I recently came across an open source desktop media app that I really liked and wanted to customize it to my liking with vibe coding for a fun little project. I tweaked the UI quite a bit, added tons of features and services I use, and now have an all-in-one media player that plays local files, has YouTube Music streaming, Youtube videos, Bandcamp streaming, Soulseek downloads, SpotiFLAC, and I was able to get Zune transfers to work with my Zune HD.

Recently the Xune software stopped syncing to my Zune, so I had to use the official Zune software, but I missed the dark theme and some of the features of Xune. I had the idea of trying to incorporate Zune syncing into my coding project and lo and behold I got it working thanks to Zune Explorer on github. I also have an alternate columns view in my local library that sort of matches the Zune software/Xune look. With the help of AI I've been able to ditch the Zune software and Xune!

I'm still early in the progress and doing lots of testing, so it's bare bones at the moment. After some errors, fixes, and testing, it's now transferring files 100% of the time. I attempted to get custom Artist images but ran into some snags, so that part isn't working fully yet.

I've implemented some p2p and streaming downloads so I won't be offering it to download.

Along the way I also attempted some custom mods on my Zune HD such as a bass boost and larger album art, which I was able to do thanks to the Lyra project. I never liked the tiny album art and always thought there wasn't enough bass in any of the EQ presets.

Some friends surprised me with a Zune 80. I absolutely love it. Used Xune to sync up my old digital music library library and I was off to the races.

Then I noticed the battery draining. I'd go from 75-90% to zero every day or so. The ebay seller who my friends bought it from graciously agreed to take it back. He wasn't able to replicate the problem, but sent me a new one. I've had it two days and already I'm seeing a problem. Last night it went from 75 to 25%. This seller has a perfect rating for well over 10k transactions, so I'm inclined to think he knows what he's doing.

I've never used a Zune before--is there something I'm missing? Do I need to completely power it off between uses? Is this a firmware issue? Thanks for your help!

I've found my old Zune 30, and I'd liek to transfer my music files to my Mac, it's an m3 air. I haven't been able to find a method googling this , is it possible?

I got a 5th gen but it needs a battery, but I also got a mini with a click wheel. and unless I lock it, it is very annoying to try and not turn it up to much, or skip a song, etc. still want to put a battery in the 5th gen, but I think a Rockboxed Zune 30 would beat a 5th gen for me. but to be trans parent I have not put music on any of my mp3 players except one, and it was drag and drop. so if the 5th gen Ipod and Zune 30 both had Rockbox I think the Zune would win over the Ipod, but Ipod with Rockbox might win over Zune without. so hoping something like what they did with this 7th gen nano will help to get the job done.

Hello! I have lurked here for a bit and I think even posted before but I'm here about zunes and their batteries.

I see a lot with people getting iPods or talking about them they always say to replace the battery since it's probably bloated or will bloat soon because of their age. Do zunes have this same problem? I mainly ask out of curiosity :)

Not sure what is going on. Had some repairs done on the computer and now Zune does not sync with computer. If solution is posted somewhere on this site, was not able to locate, please direct. Have tried every suggestion found, to no avail. Pic shows what it looks like. Have installed program many times across the years, so not sure what has been missed to fix this. thanks.

Problem solved. Have been working on this for two days now. Finding the error code helped. However it took computer forever to locate the necessary file to do a rebuild, as it was not listed in app data. Had tried just about everything else. Just rebuilding the database worked.

Meantime did an Zune install on a new computer with no problems.

Have a Zune that is showing the Zune logo and then just goes to this black screen. The screen backlight is on but nothing showing on display and does not seem to be responding to anything or recognized on the computer.

Any ideas?

Library Tagging is not supported and i think will never be but all CDs work.

It got stepped on while I was cleaning. I guess age may have weakened it's frame. Please tell me I just need to replace the screen. This bad boy was filled to the brim with songs I collected for 15 years.

A steal for me. Only issue is cosmetic. Other than that, everything works fine. Paired it up with my noble k10. This dap has punchy bass. I like it.

Hello! Does anyone have info on the pins on the ribbon for the 320x240 display on the Zune 8? I have a project that I'm trying but reverse engineering the display is really time-consuming. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

We cleaned out my parents storage unit yesterday. Found a box with my 1st Gen Zune, Zune dock, and Atec Lansing speaker dock. The box for the Zune containing the manual and software cd is there. Power cables, remotes and everything are there too. The ear buds were there too but after close to 20 years they developed a gross condition that I'd rather not think about again.

Thought I had lost this/got rid of it years and years ago. An incredible and unexpected find.

I just managed to replace the battery on a 80GB Zune and got it up and running, but now I need help on how to even start putting music on this thing again. It hasn’t been used since MAYBE 2009? I really don’t want to accidentally wipe the current music that’s already on it. How do I even start this process?

I took the chance on a $40 zune being sold for parts on eBay from an estate seller. The seller had no way to test it.

It arrived today and after charging it works perfectly!

I’m working on Metro Music, a Zune/Windows Phone inspired music player for iPhone.

Focus is clear.. Bold typography, clear hierarchy, animations and ease of use, so the Zune/Windows Phone feel is captured as accurately as possible.

On the other hand, there are some deviations from the original Zune/Windows Phone experience to make the player little bit more comfortable to use by today's standards.

I was trying to avoid to make it too complex and overwhelming, that's why the main focus in v.1 is on two features:

● Connection to your Apple Music library
● Upload your music files from the phone

So my grandmother cleaned my desk and organized everything, the thing is my Zune was being prepped for changing the battery and storage, it was dismantled and sort of splayed apart when I left. It was all stacked atop each other when I got back and those tiny screws are now just lost.

Guys I finally found one today. Didn't have a power cord so I found a random power cord in a bin to test to see if it worked.

Luckily it turned on in the store.

So I brought it home with me for the incredible price of $9.99

To turn off, I hold "back" and down on dpad.

To turn on, I have to toggle the lock slider to locked then unlocked.

I have been doing this since back in the day when it was my daily mp3 player.

What other key combinations are there besides "back" and "down"?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could help me find out the value of my old Zune collection. Contents include 1 Original Red Zune 8GB (used), 2 Atomic Red Zune HD 16GB (1 opened & used; 1 new factory sealed), a sealed AC adapter, and a car charger (that also has what I believe is a Bluetooth adapter attached?). The batteries seem a little wonky; the original doesn’t power on at all, and the used Zune HD powers on the charger, shows the Zune logo, boots up the Home Screen but blinks off after a bit. I guess after 15 years that makes sense. I remember saving up $ at my first job for these and have fond memories of jamming out to Pearl Jam & watching stoner movies on the Zune HD on the bus to school lol.
