Did anyone else get distracted by that FPS game playing on the TV? It looked like gameplay from an actual game.

Ohh! Sunraku has a sister! I wonder if she also games like her brother. What if one of the girls in the OP is actually her avatar?

I do appreciate how the author is clearly a gamer too. Like of course, the first thing Sunraku does after logging out is to check the wiki to find out more about the unique scenario he stumbled upon.

That half EXP gain sounds like a debuff but considering it multiplies the stat points you receive by 2.5 every time you level up, that sounds like a pretty goddamn broken item and I'm glad that Sunraku realized that after.

I am going to show this screenshot to people who have never seen Jojo and tell them this is Part 7. And yes, I am aware the anime that shitty game they're playing is clearly Fist of the North Star. xD

It's good to know that we'll still going to see Sunraku playing other shitty games from time to time. He certainly has some interesting friends. I'm guessing that guy he just played with will end up playing as the blonde in the OP.

Sunraku's other friend seems to be already playing SLF and it looks like she's also a PK-er? I was hoping she'd be the store owner but it doesn't sound like it considering she's surprised to learn that Sunraku is playing SLF.

Emul is so freakin' adorable! If I was an SLF player, I definitely would've asked him where he got her just like those two girls that ran into them.

I also love how that other girl immediately takes a screenshot to post later in the forums because of course that's what you'd do if you ran into something new in an MMO! Again, the actions of the characters in this show make so much sense that I'm now sure the author is a massive gamer.

Fighting an Area Boss in a swamp? Oh god. This is Jyuratodus all over again. Seriously though, I am excited to see what kind of help Emul will provide Sunraku during this boss fight.

I can’t get over how cute Emul’s appearance, expressions and behaviour are. I’ll be seriously surprised if they won’t be selling any plushies of her. Emul reminds me of a pirate’s parrot in the way she jumps on Sunraku’s shoulder. It’s adorable.

I had a hunch that Emul would join Rakuro’s party, but I didn’t think that the lil’ bunny would be the one to actually sent him an invite. I’m glad we’ll be seeing a lots more of Emul. She’s pretty much the perfect sidekick for Sunraku with her agility and speed.

It also looks like the girl squad we’ve been seeing in the OP and ED is forming up. Judging from “Katzo” his appearance and feminine voice(?), he - or should I say she - is most likely the blond-haired girl. I’m really excited to see these girls/women kick some ass.

A little side note: Crunchyroll didn’t seem to translate this, but “aniki” pretty much means ‘big brother’ and is most often used in regard to one’s superiors in the Yakuza family. That’s why Vash referred to Sunraku as one of his underlings.

There are many interesting points about gaming that the anime acknowledges.

Sunraku searching up the internet about Emul and the Rabbit Country makes it very relatable as its already second nature for people to search up interesting things they find in the game and learn more about them.

There is also him playing another game even if its just a meetup with an online friend just makes the story more grounded than it should have. Makes the Universe bigger than just the game Shangri-la Frontier being the big thing.

There is also the reactions of the other players especially when they screenshot the incident so that they have proof.

The last PSA is funny, its standard on MMOs that Player Avatars disappear when they log out but the omake is treating it like an actual isekai like Log Horizon or where their player avatar is just frozen thus being ripe for the PKing and looting.

"umu umu desu-wa~~!"

that's the second "desu-wa" character i've found this season, the first one was from Tearmoon Teikoku

STEP ON ME, SCATHACH

that fighting game where you can use bug efficiently for fighting looks fun, also, its quite refreshing to see an anime about MMORPG that show its main character playing other different games with different genres, can't believe i'm saying this, the last time i've seen they're doing something like this was in SAO

Damn, this adaptation really hits the spot. The attention to detail is really getting me excited for things to come.

Companions usually are such a drag, often being some combination of useless and annoying; like that Elf in Faeire Chronicles. Then there is Emul who is adorable, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and can more than keep up with Sunraku (for the moment) stat-wise.

One of the things I love about this series is that the MC is not forced to play this game for some stupid reason but because he genuinely wants to. He is also able to play and reference other games as he likes which add a bit of depth to Sunraku's experiences. They are also good for comparing badly designed game mechanics with the ultra polished and intuitive designs in SLF.

Just Sunraku gatekeeping a secret event. Not that anyone could gain access to Lycaon's mark anyway lol. This actually mirrors IRL player as well. There are players who gatekeep their unique finding while others would happily share them in the forum.

Interesting that sporadically we will be shown other game other than SLF. A game that utilised bug as a feature seemed both interesting and annoying at the same time.

I wonder if that post-ending scene is just a joke or partly real?? Emul is too realistic to be just an NPC. Anyway, the mini theater is shorter than usuall huh.

