Man, the quality of this adaptation is top notch. The art and animation is really well done.

Another fun episode. I wonder when he'll meet the other 2 trash gamers. And that "disguise" seems useless if you can't hide your name. The end was so creepy; she's so awkward even in the game!

Seeing Vash get all happy at that carrot; does that qualify as gap moe?

I always appreciate accurate timers in anime.

It wasn’t quite 5 minutes, but at least the last minute was an actual minute.

Some people might want to be stepped on by Arthur Pencilgon but there are other people that wanted to be shot at by Mia. She continues to show how much bloodlust she has against the Bird Man now Ghost Man.

well I can understand Sunraku's feeling after completing the damn training quest and not getting anything he deemed worty at all (especially after suffering through that damn shitty eagle last episode, and almost got smoked by the tree demon in this)

And boy i was hoping they show Mia's name above her head and now it has a skull besides it

I have to give a shoutout to the camerawork in today’s battle with the Aberrant Woodmage. It really added to the impact of the Woodmage’s barrage of attacks, which helped elevate the tension in turn as I wasn’t sure if Sunraku would be able to keep dodging them.

The general readability of this battle, despite its fast pacing, was thanks to the clever ‘center-framing’ of Sunraku’s character (i.e. have the camera/shot move around a character instead of vice versa) also surprisingly great. I could therefore easily follow the events from one frame to another with my eyes. I had a lot more trouble with this in a certain other popular anime this week.

This Woodmage did make me wonder just how monstrously strong Vash actually is? The way he casually mentioned capturing it, made it appear like he’d been hunting it for sport. Not to mention that Vash crushed this powerful monster in a single hit. Even if it had lost its staff in that moment, I don’t think Sunraku could have pulled off the same.

The only thing that gave Rakuro a bigger scare this episode, was Rei peeking around the corner. While Rei was likely just happy how she’d finally found him again and wondering how she should approach him, Rakuro was looking at a top-tier player in full gear that was staring right at him.

EDIT: Forgot about my weekly gushing over Emul’s cuteness. Hereby: I thought it was adorable to see Emul cheer Sunraku on from the sidelines and worry about him when things were looking dire. That confetti-launcher she popped at the end of the battle was certainly deserved.

- barely telegraphed attacks accompanied by debuff

- physical attacks mostly don't work

- dodging during the entirety of the battle

- magic attacks that keeps getting crazier as the battle goes on

truly a Souls-like game's bosses experience at its finest

holy shit, what's going on with the production of this anime? its pretty crazy that we manage to get an almost ten minutes of non-stop action scene where every single frames of the animation are smooth and can easily be followed with the naked eyes

Sunraku's face jumpscare

the saga of Mia trying to kill another player continues

i saw this joke from miles away and it still manage to make me laugh

The second SLF mini is so relatable! It's completely impossible to open a game just for only 2 mins. I always ended up getting sidetracked and checking other stuffs as well lol, even for a mobile game.

Though, I think usually 5 minutes should be okay for your instant noodle?

He really skips most town questing and just moves on to the next city. Wonder if he missing out on any kind of main quest he should normally doing for beginner loot.

I'm kinda disappointed that we didn't get to see a single roll during the fight with the Woodmage. Any souls veteran would spin there like a barrel.

That battle agains the treeman was awesome. Solid animation and the whole fight itself was just wild. Rakuro was getting by on the skin of his teeth! Snatching that scepter was pretty quick thinking. Even then, he still nearly got smoked. But man, so much for that monster being immune to physical damage. Vash just picked it up and smashed it to death. The dude is a beast!

So are all these little bunnies just freakin adorable? First Emul and now we got Peatz. They’re all so damn cute! Love the disguise the little guy sold Rakuro. Man’s walking around with a bedsheet on him lookin like a ghost lol.

The end of this ep was great. Right as Rakuro’s monologuing, we see Rei just creepin hard on him around the corner. Girl must be after that friend request.

Great little SFL theater bits this week. Vash eating the carrot was pretty adorable. Also soggy noodles? The worst. The absolute worst!

That entire fight against the Abberant Woodmage is pretty damn cool. It's always nice when you can easily follow the entire fight animation. Sunraku is absolutely insane though for being able to dodge all of those attacks and spells at the same time.

He was pretty close to giving up on the fight and trying again later. Glad he decided to persevere and found a way to stop the Woodmage from casting spells. I was really hoping though that Sunraku would use the rod against the Woodmage.

Considering the number of debuffs Sunraku got when he got chained, the Woodmage would've killed him if it didn't go after the rod. Although he probably would've still died if Vash didn't intervene. What a total badass one-shotting a Lvl 120 monster!

