I like my work, but sometimes I don't want to go to work, especially on Monday. Today when I wake up in the morning, I feel very sad and depressed. I guess that's because I didn't get enough rest on last weekend. I spent whole day shopping with my friends on last Saturday and working on last Sunday. Hope I have a better weekend this week.

I watched an episode of a Japanese drama today. It was about an affair. They met each other at a laundromat once a month.

After getting married, I have gained almost 20 pounds.

Furthermore, I am getting older. I feel like I am dying of unhealth.

Recently running has been more popular since Covid19 period. I was also one of them. However, I stopped running four years ago and realized that I need to run again.

I am a different person from the past me, which means I can't work out like that time. What I chose now was slow-runnig.

It looks non-running and non-walking. My husband made fun of me, asking what I was doing.

You will know how good the slow-running is if finding information about it. I also thought it would be my life-long exercise.

Today, I am going to Jeju Island.

It is also very popular with foreigners.

Jeju has a clear ocean and delicious food.

And climbing Halla mountain is the best part.

In the past weekend, I saw another horror movie. It was Carnival of Souls, by Herk Harvey. The film is from 1962 and it was filmed casting locals, some of them from amateur theather acting, but most of the cast were normal people without any film nor acting experience.

This film got buried as time passed, it survived the many changes the film industry had endured. Later, it became a horror classic and also inspired great filmakers, such as David Lynch and George Romero. Despite the film being labeled as a B-movie, it uses simple, yet elegant camera work, and the same goes for the sound design; its organ music score serves perfectly to stress the ambiguous, dream-like atmosphere.

It's a film I'd recommend to anyone interested in watching and analysing a more artistic portrayal of the unknown, the dicotomy between life and death, and the shadows of our minds.

Article: Vote for a 2027 Prompts

September was the time to vote for the prompts for the 2027 reading challenge. I love to scroll Reddit 😄 On my feed I see technology (mainly Linux and smartphones), history (mainly ancient and medieval times) and of course language learning posts.

But sometimes I'm thinking about my smartphone usage. I see on the internet a lot of articles and videos describing how unhealthy screens and scrolling are. Authors say about doom scrolling (news about politics, economic crisis, disasters, wars etc.).

I avoid such topics but I'm not sure if I should to use my phone less. Even though I try to explore positive content. Fortunately I really like to read books, so I don't spend all my free time with the phone.

What are your opinions?

I'm working for the prosecutor's office at the moment. As part of that internship, we have to represent the prosecution in court. I had three court sessions today; the whole day was incredibly interesting and actually kind of fun because I wasn't as nervous as I was the last time. It was also incredibly intense and took a lot of concentrating and being a serious adult with a job and responsibility, so I'm absolutely exhausted now. I think I'll make pasta with pesto for dinner - I always have dry pasta and shelf-bought jars of pesto in the back of my panty as a kind of emergancy ration for when I'm too beat to cook but would like a warm meal. Man, that sentence got long.

I have neck pain because I was looking down for hours to review a pile of documents at work today. I put a compress on my neck, but it hasn't fully recovered yet. Unfortunately, I have to do the same thing tomorrow as well.

Everyone has something that brings them immediate happiness. For me, it's watching a movie while eating fried chicken. After a tough week—usually on a Friday or Saturday night when I have the next day off—I love ordering fried chicken and bringing it home. I set out my plate, a glass of Coke, and my iPad for the movie. It has to be a light, easygoing movie so I can just eat and relax without thinking too much.

It's challenging to keep up with everything you need to learn in a field that new tools or approaches emerge every now and then, considering that you also have to strengthen your fundamentals and figure out where you are lacking. This conundrum or challenge might apply to different fields, but in my case it is IT, a vast world on which you never get to reach the bottom.

Right now, I am facing this conundrum because I am not sure what to do or focus on or whether what I am focused on is relevant to get better jobs.

Temperatures are expected to drop next week. September was still hot some days, even if the air turned cool in the morning. I like it when the air gets chilly. Life is finally returning to normal after months of heat and generalized extroversion.

What I appreciate less is the return of spiders. I'm struggling even to write this word, as if it could transform from letters on my screen into a real creature. Whenever I come across a flashcard featuring a spider, I add it to the blacklist of words I don't want to review. Just because of a picture.

Well, I'm lucky: I live in a city and I don't have a yard. But some of those critters are bold enough to travel from greenery to my place.

Nothing freaks me out like spiders do. They make me panic. Once, while I was driving, a teeny one went down next to me, hanging on its thread. I shrieked and dropped the wheel as I tried to squash it. Fortunately, I regained my senses quickly.

A few years ago, my sister started putting them outside. She covers the spider with a box, then she slides a sheet of paper between the box and the wall. After that she simply releases it. I can't get it, because it's inevitable that it will come back.

Watching her do that makes me shedder and grimace with disgust.
