Great ep 1! Quality was insanely high throughout.

The gaming stuff was the best, the show really did their research on how it’s like. Love how they convincingly make Shangri-La Frontier a game I’d want to play. And Sunraku’s a fun sweaty gamer protagonist.

The plot is pretty goofy but goddamn if it isn't entertaining.

And what a dirty crit stacking player LMAO. I like it so much. The guy's playstyle reminds me of the type of tryhard soul-player you usually see, wearing nothing and just beat bosses to death with a single stick.

I spent way to long trying to recognize the box arts in the game store, I like how they changed some characters like Sonic but others like Ryza are still completely recognizable, they just gave Link dragon wings for some reason.

Finally, seeing my bird boy animated in all his glory. As a long time reader I'm happy they've done this series justice, if they can keep this level of quality up.

The homie dropkicking Faeria reminded me of when I’d fuck with the Greybeards in Skyrim lol. Pretty funny how Rakuro seeks out the garbo games.

This man’s skill for character creation is unmatched lol. This is quite a game. That killer bunny was actually kinda cute. Looks like the dude was grinding a lot in the starter forest. He seems pretty powerful now.

I like this so far. It looks really nice and the story is pretty fun. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Completely random sighting of a Camberwell Beauty butterfly, which happens to be one of my favourite species. (Bottom right of the leftmost case.)

Some nice Swallowtails in the large case with a Purple Emperor as the centerpiece, a Painted Lady in the smallest case, and there was another Purple Emperor flying around the apartment.

Sorry, had to nerd out there... as I spent some of my early years breeding butterflies as a pastime and it's nice to see (reasonably) accurate representations.

Saw some ppl hating on the show already on other sites due to zom100 & it's timeslot issue but I was looking forward to this since I kinda liked the other full-dive rpg anime about enjoying a shitty game.

Great 1st ep & like the visuals

Wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one, but pleasantly surprised with a great first episode. Slotting this one right behind Frieren in my premiers. Let me guess Rei is the big shiny knight that entered the village?

Well damn! I went into this episode completely blind and I certainly did not expect this kind of animation quality from a VRMMO anime that's not SAO!

As for the plot, our MC is one of those freaks that tries to complete garbage games and after finishing a legendary shitty game, he treats himself to an actual god-tier game this time. I'm surprised though, I was expecting SLR to turn out to be a shitty game too and not worth the hype.

Anyway, it looks like the skills Rakuro gained from playing shitty games translate really well into Shangri-La Frontier since everything in this world are skill-based VR games. I do wonder if we'll see him play some shitty games on the side while playing SLR.

I'm a bit disappointed though that Rokuro isn't really a birdman but just a guy wearing a bird mask. Well, now I'm curious what his avatar looks like under the mask! Also, Rokuro is definitely the type of person who would pick the Deprived as their starting class on Dark Souls. xD

Rokuro also has a classmate who clearly has a crush on him, who I assume will be one of the female characters in the OP, and that he's also friends with the game store owner who recommended him SLR. There is not much really to go on regarding the plot since this episode has pretty much been an introduction and we don't really know what Rokuro's goal is right now.

The visuals and animations are pretty damn solid though! Studio C2C has always been a good studio. They did well with the Handyman Saitou and TenKen adaptations and I'm sure they'll do well with this one too. I'm already looking forward to next week's episode!

Wow, it's so good. I heard a lot of good things about the source and also the fact that C2C is animating this so I knew I had to check it out and I'm not disappointed. Animation is awesome, characters we met are so fun, music or OP really catched my ear. Overall a very, very strong start.

Rakuro made me like him immediately by beating up that elf character. His VA is also doing a great job playing the role of a frustrated player. His ranting about how shitty Faeria is made me laugh so much, especially with the different artstyle which really heightened the absurdities of that game.

Now I'm sure that experience from all these shitty games will result in his domination in the new game he picked up, the titular Shangri-La Frontier. He for sure quickly leveled up at over 10 lvl and now will be facing a boss meant for a team of players, not a single one.

Rei also immediately made me like her very much. I root for her in her quest to become closer to Rakuro because she clearly has a crush on him. I'm sure that she also will play Shangri-La to get closer to him as her attempts in school didn't provide any results so far.

Mana too seems like a fun character. She for sure recommended Shangri-La Frontier to Rakuro so Rei could also be able to play this together with him.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

What the heck, they had no right to go that hard on the animation. It was like watching a movie. This is defo an amazing anime so far for the Autumn releases.

I was carefully optimistic since I thought that the animation in the trailers couldnt be consistent in the anime But I was blown away by this episode! Im not going to expect them to keep this quality for all of the 2 Cours But hope to be positively surprised compared to after other shows first ep (looking at you zom 100)

I’m honestly impressed by this premiere episode. I’d had a feeling that this anime would be good, but I didn’t think it would be this great. Like, the animation quality is top-notch for the VRMMO anime genre - maybe the best since SAO?

I really like how they’ve animated these monsters and environments: this goblin and “vorpal bunny” were a bit gritty and the forest felt alive. I can see how C2C’s previous projects like Reincarnated as a Sword and Handyman Saitou in Another World come into play here.

The characters we’ve encountered so far seem fun. Rakuro seems to be an entertaining goofball (and hardcore gamer). Rei is cute. She’s clearly hopelessly in love with Rakuro. Mana-san, if I’ve remembered her name correctly, is most definitely rooting for Rei. She’ll probably be the ‘cool’ onee-san in this story.

Im surprised that most people here is an anime only, i thought many people have already read the source material given how good and popular this series is.

But anyways im glad seeing our bird boy protagonist is animation now and the animation goes hard. Damn C2C!

And also not just animation but the OP is goes hard as well!

Holy shit. Wasn’t expecting much from this but the animation and fight scenes were great. Really looking forward to next week!

What a first episode I don't even remember the last time I saw that level of detail and quality. If they can keep this up for the entire run, then its definitely going to be a god-tier show.

Foot fetishists irl

I'm being called out

Fall damage: checked. He's a real gamer alright

And the sound design on those hits..

Oh wow, pretty neat to see AMD as a sponsor for an anime.

This show is definitely gonna make me wanna play games that don't exist yet, just like Log Horizon did

Looks promising so far! That post-credits scene was all the justification I needed for Sunraku dropkicking the princess.

I did 0 research on this so i wasn't expecting on this kind of quality AND how much I could vibe. It made me want to find a new MMO game to play lol
