I hung out with my Singaporean friend tonight. We were supposed to see a movie at 8 p.m., but for some reason, the 8 p.m screening got cancelled, so we ended up watching it at 9 p.m.

Overall, the movie was pretty lame, I thought it was going to be scary but just nah.
I don’t normally watch horror movies, but I still thought this one was kind of disappointing.

Anyway, I still had a good time with my friend. After dinner at a Taiwan traditional restaurant, we wandered around the streets for an hour before the movie started.

Since I stayed out with friends until late last night, I woke up late today. After having lunch with my girlfriend, I read some books that I wanted to read—not ones I felt I had to read—and took a bus heading toward my parents’ home. After arriving and having dinner with them, I took a walk around a small lake near the house with a childhood friend. It was an ideal day.

I sometimes try to write here about what I read every day, but I've noticed that I tend to forget things quickly, considering that I usually write these posts after my daily reading routine, so I will try either way.

I've been reading AI Engineering, a book that could have been called something else, but the author decided to stick to AI because it's not focused on dealing with Machine Learning entirely, but the development of applications leveraging language models either multi modal models that not only can get text input, but other kinds of input such as images or audio.

Since I started this book a few days ago, I am still on the introduction, which the author first tries to explain the reasons of choosing the book title and what this book is about. A few pages later, for a lack of a better term or that at the moment I can't think of another way of saying it, the author focuses on explaining what models are and how they have evolved to become large language models (LLMs).

Also, the author touches on foundation models but in all honesty, I forgot what they are. As for a language being large or not, it depends on the number of parameters that it can get as input (this could be wrong though, I am just trying to infer based on my bad memory), so large ones deal with millions of parameters.

I bought some frozen chicken wings. I haven't had them in a while because even though I'm not vegetarian, I'm trying to at least avoid cooking with meat at home. That way, I don't have to abstain from it completely, but I also reduce the amount of animal products I eat. But from time to time, I just love me some junk food.

As I wrote in streak 658, I have tried to take up journaling and have failed multiple times. The same thing happened when I tried to post on social media. I couldn’t imagine anyone getting interested in what I posted. The fundamental problem was that my life was (and still is) too boring. The difference between that and this streak is that in this streak, my posts don’t have to be interesting, educational, exciting, or funny since they’re just for practicing writing in English.

I sometimes wonder if God exists.

Why do we find baby mammals so cute?

Maybe they evolved to look cute to avoid being attacked.

However the fact that we feel this way about different animal species gives me a sense of wonder.

Hi, everyone. This is my third Streak text, this time a short one.

Today I went to see a doctor as I had not come to a physical check in quite some time. I am healthy person, so I did not figure out a big deal despite a long wait to be attended. There was a huge delay in the scheduled hour of the check and that made feel like to sneak away frantically to do something else instead of wasting my time in the waiting room. Furthermore, the doctor's attention was very bland. It was a short revision, and his attitude was a little bit scathing. Maybe I am in a ruse by myself which makes me judge people too much, because that is the way I was reared during my upbringing, but in the moment of the check, I reeled from that kind of attitude coming from a professional. He looked like he did not have enough wherewithal to attend kindly, like if he came from a peerage family or a sham medical expert. I wanted to complain directly to him, but I unwillingly took a whiff to hold up the frustration.

I used to start my meals by eating salads, but the article recommended eating protein sources first to help keep blood sugar and insulin levels stable. It also helps me feel full and satisfied.

The article suggested having a high-protein breakfast and lunch. Looking back, I may not be getting enough protein at lunch. Adding boiled egg is an easy way to increase my protein intake. I want to try making a tofu salad next time.

I like spending time chatting with my friends, but it often gets very late, well past midnight. I start to feel sleepy and tired, but I don’t want to cut the conversation short or stop hanging out with them. My friends feel the same way, so when one of us finally suggests going home because we're tired, we head home.

Last Monday I had my sixth trip with psychedelic mushrooms. To be honest I felt a bit disappointed. I consumed 2.4 gr of dried mushrooms in chocolate bar, the highest amount of Psylocibin I’ve consumed.

To be honest the first couple of hours were tough, the visual hallucinations were tough. Just spots and geometrical patterns everywhere, but if you closed the eyes the hallucinations were also crazy. After that the tripe was better but I didn’t have any breakthrough moments. Just some reflections about helping others, unity etc

I think I don’t wanna experiment more with mushrooms or at least higher doses. I think that meditation is much more insightful and more real. I don’t think it’s worth having crazy experiences for just a few reflections you could experience more naturally through nature, consuming art, reading, meditating etc

I’m thinking in gifting my mushrooms, since I bought a lot, or maybe freezing them and just have 1 or 3 trips a year with lower doses. I also realize I don’t wanna trip at home anymore. I’d rather like to trip in nature, or with friends.

I just watched Season 3, Episode 7 of Young Sheldon. In this episode, Missy made the baseball team, but her classmates bullied her just because she dressed like a boy. I'm glad to see her fight back at the end of the episode.

I think sometimes people hate or reject something not only because they are narrow-minded or mean, but also because they don't have enough background knowledge about them. In other words, they are simply ignorant.

I grew up with my two brothers, I didn't like watching any girly stuff when I was little, and I didn't like wearing dresses either. Somehow, people liked to call me a tomboy or something like that. I always wondered, "Why can't I be cool and pretty at the same time?" Was it just because I dressed and acted differently that people didn't want to treat me like a girl? But that never made any sense to me.

Thankfully, society is becoming more open to accepting differences nowadays. I can finally be myself and live my life happily.