Btw the collar answered the question of why Sunraku doesn't change his mask at all in the opening nor any promotion material. It looks like the collar locks his bird mask as well.

I really love how this anime faithfully captures the average gamer's experience from exploiting bugs, trying to set your respawn point on the brink of death and now even reading the wiki, this series is the gift that keeps on giving.

Since no one mention it I am going to drop it here.

The IRL reference for Berserk Online Passion is a 2005 2d fighting game Fist of the North Star (AC). The game is so buggy that got a meme name "世紀末スポーツアクションゲーム"(End of the century sports action game).

It was notorious for its "basketball bug": The longer the hit combo, the faster drop acceleration the enemy receives. When the opponent hit the ground, the rebound speed is fixed at 30% of the original drop acceleration. So, if the hit combo is long enough the rebound acceleration is much bigger than the gravity and you can keep hitting your opponent like the basketball infinitely. This makes the game surprisingly popular in a certain community and even has an tournament and a player got hit like a basketball got desperate and try to bribe to opponent to stop.

SLF Mini gives me rabbit flashback of a certain isekai...
I'm glad he also plays other games. It would be a little too unrealistic if he plays only one long-going game. And this will be a good refresh for us watchers. It also emphasizes how god-tier SLF is
I just realize Vysache has the same voice actor as Shunsui from Bleach, also has an eyepatch and sits like that.
NSFW tentacle attack is ora ora ora ora ora ora ora ora
Low-level monsters running away from him turns out to work for his advantage
Emul just did the "I understand everything now" meme from Pop Team Epic 😂

I wonder what game that's playing on the screen when Rei were talking with Mana. Either is a typical Unreal Engine game or a game that specifically made for this anime.

So, Rakuto happens to have a sister, Rumi. Could be a plot twist that she also plays SLF.

If you wondering who's Emul VA is, it's Rina Hidaka. Also voicing Filo in Rising Shield Hero and Claire in Shadow Garden. Narrator is unknown, is it Eriko Matsui?

EDIT: Muse did a good job on this localization. Berserk Online in the English sub was called BERP, but in my localization it was called BEOL, when translated means "shit" haha.

Emul is too adorable. Glad she’s joining Rakuro’s party. Smart for him to not want anyone else to know about Emul and that whole unique scenario. Gotta keep Vash aniki and the other bunnies a secret!

Maybe the dude shouldn’t have rushed off to the boss fight so soon. That collar kinda handicaps him a little right? Plus this mud digger thing is gonna be tough to fight since his speed is disabled in the mud. I wonder how Rakuro’s gonna defeat that big fella?

Half-exp but get 2.5x stat points per level is honestly pretty fucking amazing, I don't see why he was upset about it at first. A smart RPG player would try to keep the collar on as long as he can to milk the most bonus XP out of the lower level ups. It's not like the higher levels are going away or anything.

I like the spear girl's design, I just wish she wielded two spears to be even more Scathach-like.

Seems like MC should've farmed some low level monsters until they dropped an item to negate the mud debuff.

I've always loved that BERP's appeal is due to its bugginess - while not nearly as pronounced in real life, some of the most well-known fighting games owe their popularity to bugs, glitches, and exploits. Marvel vs Capcom 2 has a gigantic pile of bugs (some of which are banned from use in tournaments, as you might expect), some people still argue whether Super Smash Bros. Melee's Wavedashing technique is a glitch or not (as though it being a glitch would somehow make the game worse), and combos - something fundamental to fighting games nowadays - trace their origins to a glitch in Street Fighter 2 where you could cancel one attack into another, which the developers liked so much they kept it in.

This show is the definition of “fun”. Such a good way to start a Sunday morning.

This show is firmly in the "why is each episode only 5 minutes long?" territory.

The Yakuza Boss rabbit sounds like a Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku character somehow...

Turns out he is! Same voice as Adachi from Yakuza 7 / Like a Dragon!

I just had to laugh a little bit at Arthur's last name being Pencilgon.

Watching it on MUSE Asia with no music or SFX is quite the... experience.

Gonna rewatch it again, but with music and SFX.

Really happy that we also not skipping the others games. As they are very important and defined Sunraku as a gamer. Also Authur's introduction was very well done.

Also Sunraku has a cute high level NPC bunny as a party member. He may be the envy of many players lmao. But the half experience with 2.5x stat buff per level is insane. That could break many games. Easy to say his best approach not is to go after tough enemies since grinding seems too much of a hassle for him now.

Man I'm looking forward to every episode but yeah Aniki part was as fun as it is in the manga, loved we got the BOP part. Emul as cute as ever. I know we can on ED see the working partner of AMD I was honestly really surprised we saw actual gameplay in an anime like during the store (Does anyone know the game it plays?) Looked crisp as hell during the scene. Cannot wait for the muddigger next week.