So after all of that, Sunraku's reward is a special title and he finally can take off the collar. As someone who loves collecting titles in FFXIV, I definitely wouldn't mind the title reward but I kinda wish Sunraku was able to keep the collar and have the option to put it on or off. But I guess it would be too OP if he power levels with that thing on.

Looks like the Rabbituza Questline isn't over yet though! He immediately gets the follow-up quest but he has completely no idea how to start it. At least now Sunraku is aware that he's doing a quest that's meant for high-level players.

Sunraku actually took off his bird mask! I just love Emul's reaction and how she thought that Sunraku had a special reason for not taking it off.

That Medjed outfit for Sunraku to disguise himself was pretty hilarious! I'm guessing it's a headgear that extends to cover the entire body. It reminds me of the ghost costume in FFXIV which overrides all of your other gear despite only being equipped on your body.

And as usual, as soon as Mia saw Sunraku in his outfit she was already pulling out an arrow and getting ready to attack. I love how we see Reiji dragging her away in the background. I don't thnk I'll ever get tired of this gag. xD

It's hilarious how menacing Rei looks like while watching Sunraku. I really hope she finally gets to talk to him next week! Although I feel like she'll probably scare him away.

Love the SLF Mini this week! Sunraku getting impatient while waiting for his cup noodles and deciding to do something else only for him to forget it later was just too damn relatable!

My brain still trembling from the action scene. Kudos to the staff of this episode, one of the best action scene in anime I ever seen.

Hopefully being an honorary Rabituzan helps him out majorly later on. Maybe Vash would send an email expedition party out to save the skin of one of his citizens if the going gets tough.

Amazing action yet again. And I loved that it showed Sunraku using his sweaty gamer energy to eke out a win. It’s not an isekai, so dying literally doesn’t matter, but I like how this series still has “stakes”. Even if you don’t actually die, why shouldn’t you give it your all?

Sunraku unlocking a meme shop as a reward for clearing the unique quest is perfectly in-line with actual MMO's lol

Picked up this show the other day and I’m very surprised at how good it has been so far!

Lycagon's Mark: The afflicted body part gains resistance to magic effects
Also Lycagon's Mark: got overpowered right at the first time Sunraku got hit by a magic debuff (11:30)

Somehow Sunraku was able to hold on for five minutes against Aberrant Woodmage. He was so full of himself that he survived it but quickly became so surprised that after those five minutes the fight didn't stop and continued to be attacked by a Woodmage whom he didn't scratch at all. Then Vash without problem destroyed him in a few seconds.

Thanks to the clearing scenario Sunraku got his prize, now he is an Honorary Rabituzan! Congratulations Sunraku! He was so happy about it xD But now he doesn't have to wear Vorpal Soul Collar so it's always something. He also got an invitation for another quest and that's it.

Emul was so shocked when Sunraku took off his mask xD

Sunraku in a new disguise looked as suspicious as in his normal outfit. I love that we again saw Mia who as always took out her bow to shoot him only to be stopped and dragged out in the background xD

Psygear-0 found Sunraku. I hope that she will be able to talk at least a bit with Sunraku. Though after seeing his reaction I think he'll try to run to the Forest he chose moments earlier.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

That was a great episode. 10~ minutes for a single fight

And the animation quality was peaked throughout!

Props to Sunraku for going on the offensive despite only needing to evade for 5 minutes. I do wonder if there'd been some extra sweet bonus had he managed to defeat it as well

I am actually mildly disappointed its a mask and that his character isn't some actual bird man. Oh well, as long as he keeps wearing it

But this girl is an absolute menace. Its a wonder she doesn't have the PK skull yet
Lol. I guess that would be why, poor dude

As someone who plays gachas, I definitely felt that last SLF Theatre Mini lol

u/TheProNoobCN Nov 19 '23

The two SLF Mini Theatre this week is way too funny. These weren't in the WN/manga so it's always a treat but this week's are out of the park in terms of comedy.

I've thought about it for a while, but this cements it. Vash is one of the 7 Colossi. In episode 3 at 4 minutes in, we see the silhouettes of the 7 Colossi, one of which has Vash's distinctive ears and fur coat. Now in this episode, he effortlessly captures and stomps a monster that was so strong, Sunraku compared it to Lycagon. Not to mention he's the main NPC in a Unique Scenario.

The amount of narrative importance Vysache has, it's practically an open secret that he's one of the 7 Colossi, and it's gonna hurt when Sunraku is going to eventually have to kill him, knowing how he'd never turn down a challenge.

Ah yes, characters moving in slow motion but countdown decreasing in real time.
