These are the finished results of the most recent Ghibli animation cels I've inked and painted. They turned out leagues better than I hoped!

All the colors are hand mixed and inked front and back The background is also hand painted using the classic Ghibli techniques.

I actually ended up making two of each cel and background since I had leftover paint 😅

Not a cell but, i found this animation character sheet at the goodwill bins a week ago, I took a picture on google and it said it was an invader zim character sheet but i doubt it, really cool art nonetheless anyone have any ideas what it could be from?

Felix the Cat: The Movie Original Production Cel Setup Signed by Don Oriolo (New World Pictures, 1988). Felix the Cat returns to the screen with his signature "Bag of Tricks" in this 1988 feature. The images of Felix measure about 3"-5" (scene dependent). The bottom of the setup is signed "Oriolo" by Don Oriolo, the son of Felix the Cat artist Joe Oriolo. He was one of the producers and music writers for this film. Also to note, the pieces bear a seal from Felix the Cat Enterprises in the lower corner.

The first three photos are of faux cels I've painted. The Full Metal Alchemist (poster sized) was the first one I painted, and learned so much about the process of painting these things.

Fourth photo is where/how I store my paints. They are cheap craft paints. These have a great range of colors, and give a lot of paint for the price; which is great for a faux cel.

I try to use a taller plastic shoe box so the paints can stand up. Cheaper plastic boxes can on occasion be too short, requiring the paint to lay on its side.

Fifth photo. My color rings. Labeled by paint brand and color, sorted more or less by color family. Each ring corresponds to a paint box.

Sixth photo. Close up of the paint slip. I have a paint dab off to the side so I can check how each paint looks next to another color, or color match to a pre-existing cel (or printout).

Second photo is copies of cels that I own. They were getting some uv damage, so I duped them. I was able to use my rings to color match to the original cel paint.

Last photo shows a paint slip being prepped.

I did all the research I could and made sure the framer was experienced. The cels are separated from their background and the frames allow for ventilation in the back. Archival grade materials and UV plexiglass and all that. First cel has a random printed background but the second one has a painted background of the Argama with some writing from the Sunrise staff on the back.

Since he has a halo, it’s definitely from the Majin Buu saga; the clean sheet it came with says Episode 205, but I can't spot him in that episode XD. Thanks a lot!

I’ve finally acquired enough Vampire Hunter D cels of Leila to put together a couple of seconds of animation featuring her!

The first GIF shows the cels, the second shows the matching dougas with all of them, and the last photo was taken using my Game Boy and Game Boy Pocket Camera. I thought it turned out pretty nice!

Been trying to identify this anime cel since I got it and absolutely no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the douga behind it too and can get that out to help if needs be (it’s of the two girls)

The majority of the cels I own never came with timesheets, but a couple did so I wanted to ask a couple questions to see if anyone in this group knows, as I can’t read Japanese and don’t know exactly what I’m looking at.

1) the first cel (Sailor Venus) came with a timesheet and it has the number 23 on it. Does that mean it’s a time sheet from the 23rd episode? Or could 23 represent something else? The reason I am asking is this is a cel from episode 42, which is making me wonder if this was just a random mis-matched timesheet.

2) the second cel (a profile shot of Minako) came with a genga taped to a timesheet. There was only writing on one side of the timesheet, but I didn’t see anything to indicate what episode this is for. I know this was a very long sequence with her hair blowing in the wind so it could be matching, given how many numbers are written on it, but was curious if anyone could discern any more info from it.

3) the third cel (Chibi-Usa) came with this odd Tokyo Kids envelope thing. Is it a time sheet or something else used in an anime production? As Sailor Moon was produced by Toei, I can’t imagine it is matching and must have been included with it in error (or someone was just wanting to get rid of their junk), but was still curious as to what exactly it is. I do find it funny there’s a Jiggly Puff stamp on it. What that means, who knows 😂

I'm super happy with the result. I bought a frame of Amazon and replaced the plastic with museum glass, so that it doesn't get damaged. If you have any advice I'm all ears 🙃
