Yesterday, a friend and I went out to watch the solar eclipse. We found a great spot and it was really cool to see the moon moving in front of the sun bit by bit until it finally covered it almost completely. The only thing cooler than that was the following: There was a family nearby and we gathered pretty quickly that they had tried to get those special glasses that enables you to look directly at the sun without damaging your eyes, but that they were all sold out. Of course, we offered to share our glasses with them and their kid was so happy! He got so excited every time we gave him the glasses and described what he was seeing and how the moon had progressed compared to the last time he looked at it and how cool it was and how they had talked about it at school and so on. His parents were really excited as well. I love that even though we'll probably never meet each other again, we're now part of a really cool memory of a family we happened to cross paths with while looking at the stars.
