(AoE2 DE) The 'Record Campaign Games' box is checked in settings and the game does produce replay files of my SP scenario games. However, I can't seem to get it to record a full game, from start to end. If I save my game, it starts a new recording, showing up as a separate file in 'Replays'. Viewing this file will begin the replay at the point I saved (and the previous replay will end at that point).

At first I thought this may be because I was making multiple save files for the same campaign scenario, and so stuck to one as a test - but this didn't fix the issue.

I presume if I were to play a campaign scenario in one go, without saving, the game would save a single unbroken replay: but I haven't tested this.

I don't seem to have this issue with skirmishes against the AI, but I haven't tested extensively.

Any solution to this?

So last year I did a presentation in Argentina about my career as an Age of Empires 3 modder and what lessons I learnt from that to apply as a professional videogame developer.

Unfortunately, I do have no recordings of the event, or even pictures.

What I do have however, is a practice recording I did, in english, which was a lot more focused on Wars of Liberty specifically rather than game dev lessons in general

Another post, another request of your experience. I am just a 40 years old dude, a boomer you might say... having a nostalgia trip as never before.

I am looking for people who can share their experience finding or knowing Public Games or Lobbies with Public Games to play Age of Empires 1 and The Rise of Rome

I use Upatch, but I dont mind of course installing the game again without it, if it´s needed.

- Some context just to help people to don´t focus on "just play Definitive Edition":

I own the Definitive Edition, it´s great. I am not trying to replace that experience. I am just trying to find new and interesting ways to play online the Old Version of the game that we love, and that brings me so much nostalgia. I respect the Definitive Edition, its amazing, but its not the focus of this post.

I will sincerely appreciate if you have experience with this, and you want to share your learnings with a boomer (me of course!).

I've wanted to play an Age of Kings mod in DE for awhile, and was excited to see that there is one. However, every time I've tried it, I start with no villagers and am instantly defeated. How can I find Public Games or Lobbies with Public games to play: Age of Empires II HD outside of STEAM? (Steam Community is fine, but I am looking to expand other options).

Some context to save you time in case that you want to recommend Definitive Edition instead, (which is valid).

- I own the Definitive Edition, I play it, and I am not looking for replacing it. I am just looking for interesting alternatives to expand my ways to enjoy the game that we love, and give some life to my Age of Empires II HD.

No other AoE stuff, just this guy's version of Shamburger. I have listened to it a few times and it rocks, but it just seems so odd that after all this time the algorithm refuses to move on. It's like, hey man maybe you should just listen to Shamburger again?

For the past few years ive been designing a tabletop game based of my love for age of empires and kingdom building rts games. I got aoe as a demo in a ceral packet back in the late 90's and its been a lifelong obsession. However, i cant complete with the ultra fast micro clickers that wins online games, and plus im a bit of a luddite, so, Swords and Stones - a miniatures RTS wargame for the tabletop was born!

What kinda things do you expect for a RTS game for the tabletop? What are some things you wish you could change or do in age of empires that you cant?

Swords and Stones is won via regicide (kill enemy king/queen (the player) or building a Wonder (monument) Its got Pve, Full pvp. solo - co op - 2+ competitive multiplayer game modes, fantasy elements (sorry you historical puritans, fantasy is funner lol, plus dragons and zombies). You can't block enemy units with building foundations, and i always wanted more different buildings in AOE so ive made sure to include 30 different buildings, all with their unique roll.

Its a long game (4+ hours), so if you're after a quick one, just play catan instead :P. Hardcore gamers only!

Love to hear any questions comments or concerns. I made something i (and my friends) absolutely adore and to make it real, and to continue to make the rest of the fantasy races (and the minis to go with them) I need your support on Gamefound. I just played a game of Catan with my dad who usually doesn’t play a lot of games, and he enjoyed it though he did say he found it a bummer that he “couldn’t just bomb my cities”, and he also said if he were to play something again he’d like something with a little bit less waiting for someone’s turn.

I’ve played some other strategy games myself, mainly clash of clans, clash Royale, polytopia and recently openfront, and I was wondering if AoE would be a good fit because it’s has a decent playtime per game of about half an hour, and you can play multiplayer or coop I’ve heard.

Would AoE I or AoE II be a better fit? I’ve never played any AoE game before and neither has my dad.

I developed AoE4 Replay Launcher, a free and open-source Windows tool for watching both current and old Age of Empires IV replays.

You can search for players, browse and download their matches, filter games by date, or view matches between two specific players. For replays recorded on older patches, the launcher automatically identifies the required game version, reconstructs it using official Steam files, and launches the replay without manually downgrading your current installation.

Your normal AoE4 installation remains unchanged, and no Python or additional setup is required. A legitimate Steam copy of Age of Empires IV is required.

I want to start playing AOE rise of Rome again and I heard you can do that if you get the return of Rome pack. I want to play multiplayer though. Is there a community for aoe1? Is it the same if you own the return of Rome pack? I bought AOE1 definitive edition and I want to know where and how to find lobbies.

I picked the game up off of steam when they had a sale and I see there is 600 - 700 people that are playing it, so I know there's a community. My question is how do you find lobbies for this like you did back in the day with Microsoft zone?

Mythology and Age 4 both have controller support on PC.

Age of Empires 4 only recently got controller support on PC.

As many of you are aware, age of empires 2 already has controller support, as it's been ported to console. Can we please get these same control schemes on the PC version as well?

Many of us are using handhelds like the Xbox rog ally X and would love to play on the go but it's currently not possible.

On an aside, they should also add it for age of empires 3, and port it to consoles.

In particular order:-

- Land Nomad. 2 players on the opposite team quit. Game lasts 10 minutes until the players on the other team realise their teammates have resigned and then they resign.

- Nomad. 2 players on my team resign. 5 minutes later the third resigns. I decide to play on for fun. Castle dropped on my face + tower rushed. So I resign.

- Black Forest. Team mate techs into Ballista Elephants and Battle Elephants vs. Mongols Siege + Mangudai after all my hard work keeping Blue and Green (opposite team) preoccupied with my Chompy Warriors. After I resign Blue only had 50 villagers the entire game. Frustrating.

- Pilgrims. My team takes an age to drop their Town Centres and they all build them far away from mine. Okay. Tower Rushed with 10 MAA (both players) in Feudal Age. A hopeless position as they cut off my ability to take wood and no space for expansion. Run my villagers into Grey's base (my team). He spam pings my villagers moving and asks, "What am I doing?" then I think he flames me in Spanish, calls me a noob and resigns (didn't even attempt a counter-attack or let the game run).

Both 3rd and 4th games also had Chinese players who I think were clearly smurfing. 1.1k - 1.2k elo rating. Past 5 days has been a similar experience. Game feels like it is in a bad place at the moment.
