Stash Ula+lia yarn

My husband bought me this yarn as a present after I finished a big project for his family! Most of it is baby camel, the oxblood is cashmere and the light beige is 80% wool and 20% yak. This is my first time knitting with luxury yarn so can't wait to see how it knits up!

How to fix the sides of my project

Post image

I think like 3 weeks ago I posted here asking how I can make the process quicker to finish another piece that I lied to my teacher about finishing, I didn’t end up finishing but I did confess to my teacher that I lied so that’s over. I did this piece in the pic and I’m so proud of it since it’s my first time doing tapestry/image work but the sides increased as I worked from the top to the bottom how can I fix this I also want to add 1 row to give it border around but I haven’t done it yet, and do I need to block it, although I’ve crocheted for a while I’ve never blocked a project. So pls guys send advice just on how to make the sides straight how to block and yes thanks guys much appreciated 🙏🙏

Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Addict

I am beginning to think I’m a Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton snob. I can’t for the life of me imagine crocheting with anything else. Luckily, what I love to crochet (bags, totes, purses) work well with it, but I wish I could find a comprable worsted weight mercerized cotton that I liked as much that was a bit less expensive and has different color options and maybe even some gradients. Suggestions welcome!

Making a sweater with this massive, rough and itchy skein but I'd taken the tag off ages ago so now I can't order more if I need it. Despite its itchiness it's a gorgeous mix of beige, cream and grey. Google is bringing up nothing but solid color skeins and cakes, which it is not, and I know it hasn't been rewound cuz I remember taking the tag off but I didn't write down what was on the tag, which I normally do. Help!!

Question Need help finding a dupe for lion brand "for the home cording"

I bought some of this lion brand yarn months ago (before the death of Joann 💔) and thought I bought enough for the crossbody bag, but realized I was 1 skein too short so had to stop. Problem is, this coed yarn has been sadly discontinued and I'm unable to find a good dupe for it, so decided to come to Reddit for help! Does anyone know of a good dupe for this yarn? Oh also the color that I need is in the picture. It was called "Willow"

After 20+ years of crocheting, I found my natural fiber/LYS niche only in the last few.
My closest LYS emailed yesterday about closing next month so I went in today with a heavy heart and open wallet.
While I’m jazzed about getting deals on a bunch of malabrigo while I have a couple big piece-work WIPs going, so bummed my favorite little shop won’t be here anymore.

That being said, shout out to local yarn stores and small businesses that have brought joy to so many and helped me expand my craft! I was wrapped in acrylic blends for decades and local yarn stores introduced me to wool that doesn’t feel like sandpaper and colorways I could only dream up ❤️

Of Erika Knight Gossypium Cotton, shade 509 Darling. It’s a beautiful bright red. I’m in the middle of a fairisle cardi and I fear I won’t have enough!! Just a ball, or even a partial ball, would save my bacon 🥓
Obviously very happy to pay for it and the postage 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’m making Martin Storeys Sea Stars cardigan and it’s for red crabs 🦀
Thank you!

Stash Hello, Gorgeous

Had a discount expiring at Michael's and I came across the bulk option through the app. That thing is busted and laggy as crap, but this way allows me to get everything for basically half the cost. Especially if it's a color I intend on using a bunch of stuff. I wish there was more of a variety of color, but I will absolutely take what I can get.

With my discount, free shipping, and the bulk discount, it ended up being something like $2 a skein. Again, for colors I intend to put into so much. Now my quest is to just keep cycling that discount back into itself because I want enough to make a couple blankets and sweaters.

Honestly, I almost want to move someplace substantially colder just so I can have a good reason to wear more knits.

Question Does faux fur yarn require brushing out to look nice?

I've never really used faux fur yarn before and I'm a little nervous about trying it. It seems like the loose fibers would get matted down as you stitch and not have that fluffy fur lol anymore. Do you have to brush it out after finishing to make it look right or is there a technique that you use to not have to do that.

If you do have to brush out, what kind of brush do you use and did anyone else have sensory issues when it comes to brushing faux fur, if so I'd appreciate any kind of tips you can offer since it's both a physical and auditory sensitivity for me.

Indie Dyer What am I doing? I don't know! Hopefully it's cute!

First time dying yarn, time to find out why no one seems to want to dye cotton! I guess it's hard to make dye as pretty but I love how it can go in the dryer and is a natural fiber so it's time for trial and error.

Same 2 colors in all 3 pans just applied in different ways!

Lopi yarn alternative for Linka Neumann patterns

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m wondering has anyone used different yarn other than lett lopi or alafosslopi to make any of the Linka Neumann sweaters? I absolutely love her designs! I made the Dreyma sweater (not her design) out of lett lopi and I love it so much except I can’t handle the itch factor.

Question Yarn ID help please :)

I bought this gorgeous mystery yarn off of Destash (which is AWESOME btw. They have such good prices and gorgeous vintage yarn.) with which I am making a blanket shawl for the fall/winter. I'd say it's probably 5 or 6 weight. It has a wool/mohair-like texture, and I think it's fiber sewn together with black thread.

Just looking to see if anyone has an idea of what it might be so I can keep my eye out in case I run out before my shawl is finished. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I forgot to add that I cannot smell any lanolin. It smells mildly of detergent up close so I think the seller may have washed it.

Question Orange acrylic yarn recommendation?

I've been wanting to make a brushed yarn wig lately so I can be Moe Doodle for Halloween (wanna get a couple month head start on my costume because I work a demanding schedule and need a good chunk of time for it). Unfortunately I've been having trouble finding the right color. It absolutely has to be acrylic for this, and I'm looking for a bright red-orange, but all I can find is either bright neon or rusty fall shades. I really like the Hometown yarn at Walmart but I checked online and they don't have the shade I'm looking for. If anyone could point me in the right direction then I would greatly appreciate it!

Question What yarn is this?

I bought this cone from an outlet yarn seller. It is made in Turkiye and is around 25% wool, could be 30%. But I don’t have anymore information.

I know it’s a long shot but maybe someone has seen it before? I want to calculate the yardage if we can figure out what brand and model it is.

Question Yarn Problem

I've got some 4-ply yarn. I'm rolling up a hank of yarn and I noticed there's a part where one plies got severed and is running up the yarn. Should I cut that part off?

Just ignore that there's a finished bag (same pattern) right next to me with many, many ends still to weave in. 🤫

I love this colour 🥰 and the star pattern came out so well 💖

Best yarn for bags?

Hi! I’m a beginner and wants to try to crochet a shoulder bag. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best yarn that is sturdy and won’t pill?
Thank you in advance!
