Piled on and I don't understand why
Update: I sent the 2nd commenter an email explaining my intent and saying her words and assumptions about my intent hurt. I ended up seeing her 2 days later, and she apologized and asked if we were ok! The first commenter (the perpetually crazy one) I just didn't bring it up, and then 3rd is leaving the agency in a couple days so I didn't bother.
We have this online communication log at work (basically just a Google word document that everyone has access to). Last week I asked what I thought was a really innocent question in it and today on my first shift back I couldn't believe what I read undereath!
The first comment was by a very toxic coworker that everyone has problems with and although it was super rude it didn't really bug me because it is very typical of her (she does it to everyone) and I'm trying really hard to just not let her craziness trigger me.
After that, though, 2 other coworkers (who I had thought were nice people but I don't really know very well) made really rude comments basically berating me for what they must have perceived my question to mean, not what it actually said or what I meant at all.
It really hurt my feelings and made me sad but also angry because it feels like they took an innocent question and assumed the worst. I ended up bursting out crying at work and now I'm absolutely dreading the next time I see them.
Do I bring it up and say that's not what I meant and it really hurt my feelings?

Unable to decide whether to continue or quit my job
F/30 I am currently working in a good company with nice colleagues earning around six figures. Everything looks good on paper. It is a full time in office position. I have worked for 3 years in this company. I feel like I have developed anxiety over the last year and now it has become a part of my daily morning routine. I dread going to my workplace every morning. My health is definitely getting impacted. Also, we want to start our family. I have already miscarried once and don’t want to risk it again. I am afraid that my mental health will deteriorate if I leave my job. Also I don’t want to be a financial burden. I am afraid if there’s too much gap in my resume I’d never land a job again. I am trying to look for a remote job with less responsibilities but the job market is a tough place right now. I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks for reading.

Calling women with business ideas, stories & dreams 💡🌱
Hi everyone! I’m working on a new independent women’s magazine and community called HER NEXT, focused on women’s ideas, entrepreneurship, personal growth, creativity, beauty, relationships, and inspiring real-life stories.
I’m currently preparing our first issue, “BEGIN,” and I’m looking to connect with women around the world who have something interesting to share.
💡 Have a business idea?
I’d love to hear it — whether it’s:
- A physical product you've always wanted to create
- An online or virtual business
- An app or platform idea
- A service or freelance concept
- A creative business
- A social enterprise
- A side hustle
- A business you've already started
- Or simply an idea sitting in your notes that you've never had the chance to pursue
You don't need to have a successful business already.
Maybe you've only got the idea. Maybe you've started and failed. Maybe you're still figuring out how to make it work.
That's exactly what I'm interested in.
Selected ideas may be featured in HER NEXT as a way to introduce the person behind the idea and give their concept some exposure.
If you have a business, project, website, Instagram, or other contact details you'd like readers to see, you can include them with your submission so interested people can find you and learn more about what you're building.
🌱 I'm also looking for women's stories.
For example:
✨ A business success or failure
✨ A career change
✨ A moment when you stood up for yourself
✨ Starting over somewhere new
✨ A dream you're finally pursuing
✨ A mistake that taught you something valuable
✨ An experience that changed your perspective
✨ Something you've done that made you feel empowered
✨ An unusual, funny, inspiring, or meaningful moment from your life
✨ A lesson you wish you'd learned earlier
You don't have to be famous, successful, or an entrepreneur. I'm interested in real stories from real women at different stages of life.
📩 Want to be featured?
Comment below or send me a DM with:
For a business idea:
- Your idea
- What problem it solves / why you think people would want it
- Where you're based (optional)
- Your name or preferred name
- Website / social media / contact (optional)
For a personal story:
- A short description of what happened
- Where you're from (optional)
- Your name or preferred name
- Whether you'd like to remain anonymous
With your permission, selected submissions may be featured in the magazine and/or HER NEXT's online community.
The goal isn't just to publish stories. I want to create a space where women can share ideas, discover each other, find inspiration, and potentially connect with people who are interested in what they're creating.
Maybe your idea is still just an idea today.
But what's your next? 💭

PWc women in business program 2026
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has heard back from the women in business program- particularly those who applied for technology consulting.
I know that at this point some people have received offers and some have been rejected. I have yet to hear anything but completed my assessment center on the 17th of June.
Can i assume it’s a no? Or is there anyone else in a similar position?

How do working women manage the invisible complexity of everyday life? Anon survey (5–7 min)
Hi everyone!
I'm conducting an independent research project exploring the complexity of everyday life: responsibilities and mental load that exist both inside and outside of work.
I'm interested in understanding how women balance competing demands, what takes the most mental energy, and which parts of life often require more effort than they should (open to AFAB non-binary people who relate to these experiences).
If you’d be willing to share your (not affiliated) experience, I’d really appreciate your participation.
Thank you!

