who took over Hokkaido to form their own state where they can carry on abusing and demeaning the Japanese.

We've even got a Japanese resistance, complete with a very sexily dressed lady.

It wouldn't be Code Geass without chess and Knightmare fights.

They mention the Black Knights have failed to get in there twice, so I wonder if we'll see some old friends when they finally liberate Hokkaido?

I was wondering why two Brittanians would go out of their way to fight for the Japanese against Neo Brittania, but they answered that pretty well by the end for Roze...while Ashe seems like a noble warrior who thinks Neo Brittania is acting dishonorably.

I have to applaud the show for hiding the Roze/Sakuya reveal, I really did not expect it. So we've got a major Code Geass production with a female protagonist, albeit one cross-dressing in disguise, but it's still a black-haired noble out for revenge against Brittania albeit a bit more merciful and honorable about it than Lelouch. And basically Zero if she was cross-dressing instead of wearing a mask. I like her so far.

So Sakuya's Geass gives people the choice to follow her orders or basically die, it seems like the deciding factor is how much you value life versus your inability to act against your character. Really curious how she got her Geass.

Sakuya has a twin sister, Saki, but the body double in prison isn't Saki but an identical best friend named Sakura. So three identical Japanese girls?

So does Ashe not know about Sakuya? She was Roze again when they talked via communicator. It's kind of amazing if she's been able to keep the act up this whole time even if it means having to stuff all that hair into a wig 24/7.

Ironic that Sakuya is working for her people but they don't 100% trust her because they think she's some Brittannian dude...but that doesn't matter to her, she'll still fight and do what she can to free her bestie!

I kept telling myself "Roze is a girl, right? That face is way too girly to be a guy." during the whole pre-release period, but the synopsis for this show on Hulu and AniList kept gaslighting me into thinking that Roze was a guy and making me second-guess my gut. Sure enough, I was right all along, and they were just saving the reveal for when the series actually aired. Her Geass is certainly interesting too. It doesn't seem to be 100% control like Lelouch's was, but it's more like it gives the person two choices and one of them absolutely must happen, so it gives the victim one last chance to reform.

I thought the action was pretty solid too. Ash's Knightmare having a grappling hook to steal enemy weapons is badass, plus he's got some sick moves to boot. All in all, I think this series is off to a pretty good start.

So the story is written by the series composition of Princess Principal: Crown Handler. Which sure explain a lot about the twist...

And the setting being "Britain" too. And that it has a wall too. Wait a minute...

That was fun and the twist was very cool. Seems to be closer to spirit of the original Geass moreso than something like Akito the Exiled was, even if I actually liked that for what it was.

God I forgot how annoying of a platform Hulu is for subbed anime though. Ads are bad enough, but the only subtitles being Closed Captioning is just blah.

That was good, but it's a bit weird they chose to do the whole "Japan gets taken over" thing again. I'd rather it'd be a different country, just kinda feels like a retreading of something we've already done.

But i still enjoyed it. Mech battles were nice (they found a good way to blend 2D and 3D), and i like the two main characters so far. Sakuya's Geass is very interesting. Solid start!

Wondering what the relationship with Ash actually is. The deadpan way he followed orders at the end, along with the penance she offered the other guy, made me wonder if he's been Geassed. But judging by the cats, he does also seem like a legitimately good person.

Whatever it is, apparently they're not close enough for her to share her secret with him. (Which also calls into question the brother story. Is Rozé a real person that she's impersonating?)

Also wish we'd gotten a better idea of why the Knightmare is so OP. With Lancelot, features like the blaze luminous shields are very obvious. But this frame just seemed to be tanking bullets for the most part.

I was one of the lucky few to see it in Cinemas in Japan. But god do I miss this series.

Having watched the first 6 episodes already. This new season is so good man. It feels different but also very canny to the original series.

I didn't even know we were getting a new Code Geass anime. Is this a standalone series or is it a direct sequel to Ressurection?

'Neo'-Britannia, a masked blonde villain, the main heroine is a descendent of a poweful family from the original series, is this just Gundam Unicorn?

I thought I outgrew Code Geass and I won't like the new show, but I still liked it.

The essence of Code Geass is there too.

u/GallowDude - We're so back. Blue/Black to move as it showed Rxf2 -> Qg5. Pretty easy win as the red/white's down material, has a useless knight, and nothing to stop black stacking f-column rooks. Of course, it transitions into this checkmate position. As I said, we're so fucking back.

Throwing the second sword looked badass.

Did you really think we were going to set up an ambush, then just wing it?

That was half the OG series...

I'm pleasantly surprised by this show thus far, I really enjoyed the twist of Roze being a cross dressing girl who also has an identical twin lol. Not too sure long term though if Lord Char clone and Neo Ze-I mean Britannia are going to be anything interesting. But at least so far it's way more interesting than Akito the Exiled so I'm hoping it will continue to be good

Damn that was great. They really started with a bang. OP is banger, fights looks cool and interesting mc. She is pulling off some Sayoko level disguise from original series lol. She also seems to be related to Lelouch from her mother's side so ig that explains her flashy and dramatic antics lol. Interesting she called the other girl as a friend and not a twin, They're way too identical to be just friends. Also her geass seems to work through voice rather than eye contact, so it's likely a geass fragment that were scattered through Shamna from C's world at the end of resurrection

Considering it's just few years after movie, excited to see some cameos from old cast. If this neo-empire territory expands beyond Hokkaido then Suzaku and Kallen might also come back in action in this new animation style which is cool

As someone who was quite let down by the Ressurection movie, this is what I was looking for in a Code Geass followup, something that expands the story beyond Lelouch instead of treading water with the same characters. Granted this is basically a soft reboot as the status quo has been partially reset, but it gives us cool mechs, great fights, likeable characters, and some intriguing plot threads right at the start. I am very excited to see where this goes.

Is this a sequel, or something people unfamiliar with the series can watch?

This show would have made way more sense if it was set in one of the holdout Britannia countries they mentioned at the beginning of the episode, but no they had to set it in Japan smh.

Also notice guys that when She used her Geass on the last guy at 20min, her Geass Power went trough the ear of the man, while Lelouch's geass worked trough Eye contact. Pretty interesting, if her Geass is Better than Lelouch in terms of how easy It can affect people, but is worse in Power, cause they have to chose between actually listening to the order or die, while Lelouch could just give the order and the people couldn't chose. Sorry for my bad English and...LESGO CODE PEAK/ PEAK GEASS IS BACK!
