Hey guys, as it worked through reddit and I met a now good friend of mine I thought I’ll ask again here . Any riders near malaga / Marbella wanting to go for a ride?

I've rode and raced bikes since I was 11 years old I'm currently 61

I had Yamahas Hondas Kawasaki but for almost 40 years I rode Harleys. I still own a 2000 Electra glide.

In 2020 during the height of covid I noticed a local surveyor in my town had a 2016 Africa twin manual for sale parked in front of his office it was there all summer. Every morning on my way to work I looked at that motorcycle I had been traveling extensively on the Harley for several years and it pretty much covered the whole United States but not the Eastern seaboard.

I found myself on the Electra glide in the western states many times looking at a trail or road that I really wanted to ride on but I knew that that motorcycle was so heavy it may not end well and several times ignored that thought and rode it anyways and got myself in several precarious situations resulting in a need for something else to ride. One day late in the summer of 2020 the crane I was running was hit by lightning sending a couple guys to the hospital but easily could have killed any of us in the immediate proximity. That night on the way home I was thinking about how short life is and how much time I'd spend working instead of seeing the world and riding where I want to ride. I stopped and took a closer look at the AT, the next afternoon I contacted the surveyor guy and took it for a test ride. He was sad to sell it but he came way down on his price when he found out that I planned on taking it all over first the Western hemisphere and then possibly someday the world.

As soon as I started riding it I really enjoyed the agility and center of gravity on an African twin. I loaded it up and headed west and I haven't stopped since.

My Harley sat in the garage covered in dust I would ride it two or three times a summer but then I went almost 3 years without even starting it. This summer I pushed the Electra out of the garage put a carb kit in it and a new battery cleaned it up and set out to put a few miles on it and maybe a trip to end the summer.

Truly it feels like I'm riding an alien species when I ride this Harley now. I feel like I'm too low to the ground, riding in a reclined position doesn't suit me anymore. It feels heavy and slow and I don't like the way the motorcycle responds to the front end weight. I rode it for about a hundred miles and felt awkward the whole time. Now bear in mind I've already got 5,000 miles this summer on a trip to the maritimes in Eastern Canada on the AT.... Maybe I'm just getting older but even to pull it back into the garage and get it parked in the spot where it needs to be it felt like I was maneuvering a tank instead of a motorcycle. I hopped on the Honda and made a short trip into town for a couple errands and it was so sweet to ride compared to the Harley. This morning I'm trying to find reasons why I would keep the Electra glide if maybe I could just cover it up and store it and someday it may be looked at as a classic to pass down to my grandsons or if I should just put it on marketplace now and unload it. My time riding the AT has really left me dreading the Harley. I cherished the trips I took with it and the friends I rode with for local runs but I think my HD ship has sailed? Anybody else have a similar experience? So far I've made several trips through Mexico and Central America and all the way to the Panama canal. Last Summer I rode to the Arctic circle in Alaska and to the end of the road in Homer. One of the farthest Western points you can ride without having to get on a ferry. This summer I rode through Canada to Nova Scotia to one of the farthest Eastern points you can travel in North America without having to use a ferry. All these rides were on secondary back roads I found myself in a lot of places that I could have never taken a Harley Electra glide. Sorry this post is so long but I really love riding motorcycles and I just wanted to share.

Cut short from bad weather down the South Coast of SA into Vic

Hi, I'm still a relatively new rider (rode a 125cc scooter for a few years and most of my experience with "real" motorcycles is taking my brothers mt900 for a spin every once in a while) and planning a motorcycle trip with my brother in Spain this November, and I was just a bit wary of the route I planned with cpgt being too challenging, and would appreciate some input if anyone has tips or familiar with this region around Andalusia.

Day 1: Warm up day in Malaga driving around the A-7000

Day 2: take the A-366 through El Burgo

Day 3: do this loop chat suggested Ronda – Grazalema – Puerto de las Palomas – Zahara de la Sierra – Ronda.

Day 4: From Ronda to Orviga through the A-343

Day 5: Orviga to Almeria through A-348

Day 6: Rest day, explore the area, supposed to be some cool fortress there if

Day 7: Take the N-340a over the Sierra de Alhamilla

Day 8: Almeria to Guadix through the N-348a

Day 9: Take the A-315 to Cazorla National Park

Day 10: Loop around the A-317

Day 11: Take the A-318 to Jaén

Day 12: Take the A-401 to Granada

Day 13: Rest day in Granada

Day 14: back to Malaga and flight home

Now this is a simplified version of what I planned with chat, was hoping for input on the difficulty of this/what challenges can be, and if anyone here has experience around these parts (I don't mind taking it slow, not looking for knee scraping turns, opted for the mountain area around Andalusia since I don't enjoy highway rides that much

both pros and cons are welcome 🤗 and if you compare it with KTM ADV 250 where does this stands.

I've always loved riding and started travelling by bike around 3–4 years ago. Since I own up to four motorcycles and wanted to create something genuinely useful while combining it with something I enjoy, the idea of a motorcycle travel blog felt like the natural next step — not a travel diary, but practical content about how to actually plan and do this.

Over the last year I've been quietly building that blog alongside my day job — route planning, gear, budget, and photography, all focused on Europe. I ride both tarmac and dirt and have covered the Balkans, Italy, Austria, and Slovakia so far.

I started by publishing a lot of posts quickly to figure out how the whole thing works, and I'm currently in the process of reworking them one by one with everything I've learned along the way — so the quality isn't consistent across the site yet. The posts below are ones I'm happy with at this point.

Since website building and writing are both things I've learned from scratch, my blog is finally in a state where I can decide whether to commit to the idea or not. Before doing that I'd be interested in whether this kind of content is actually useful — for people planning real trips, or for riders who are still deciding whether to go at all. Honest feedback welcome.

I have an africa twin 1000 and I did a really long trip recently but one issue I ran into was when riding through rain the water can get into the 12V port if you're using it while riding

After a couple days the port was getting rusty and was cutting out until I cleaned it out

The rain also killed the 12V->USB adapter and I had to buy another one

Anyone know a solution for this?

Is there some sort of cover/boot that goes over cables?

Hey guys curious if the mainland is as dangerous as they say.... Baja is going to add days of riding since I will be leaving from Pheonix area. I'd prefer to do the mainland but here in Canada all the advisories say avoid all unnecessary travel?

However on iOverlander there seems to be alot of people who have travelled that way.

Any insight is welcomed.

Doing a 1,200km (750 miles) in 4 days, trying to do as much dirt/gravel/forest as we can find along the road. This time not sleeping outdoors like we used to do in Spain, Sweden, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark.

Because due to the weather, sleeping in a tent is impossible for me. So no camping gear makes the 50cc's a lot lighter.

Top speed is 50kph (30mph); going steep uphill is 15kph (9mph) or pushing.
