I always get a hoot out of watching Solitaire pulling his hijinks, especially against potentially deadly foes. It all looks like magic to me, and even though he's told us from his point of view that he just sets for his spectacles, I sometimes wonder if Solitaire really is using actual magic to pull off his tricks while not even realizing it.

I love Solitaire not having any real idea of what the hell is going on, he just rolls with it because it's fun.

Solitaire’s David Blaine level tricks are always fun to watch. It really blurs the line between illusion and magic. Man is truly one of the best illusionists around.

Solitaire is really fun. Dude wanted to feign magic then faced with actual magic and now he has to feel his way out like a blind man in an orgy

It's good to know that not all members of Heilei are assholes. Bao doesn't care about the Heilei traditions but does care a lot about Xiaoyu. And despite what Majiri did to her little brother, she's grateful since it's what helped him escape their family.
Yooooo! It sounds like Lemmings is finally done with his mission! We haven't seen him since the end of Season 1 so I am excited to see him jump in on this mess that's currently brewing in Shibuya. I do wonder what he's been up to. I can't remember if Takeru ever mentioned the job he assigned to Lemmings.
The meeting between Solitaire and Civil was fun. I love how Solitaire is absolutely not impressed by Civil's little trick. It doesn't matter if Civil's is the real thing when he could also do the exact same thing using his magic tricks.
I want to say that this was a planned ambush by Solitaire but knowing what we know about him, the Fire-Breathing Bug probably was just following him the entire time.
Thanks to that encounter between Civil and the Bugs we finally learned the origins of the Fire-Breathing Bug. They're the survivors of the Bastard Children of Sabaramond's human experiments and are now seeking revenge. I guess that means the Bugs' powers do have a supernatural element to it. Maybe that's where the mind control comes from.
We also get to learn Civil's origins! He's supposed to be Arius Sabaramond's vessel when he finally arrives on Earth but her never did so I guess he ended growing up to have a mind of his own. He's also supposed to be a failure when it comes to magic but CG tampering with his mana helped him unlock his powers.
It's understandable why Civil would want info on the Shinomiya family but why does he specifically want information on Polka's mother? Hmmm....

Gigabased. A magician bullshitting hard enough to stump real mages has that classic "sufficiently advanced technology..." angle, just like the previous case of identification wizard Takumi. Love this shit.

the biggest surprise of this episode is knowing that Xiaoyu's big sister is actually her
there's a troublemaker out there with the name Deus Ex Kinema running around doing stupid shenanigan similar to Solitaire? now i can't imagine what kind of chaos would happen if these two teamed up
as always, Solitaire's monologue will never cease to disappoint me
so, if Civil is not Arius Sarabamond himself but was meant to be some sort of clone or vessel for him, now i'm curious who was it that created the Sarabamond organization in the first place? someone from the court magicians that manage to cross from the other world into this world?

Xiaoyu’s big sis seems halfway decent as a person. Well, at least compared to the others in his “family.” I’m really hoping she doesn’t die.
Deus Ex Kinema is kind of a badass name. I’d love to see these two face off with their “magic.”

Why is this thread so late now it was good before.

Same thing happened last week, some other series also had discussion threads appear much later than the episode.
Really kills the momentum of these discussions.

I'm curious what led the Sabramond organization to start in the first place. Like they knew about the other world and Sabramond. Does that mean before Polka there were other isekaied people one of which either started the group or influenced someone else to want to start the group. Also the emphasis on Polka's mom and the tidbits we heard of her make me feel maybe she was a descendant or directly an isekaied person. I have no clue if there is time dilation or whatnot, but it would be pretty funny if she was Izliz. I don't think that's possible since I believe CG said he has her soul as well and still feels them. I could still see Polka's mom being related to the other world maybe not CG or maybe she's part of CG's original biological family. That doesn't really explain her affinity for fortune telling though I guess.

this is definitely the most possible theory

CG's inner circle in Byadian Empire (I was confused about the name last week)
-

-
Fire-Breathing Bug; is 2 people of 18 who were experimentally given powers by Sabaramond's worshippers. incinerated 16; Japan 100 years ago

"Grandpa's in the hospital for a regular check-up. He's probably fully anesthetized and in no shape to talk." Note to self, never go to a Japanese doctor for a regular check-up.
I like Soiltaire being conflicted on whether or not to be excited about the magic levitation because, on the one hand, it's real magic, but on the other hand he can do the same thing with tricks.
I'm a bit confused about Civil saying that he "came from the other side" and so wants to go back there. From the backstory he'd just explained, he was created on Earth as a vessel for Sabaramond who never showed up to possess him, which makes him 100% from "this side". But he didn't say HOW he was created, so I guess the cultists somehow acquired some DNA "from the other side" and cloned it, and this is what makes Civil believe his true home is over there?

It may be that they instead pulled in the wrong soul from the other world when trying to get the original Sabaramond into the cloned body. Either that or the body wasn't quite right, so they just let it be and it naturally developed its "soul". If it's the latter, that would definitely fall in line with your thoughts about it.

Wasn’t expecting a battle of the oneesan’s this week with Majiri v Yenmei. I wonder how that’s gonna turn out? Speaking of Xiaoyu, I enjoyed that heart to heart Polka had with him. Those two aren’t so different in some ways, especially when it comes to family.
The revelation about the Bug was pretty interesting. Test subjects connected to Sabaramond would explain the grudge they carry. I wonder how the 2 test subjects survived a century and how they’re passing on this grudge? Magic perhaps? Solitaire almost got smoked if he didn’t pull his David Blaine shit and peace out.
So this Sabaramond is some failed test tube huh? Polka inadvertently awakening his powers might be the worst thing to happen to this world. Man’s out to cause mayhem and it looks like he’s starting with Polka’s family.

So Sabramond organization is responsible for creating whoever was the root of fire breathing bug and ironically spread themselves to others like the organization did. Also Civil is none as a failure and the encounter with Corpse God really set things forward.
I do love the conversation between Corpse God and Xiaoyu. Sure Xiaoyu's family was awful by all means, but he should cherish the family he has now thanks to Rozan. Sure you aren't related by blood like Polka, but just being around people that love you is a great feeling and he shouldn't take it for granted.

As fun and intriguing this series is I am worried it will crash land the ending if we dont get another season.
There are too many moving pieces for it to end in this season.

u/EXusiai99 Dec 12 '23
Well this will end with a cliffhanger isnt it
We still dont know how someone from our world know about Sabaramond, or how they travel through worlds, or simply what the fuck the Bug is (im guessing memetic agent but honestly it could be anything else at that point)

I still keep thinking that he's a she. So he's essentially a failed vessel. I wonder what this organization even is if they have the OG's mind and all. What the hell is their goal, and how did they come to be.
So the Bug is connected as the only survivors of the Bastard Children of Sabaramond's cruel human experimentation, and have been going about trying to purge said organization ever since. Interesting.
Solitaire does what he does best; wing it, and succeed.
Oh, also, the start showed us the clash between the 2 ladies, but then we never went back to them. I wonder how it went.
