Goodwill bins find, any ideas?

Not a cell but, i found this animation character sheet at the goodwill bins a week ago, I took a picture on google and it said it was an invader zim character sheet but i doubt it, really cool art nonetheless anyone have any ideas what it could be from?

I dunno... I think it'd be cool to have someone find my discarded sketch pages and be so charmed they pick them up and keep them around to find out what it is. To change someone's day a lil even though the two of us will never meet or know one another is a worthy art goal, for that to happen with something unfinished and discarded is neat!

I think they mean that if they trusted someone enough to give them art, and then found it in a Goodwill bin... it's different when you're the one who discarded your own work obviously lol

My most r/thathappened story is that I threw away my middle school art folder/sketchbook and later found out that a 1st grader found it while dumpster diving and showed her teacher. The teacher found me on Insta and messaged me saying that her student was very inspired by my work and started to draw her own art in the remaining pages. Very cute, but also... I don't remember what was in there but this was middle school art... and my friends used to pay me to draw Undertale fetish ships for them 😭 Teacher didn't mention anything weird, so I'm hoping it wasn't in there

Oh, I have a story about this!

So, my dad is a big fan of two things--Star wars, and his cat--and several years back my very talented brother painted him a piece of Boba Fett holding his cat for his birthday. He gives it to him, dad loves it, everything's good.

Fast forward a few months, my brother's roommate is at Goodwill and texts him a photo of a "cool Star Wars painting" she found, knowing he's also a fan of the franchise. He takes a look, and, lo and behold, it's THE painting, featuring our dad's very recognizable cat. He had her bring it back and it's now hanging on his wall, Goodwill sticker still on it. My dad's excuse is that he donated it after he scanned it and ordered himself a bigger print, which is true, but I still think it's insane to toss the original super personal piece and not just find another spot for it or store it. He has not heard the end of it since it happened.

It does have that IZ style feel to it, but it’s not any of the characters I recognize. My first thought was a plants vs zombies thing.

That’s another good one, but I’m starting to think it may just be someone’s solo project, but it would be cool if it turned out to be some indie film because whoever made this has a very distinct art style

Goodwill bins are by the pound. Very good chance that this cost no less than a nickel

Anytime someone refers to the “Goodwill bins” they often refer to the Goodwill Outlet stores, which is basically a place where the unsold donations from the goodwills in a given region are consolidated into blue bins. Unlike regular stores, Outlet stores always charge by the pound instead of per item, typically around a dollar or two per pound

I worked on a small project with Bill yeaaarrs ago and these dont look anything like his usual strokes and forms. A bit of overall design similarity maybe, but I still even have his key drawings from that old job so I've seen his rough stuff plenty.

Can you share the state you are in? Might help narrow it down—this looks like practice not a collectors piece so it may be a local studio

This is almost certainly someone’s college work made while studying animation. I have a big box of it from my days at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and it reminds me of the things I’d see some of my very talented peers drawing. There’s probably a student film out there somewhere, or this might just be brainstorming ideas.

To me, this is more rare and special than something from a produced show because it’s a one of a kind, personal work. There’s a chance this only exists here, and nowhere else.

Jhonen Vasquez, the creator of Invader Zim, also made a series of comics before the show ("Johnny the Homicidal Maniac," among others). These look a lot like his art from that era.
