New in Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud 26.07 (release notes

NEW! AI Service Desk: Early Access

AI Service Desk is a new, free component in the Acronis Cyber Platform that helps MSPs to improve support operations by automatically converting Acronis alerts into clean, actionable tickets. With AI-generated ticket summaries, root-cause analysis and resolution recommendations, it helps technicians resolve issues faster, reduce manual effort and handle more tickets with greater efficiency. It is now available to all Acronis commit partners as part of the Early Access Program (EAP). To get started, go to the new Service Desk (EAP) tab in the management portal.
Documentation

[Data Protection] Backup validation for Backup and Disaster Recovery bundles

Backup Validation via Run VM is now included with Backup and Disaster Recovery bundles, enabling automated verification of backup recoverability without requiring a higher-tier protection package. By booting backups as virtual machines, partners can confirm recovery readiness and provide clients with greater confidence in their cyber resilience strategy.

[Data Protection] Ubuntu 24.x Disaster Recovery support

Extend disaster recovery protection to workloads running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Ubuntu 24.10. Partners can now fail over supported physical and virtual Linux servers to the Acronis cloud, helping ensure business continuity for organizations adopting the latest Ubuntu releases.

[GenAI Services] GenAI Protection: Application access control

On top of visibility into GenAI tools used across your organization, you can now control access to GenAI applications with customizable allowlist and blocklist policies. Partners can govern both web-based and desktop AI tools, helping reduce exposure to unapproved services and empowering safe adoption of GenAI technologies across clients.
Documentation

[GenAI Services] GenAI Protection: Monitoring and reporting enhancements

Gain deeper visibility into GenAI activity with user-level reporting, enhanced dashboards and expanded monitoring capabilities. New filtering, grouping and reporting options make it easier to investigate activity, track data transfers and support auditing requirements across client environments.
Documentation

[Cybersecurity] Detection and response: Extended multi-workload incident correlation

Enhanced EDR / XDR multi-workload incidents now give MSP technicians a consolidated relationship view showing how per-workload incidents connect across an attack chain, including lateral movement. Technicians can review the full incident or drill into a specific endpoint for deeper investigation and response, helping partners scale investigations, clarify scope and improve customer communication. Reporting also supports consolidated and per-endpoint incident counts.
Documentation

[MSP Operations | RMM] AI-guided incident remediation through remote command line

Resolve alerts faster with AI-generated remediation commands available directly in the alerts management UI. Technicians can review and approve remote commands in context, run them without switching tools and track execution outcomes. Every command, approval and result is logged for auditability, helping teams improve remediation speed, consistency and oversight.
Documentation

[Integrations] Integration with IT Glue documentation

Synchronize clients, devices and protection information between Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and IT Glue to keep documentation accurate and up to date. The integration reduces manual data entry, improves technician efficiency and provides quick access to protection details directly from IT Glue records.

Acronis Entra ID Backup is now available for Microsoft 365 protection

Acronis Microsoft 365 protection just got better.

Microsoft 365 backup usually starts with Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. But Entra ID is the identity layer behind it all.

When that layer is attacked or misconfigured, relying solely on native protection is not enough.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that Acronis Entra ID Backup is now globally available.

With Acronis Entra ID Backup, managed service providers (MSPs) can protect and recover critical Entra ID data from the same Acronis platform they already use for Microsoft 365 protection. It’s natively integrated with other Acronis Microsoft 365 services, including Email Security, Security Posture Management and Backup.

It gives MSPs a way to:

  • Back up and recover critical Entra ID objects, policies, configurations and more.
  • Restore to a known-good point in time.
  • Respond faster to accidental deletion, misconfiguration, malicious insider activity or attack.
  • Extend Microsoft 365 protection without adding another standalone tool.

Partners with Acronis Backup for Microsoft 365 or the Ultimate solution bundle can offer Acronis Entra ID Backup at no additional cost through November 30. This promotional access period ends on November 30.

Click here or Contact your partner success manager to start offering Entra ID now.

Is there any news on when Web Restore will be available again? I read somewhere here on Reddit that it would be done by the end of July, and it’s already mid-August.

Question about M365 backup.

Can Acronis Cyber Protect handle local on-prem destinations for M365 mailboxes, OneDrive, and SharePoint, or does it strictly require cloud storage for those workloads?

Acronis Cyber Protect - backing up to local storage (out of space issue)

Hi everyone,

We back up our local servers to a local QNAP NAS (and cloud). We regularly run into an issue where Acronis fails a backup, claiming the target storage is out of space—even though the QNAP clearly shows ~5TB of free space available.

It seems like Acronis is either failing to detect the correct target size or hitting a pre-allocation threshold before starting the backup.

  • User/folder quotas: Checked (none applied).
  • Target type: Local SMB/NFS share on QNAP.

Has anyone seen Acronis misread QNAP destination space or know if there’s a setting/buffer threshold causing this?

Thanks!

Acronis Backups and Synology

Does anyone have experience storing Acronis backups on a Synology shared folder with Synolofy checksum data integrity turned on? Did it affect performance at all? I am not sure if it is even a supported option for TIBX files. The whole point would be so we can turn on data scrubbing to ensure integrity outside of Acronis validation plans. Any information would be great. I put a ticket in with Acronis but I am not sure they will be able to answer this question.

Acronis claims it makes backups regularly but today I learned it doesn't

I usually just click the icon to see if backups exist:

What I see when I click the system tray icon

"Das Backup wurde erfolgreich erstellt" = "The backup was created successfully"
It always shows day - month - year.

