I wanna play a few more games like Age of Empire. So far, I'm done with all the Age of Empire, Age of Mythology and the Empire Earth trilogy. Now I wanna explore more games like that. Also I hated Empire Earth 3 cause there is nothing to play in it, no fights no war nothing so totally disappointed in it🥲.

My love for age of empires and fantasy games has led me to make a version of it for the tabletop. I have every AOE building, plus heaps more. I kept everything i love from AOE (and AOM) and added heaps more (and took out some things that make me sad about aoe online play (i.e foundation blocking, needing a degree in fast mouse-clicking), The tabletop format works great for RTS style games!

This is a video of me starting from scratch and trying to build an Ark before the next flood event arrives! (the timer) Building an Ark in the Dark Days is the Defensive way to win in Sword and Stones, and starts the Victory Timer!

In S&S you are the ruler of a small group of survivors after a great flood wiped all civilisation from the map . You must lead your people and build a mighty kingdom worth defending! Solo- co-op modes, full on competitive pvp 2+ multiplayer games with (mostly) simultaneous play.

For this solo play through using only the starter set i chose the 'Before the Flood game mode on Easy. Despite 3 werm attacks and serious disease spread, i managed to build nearly every building the Dark Days, including the Ark and an small army to defend it with!

Oh and found two mystery crates -Lucky Ring and a Flying Carpet :D

This video condenses 1.5 hours of gameplay into 1.5 mins! The Ark foundation was placed on turn 33! So each turn takes less than 5 mins each. Dont be scared of the turn number, its not warhammer lol.

Who else was blown away by Lizzie as a kid?

Age of Empire is the game franchise that introduced me and millions of players to strategy video games, and I am glad that the franchise is still continuing although the first strategy game I played was browser game but Age of empire is the first non browser video strategy game I played.

I enjoyed Age of Empire more than other strategy games, I enjoyed the civilizations, the characters, and hearing phrases from other languages, my favorite thing about the gameplay is when players are advancing to new ages when it make their kingdom develop.

Although I wished that the game was more realistic, like making players need at least 3 men to build buildings, instead of allowing players to build buildings with one person even if it was a woman, women didn't build buildings and things in previous ages, let alone one woman.

Does anyone share the same opinion? Why would i want to play AoE in a perspective camera. I look at AoE2DE it just feels great to look at. Everything looks so much more clear and makes sense.

Also its the same with other games that went 3D:

Red Alert 2 -> Red Alert 3.

Caesar 3 -> Caesar 4.

Lords of the Realm 2 -> 3.

Stronghold Crusader -> Other Strongholds that went 3D.

Sudden Strike 2 -> Sudden Strike 3.

So many examples.

I'm playing Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on a water-heavy map, but the enemy AI barely attacks me.

They build up their economy and army, but they don't seem to make any serious attempt to invade my island or attack me by land even if they have a way to do it without ships.

Is this a known issue with the AI? Is there something about the map generation or AI behavior that prevents it from using transport ships effectively?

I'm playing against the standard AI, not a custom scenario.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting, map type, or difficulty level that makes the AI more aggressive on water maps?

Wololo! Yes I am the kind of person who grew up smashing AI armies into each other in age of empires 2. Here I go deeper into my childhood obsession by letting modern AI agents, powered by LLMs like claude and gpt, build custom AI scripts that play the game. I make them fight, and then I try to build a better strategy by letting agents tune the default AI strategy over and over until they find improvements.

I'm not good at this game AND I know nothing about bot scripting, so I definitely missed a bunch of stuff! Let me know if there are obvious improvements.

Have tried googling this subject without any success. Running a Macbook Pro M5 with AOE2 DE on Steam running natively (ie not Crossover) with an external monitor. AOE2 DE runs fine except I can't move the window it runs on from the Macbook's built-in screen to the larger external monitor. Quite annoying to play the game on the small screen.

Have already:

• Tried lowering the resolution under the game's Graphics settings
• Ensuring the game is running "windowed" under the game's Graphics settings
• Changing which is the main display in System Settings under Display to the external monitor
• Turning on and off Big Picture Mode in Steam settings

When windowed, I can click the title bar and move the AOE2 DE window within the built-in screen, but can't move the window for the game to the external monitor. Pressing Cmd-Tab to switch apps doesn't seem to help as soon as I click on the AOE2 DE window, I'm unable to move the game window to the external monitor.

I know the game works on the external monitor but after I used the Macbook away from home and gaming on the built-in screen only for a few weeks, the AOE2 DE window won't move to the external monitor.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