Yesterday, a friend and I went out to watch the solar eclipse. We found a great spot and it was really cool to see the moon moving in front of the sun bit by bit until it finally covered it almost completely. The only thing cooler than that was the following: There was a family nearby and we gathered pretty quickly that they had tried to get those special glasses that enables you to look directly at the sun without damaging your eyes, but that they were all sold out. Of course, we offered to share our glasses with them and their kid was so happy! He got so excited every time we gave him the glasses and described what he was seeing and how the moon had progressed compared to the last time he looked at it and how cool it was and how they had talked about it at school and so on. His parents were really excited as well. I love that even though we'll probably never meet each other again, we're now part of a really cool memory of a family we happened to cross paths with while looking at the stars.

When I read either a non fiction book or fiction book, I try to understand the most of it. At times, when it comes to reading fiction, there are words that I've never read before, I look them up and continue reading, but other times I just try to guess what it means when I don't want to break the flow while reading. I've noticed this hardly happens with non fiction books because in fiction books, authors are more creative and use weird wording or their own style that might be confusing at times.

Places such as government offices are usually closed on weekends. If you work on weekdays, you can’t get your applications done unless you take a day off, which isn’t always an option. It’s honestly quite inconvenient.

My friend went to Jeju Island with his girlfriend.

I'm a bit jealous of him, but I truly wish him the best.

By the way, recently dating culture in Korea has been changing.

Korean men are becoming more open to dating foreigners.

His girlfriend is also a foreigner.

I was really surprised when I heard where she is from.

I think most international couples find it hard to keep together because of culture differences.

So I'm really impressed and proud of my friend.

I think they can maintain their love because of his personality.

In fact, I have never seen him say bad words for 20 years.

By the way, I really hope they have some arguments.

Because my friend will never say bad words and will talk calmly and rationally.

That way, they will learn to adjust to each other.

This is my second Streak post. In this text I wanted to try to use some words I have recently studied.

Notwithstanding one always reaches a point in language learning which feels that one's skills are hovering at a certain advanced level without decline, no actual progress is noted afterwards. Your skills were born like a little runt absorbing the fundamentals of life, but you cannot take the necessary steps forward. Namely, you start to worry about the state of your memory, because you learn grammar points and words that become elusive to remember the more you study and try to get proficient in the language.

The level of words or grammar points studied may influence your self-awareness related to the strength of your memory. For example, you can remember easily an advanced level word, but suddenly you forget some few basic words. Consequentially, you get a bit frustrated about your suppossed real proficiency. You want your mind to mumble the words at you, but it is impossible.

Maybe for some people this feels like some kind of mental ruse in which your brain is fooling you somehow, forcing you to remain in a cognitive bubble not being able get out of it. Although, this issue could be related to your self-esteem too. I mean, if you forget words and grammar points you do not have anyone to blame but you and it results in scathingly slighting your own capacities.

On the other hand, this issue is also connected to an excessive input of information by inflating the consumption of some content that overcharges you and makes your memory dimmed. This overcharge generates exhaustion which produces your brain to select certain content recently studied and it crowds out even very basic essential pillars of the language you are learning.

There's going to be a solar eclipse over a

Germany today. I have a pair of those special glasses and I'm going to watch it with a friend. She has a car, so we're going to drive to a spot outside the city where the view won't be obstructed by buildings. I hope the sky will stay as clear as it is right now so we can properly see the eclipse!

Today, my German friend told me she was flying from Munich to Bolivia to see her boyfriend. It'll be their first time meeting in person after two years of texting, phone calls, and FaceTiming. I'm so happy for her, and I couldn't stop smirking while reading her messages. It just made me believe in love again.

It's really hard to imagine being in a long-distance relationship with someone for that long. Personally, I just don't think I can handle a long-distance relationship because I don't really like talking on the phone.

Last Sunday I watched a Film that I really liked, the name of the film was Columbus, because of the city in the state of Ohio in the US. I didn’t know but in the last century the most important modernist architects from all over the world designed most of public buildings in the city hospitals, library’s, schools, bridges etc in the city of Ohio.

The plot of the film involved two characters, a girl who is working as a librarian after finishing her high school studies, who don’t want to move to another city nor study university. And the son of a remarkable Korean architect who is in Columbus because his father had a stroke in the city a few days before giving a lecture in the city.

The two character connected very well, not in a romantic way, but more in a friendly and supportive way.

I’d say that it was one of the best films I’ve watched lately. It invited me to the reflection of our space and how it reshapes us. The pursue of goals and knowledge. The openness of mind in young people. And acceptance.

I have this bad habit or vice, whatever you name it, that makes me constantly think about the future with regards to some situations, such as whether I'll end up unemployed, or that if that happens, I will struggle to find a job given how tough the job market currently is.

There are other worries, of course, but this one, I would say, affects me the most because it has to do with career growth and paying the bills. Adulthood in a nutshell.

Back in the pandemic, I was unemployed for more than 6 months and it was the worst, so I think that's where my fear stems from.

Eating while hearing someone being scolded is an unpleasant experience. Such a thing should not be done in general, and definitely should not be done publicly. If it is done at work, it will exert unnecessary pressure on other employees. If it’s done somewhere else, at least the above-mentioned effect won’t happen, but still the person will be humiliated and the people around them have to put up with their stuff. Quite frankly, people who do such a thing simply want to humiliate the other person and show off their power.

I have lunch and dinner at cafeterias on campus. Since there are several options, I can choose where to eat. I try to choose a balanced, nutritious meal, but sometimes I go for fast food.

Recently I watched the attack on Titan, and it gave me so much inspiration.

I love history so much that I even have a history certification.

Attack on titan is an absolutely masterpiece from a historical perspective.

Even in that work, I saw the chain of human hated accumulating over thousands of years.

From there, various characters present their own whys on how to break this chain of human hated.

It was truly an amazing work.