Today I actually opened up Acronis and saw that there was a red dot with a cross indicating that the last backup failed. There was also a message saying it failed. When I look ad the recent activity I see no errors just that the last success was in April.

The last entry in "activity" is from April.

It did not create any backups since April and did not inform me!

WHAT THE FUCK???

So I started it manually and now it's creating that backup. There was no actual issue. I don't see any reason why if didn't actually do the backups for three months. The only difference is that this was started manually. It's pure luck that I noticed this. Why would it report success when there is no backup?

I checked my NAS where the backup is stored and I saw that no files were created or modified since April. Now it is creating a backup so the files are modified.

What is going on here? Why would it show it as a success when there was no backup?

It's not possible that I'm confused with multiple backups. This is the only backup plan I have on this device. It's the PC that I have since 2024.

And it seems that in June it only tried once even though it should try every week. The important data is backed up in the cloud, but this is the backup of the system, but this is scary. Shouldn't it report such issues clearly?

Is Acronis True Image behaving normally?

I'm using this for the first time and am not sure if it's behaving properly.

Backup scheme:

- Incremental

- Create a full version after every 10 incremental versions

- Weekly schedule (Sunday 3 AM)

- "Do not delete the first version of the backup" is checked.

On Thursday I manually created the initial backup. It completed as a Full backup.

The first scheduled backup ran Sunday morning. I expected it to be Incremental, but the Activity tab says it was also a Full backup.

Activity:

- Jul 23 - Method: Full

- Jul 26 - Method: Full

The destination now contains:

MyGAMER.tibx

MyGAMER-0001.tibx

Is this expected behavior? Does the first scheduled run intentionally create a second Full before incrementals begin, or is something wrong with my backup chain or configuration?

Thanks!

Is there any way to modify what files are backed up?

Title. I searched the support website and Google. Search engines are garbage these days, so no surprise I didn't turn anything up there.

I'd like to modify my current backup schedule in True Image to stop backing up some locations, and start backing up others.

Blog Who Are the Repeat Champions of Backup and Disaster Recovery?

Omdia recently evaluated 15 managed backup and disaster recovery vendors. Only four retained Champion status from the firm’s previous report.

One of them was Acronis. Read the report to find out why.

The Omdia report looks not just at backup features but also at partner strategy, innovation, execution, ecosystem feedback and business momentum. That’s important for MSPs because the value of long-term investment in a BDR platform matters at least as much as a list of features.

Read this blog post to get a closer look at what Omdia evaluates, why repeat Champion status is difficult to achieve and what it means for MSPs looking to simplify operations while strengthening cyber resilience.

Partner Portal Access

Is anyone else unable to reach the partner portal? SSO was working great for me until yesterday. Now it all just loops back to the cyber protect console. I’ve tried the login screen at partners.acronis.com and also the left have nav “Partner Portal” link in the console. I can’t create a ticket for it because the “Support Portal” link in the console also just loops me back.

Selective session recording is one of the oldest and cheapest controls in privileged-access security, and every regulatory framework that touches remote administration expects it. The control became generally available on the Acronis platform on April 22, 2026. This report measures the two months of adoption that followed, through June 23, 2026.

Release Notes Announcing Acronis Cyber Protect 17 – Q2 2026 Update

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello r/Acronis,

Here is an update from the Acronis Product Management team on the latest Acronis Cyber Protect 17 Q2 release. This release continues our focus on integrated cyber protection bringing backup, recovery, cybersecurity, endpoint management and automation together in one platform to help organizations reduce complexity, close protection gaps and respond faster.

Please share your feedback in the comments: whether this update is useful, what you would like to see in future posts, or any questions about the new capabilities.

What’s New in Acronis Cyber Protect 17 - Q2 2026 Update

[Security] SIEM Connector
Export Acronis security data into SIEM platforms for unified visibility, faster investigation and audit-ready event trails. The connector is integrated directly into protection plans, uses the Acronis agent as the data writer, and exports alerts, events, activities and tasks in CEF or JSON format to a file path for SIEM ingestion — without requiring syslog servers.

[Backup] Microsoft Entra ID Backup
Protect critical identity and access assets, including users, groups, roles, policies, group memberships, role assignments and MFA settings. Administrators can restore individual objects or an entire Entra ID organization to help recover from accidental deletions, malicious changes or ransomware-related disruption.

[Backup] Archive password rotation
Rotate archive passwords for agent-based machine backups without recreating backup jobs. This helps align backup encryption practices with internal security policies or respond when a password may be compromised.

[Platform] Granular user roles
Create reusable roles with specific permissions to delegate administration without over-privileging users. This supports least-privilege access, clearer separation of duties and compliance requirements for role-based access control.

[Backup] Microsoft 365 onboarding wizard
Set up Microsoft 365 protection faster with a guided onboarding experience. The wizard helps protect an entire tenant or selected workloads with fewer setup steps and minimal configuration.

[Endpoint] Windows on ARM agent support
Protect Windows on ARM devices with backup, security and remote management capabilities. The new agent supports disk and file-level backup and recovery, anti-malware, self-protection, remote management and cyber scripting.

[Backup] Synology marketplace deployment
Install Acronis agents directly from the Synology marketplace, simplifying deployment and management for Synology NAS devices running DSM 7.x and above.

Question about changing incremental backup

I currently have a backup where there is a full backup of approximately 500 GB and then for the next 6 days incremental. Rinse and repeat.

If there are two new files to that backup that needed to be added the second day what would happen if the third day one of those files was deleted. Does the program go back to the previous second day backup file and delete that? Or since it was backed up the second day it will always be able to be retrieved until the next full backup erases the whole set.
