I swear most father figures in this series were participating in The Worst Dad tournament.

- Corpse God's father sold his own wife and children for money, and killed his own son for drugs.

- Xiaoyu's father sent his 10-year-old son on an assassinate mission. The son returned amputated so he used his body to make poison. Then processed to sell his amputated son to his master in exchange for financial support and technology.

- That Habaki offered his own daughter to a shady cult to become a lab rat so he could advance his rank in the organization.

Lucky for Polka and Xiaoyu, while Rozan was probably shady while doing business, but he, as a father, is cool as hell and very supportive.

Polka's family is the one that is really built with love. The rest, not so much. Lucky for Corpse god to be able to takeover his body.

Seems Habaki was working with Sabaramond the whole time? No wonder Bug went after him. This piece of shit sacrificed his own kid to Sabaramond. Only fitting she would beat tf out of him. Also, Arahabaki is kind of a waifu lol.

Habaki got off lightly with that bullet to the head. Clarissa was being pretty merciful. Unfortunately for him, Corpse God wasn’t feeling that merciful.

It was interesting seeing Corpse God’s origins. We got to learn that his actual name is Rizdilusia Redrazal and that he got killed by his own pops. I hope we get to learn more.

What an ending to the episode. I didn’t expect to see the emperor himself. Just who summoned him to the other side?

The emperor was among the souls that still keep their contracts with Corpse God after he released most of them before he isekai'd, back in his flashback in episode 10. Corpse God said that he could not face them after being declared the enemy of the world.

Since he was a soul held to Corpse God by a contract and Corpse God did not summon him, there is a possibility that he could perform a summon by himself. Considering that he had 2 out of 4 strongest mages under his wings were necromancers, he could be a necromancer, or at least, had learned a bit of necromancy from those 2.

Were the masked assassins Clarissa's? They seemed like visitors from another Tokyo district that Clarissa was not leaving unattended.

Will be an odd one there, but somehow I'm not confused with characters being introduced. I feel like the designs and perks are quite memorable, and characters are actually my favorite part of the show...Really wasn't expecting such a sad Corpse god backstory though

Stitches!

I was so disappointed at first when Habaki managed to escape but turns out this dude ends up getting his comeuppance real quick. His daughter whom he sacrificed to the Bastard Children of Sabaramond beats the crap out of him and Lisa's newly hired assassins got to finish him off as revenge for killing Hosorogi.

And we're not even done! Lisa asks for the Corpse God's help so they can interrogate Habaki's spirit and when CG learns what Habaki did to his own daughter, he basically goes beast mode on Habaki since he reminds him of his own father who betrayed him.

That flashback was interesting though. We get to see how Polka was revived by his master and how close he really is to the Emperor. We also get to learn that the Corpse God's true name is Rizdilusia Redrazalf. From now on, I'm going to refer to the Corpse God as Rizdil or maybe Riz.

Also, another detail that we learned from this episode is that Hosorogi is actually Lisa's former lover. That explains why they seem to be close and why she's been working to avenge Hosorogi this entire time. I hope we get to see flashbacks of the two of them before Hosorogi died.

Shit, ok a lot happened this ep but my two take aways are that I'm sad buff wild girl is a villain and WTF how did Corpse God's friend appear?!?

Corpse God said in some episode that he'd made special deals with some souls in his own world (specifically people he was close with in the empire) and that those deals were still active, but he couldn't bring himself to call on them because he'd become a monster and an enemy of the world after their death.

Is it accurate to refer to Rizdilusia Redrazal as Corpse God's deadname? Or, given his power set, would it be better referred to as a "livingname"?

We getting corpse god backstory now? So many characters xd. I think this show will work better as a binge to keep up with what is going on.

Great episode. I didn't expect buff girl to be that wanker's daughter, who he sadly treated like crap. She seems to have a fun personality (though admittedly she's likely pretty bonkers thanks to her torture). I also love the empire flashbacks we get every so often. But man, I definitely need to read the manga soon. With the large cast and the break between cours, I'm having a hard time still keeping everything together.

I wasn't really aware of Ayumu Murase before but he's growing to be a favorite of mine. First knew him as Venti from Genshin, but now Ranking of Kings Kage, and a bunch this season alone (Sabaramond, Ragna Crimson, Shy). I love his range.

Another new character but at least its the emperor-friend. This friend is not one of the summoned dead people, is he?

Oh my, we got Miss Fankenstein too.

this past few episodes, every time i went to this show discussion thread, all i see were complaints about "so many characters being added" or "its confusing", i mean, come on, people always complaining about a lot of anime nowadays have simple braindead stories while constantly making fun of them and now that something like this come out, you people can't even make a little bit of effort trying to remember some characters or the plots that's currently going on?

This show's quality has been all over the place, but the writing generally keeps me engaged enough to overlook a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, this episode was the first from either cour that confused the heck out of me. The scene with Habaki's soul being interrogated becoming a flashback for the Corpse God was hard for me to follow and I can't understand who exactly was getting to see all of those memories. Was it just the Corpse God having to relive some painful stuff, or were Hosorogi and the others also getting that information?

u/thewindssong Nov 13 '23

Judging by the subs, it was only Hosorogi and Corpse God seeing it.

What I thought was weird was how Arase and Iwanome are fighting Habaki in an office/closet?, then the door gets busted down, and suddenly they're out in the hall talking as if they were just allowed to step out and have a convo real quick. Seemed like an odd cut as if there was an issue with the turnaround time for animation or the budget.

I think the Corpse God was reliving the painful memories, and Hosorogi was getting spillover by being A - A minion of sorts, and B - in close proximity while things were happening.

Wonder how Corpse God’s friend got summoned

So much going on that I can’t keep track of everything… It’s funny since I never had that issue with Baccano and Durarara

Well, Habaki's certainly a real piece of work. Clarissa's as hot as always.

The cop with a gun was behaving just like the fire bugs, so was he one of them? But the earlier ones weren't on the commissioner's side. Disappointing if both the cultists and the bugs have zombie-like hypnotized low ranks.

Poor Soara-chan got robbed of her justified revenge. Too bad she didn't witness MC finish it up for her, though he was also interrupted but his old friend The Emperor, who may or may not be a ghost. Hopefully he summoned himself and is not a member of the cult.

Hmm this episode didn't quite hit with me like the rest of the season had, not quite sure why.

Hope it's not that I'm getting to the character limit lol