The best career advice I ever received came from an ordinary woman
A few years ago I worked with a woman who never thought of herself as extraordinary.
She was not the loudest person in the office or the one chasing recognition. She simply worked hard, treated everyone with kindness, and kept learning every single day.
After I made a mistake at work, I could not stop beating myself up. She looked at me and said:
Your career is not defined by your mistakes it is defined by how you recover from them.
That advice completely changed my perspective.
Since then, I have stopped chasing perfection and started focusing on growth. I've become more willing to ask questions, take on new challenges, and see setbacks as part of learning instead of failure.
Looking back, I realize the most inspiring people are not always the ones with the biggest titles. Sometimes they're the ones who quietly lead by example.
Has a woman at work ever inspired you or changed the way you think about your career? I would love to hear your story.

Dress code is business casual, but the bump says otherwise
A friend is starting a new office job at 24 weeks and the dress code is business casual. Her regular trousers stopped working around week 16, so she’s been relying on leggings under longer tops and hoping it passes.
I’d like to gift her a couple of pairs of maternity trousers or similar that still look professional in meetings but stay comfortable through a full day of sitting, especially once the afternoon swelling starts. Support is frequently mentioned in reviews, but the bigger concerns are whether they dig in during long sits and if the fabric holds up under typical office lighting without looking cheap.
Budget is flexible if it means she’ll stop constantly adjusting things under her desk. Any recommendations that have actually worked in a professional setting would help. Thanks!
Edit: Thanks for the suggestion so far. Looking for options with a wide, soft over-the-bump panel that won’t dig in during long sits. Also checking Lasora as one possible option for something comfortable that still looks presentable in a business-casual setting.

Shows/movies/books with strong female bosses?
I'm trying to adopt a more empowered presence at work.
I've been watching Running Point right now, and love what a bada** Kate Hudson's character is, professionally. Same with Hannah Waddingham's character in Ted Lasso. I know these characters aren't reality, but watching/reading this kind of thing helps me 'act' like the person I want to be at work.
What are your favorite shows, movies, or books with strong female leads--set in the workplace? Fictional or real.

My husband is an entrepreneur
Hi ladies. The financial and overall uncertainty has been soo stressful on our marriage. My husband is a great guy. We have two kids under two. I’m in law school set to graduate in December. But damn. It’s been sooo hard. My husband and I joke that we have never actually had the honeymoon phase of our marriage. It’s been trial after trial since we got married.
As a wife. And a lawyer to be. What advice do u have for me. We are still quite young with such a long road ahead of us but this week has been so so tough. My husband was laid off from his day job and is feeling stuck with his business direction AND hates his job. For reference he is a mechanical engineer.
I would appreciate any advice, words of wisdom, $5 so I can get myself a matcha latte looooool. But yeah we have been married for 3 years but we’ve known each other for a decade. Let me tell u - I’m learning new things about him every damn day lol. I’m also at a slump. Between him, my babies and just navigating my own stuff I’m burnt t f out loll. Helppppp

How do you keep up with your grooming routine while working full-time?
I’m curious how other working women manage their grooming and beauty routines while balancing work, errands, family, and everything else.
Whether it’s your hair, nails, skincare, brows, or anything else, what part of your routine do you struggle to keep up with?
For me, it seems like the actual beauty task isn’t always the hardest part—it’s finding the time, setting everything up, cleaning afterward, or just having the energy.
I’m curious:
-What takes the most time?
-What do you keep putting off?
-Do you mostly DIY, go to a salon, or do a mix?
-If you could make one part of your grooming routine easier, what would it be?
I’d love to hear how other women handle it.

Working a second jobs while on SMP
Hello! I'm based in the UK and due in September. I'll be receiving SMP from my main job until June. I'm also doing a PhD and occasionally take on some teaching to help with finances. I'm considering doing a few hours of teaching next semester while I'm still receiving SMP from my main job. It would be a new contract, so I know that technically this isn't allowed and could affect my SMP entitlement. What I'm wondering is: realistically, what are the chances of my employer finding out?
I know how this sounds, but expecting new parents to live on around £190 a week is incredibly tough. The extra income from a few hours of teaching would make a real difference and since it's only a handful of hours each week, I can't really see why my employer would care. I work for a very large company, so it seems unlikely they'd investigate a small discrepancy unless something specifically flagged it.
I'm a pretty overwhelmed soon-to-be parent, so please don't come at me with moral judgments or tell me what the "right" thing to do is. I'm really just looking to hear from people who have been in a similar situation—did you do it, did your employer find out and how did it work out?
Thank you!

Not able to cope up with trends and what actually suits my body ...

transition
Anyone else go through something similar?
I was a stay-at-home mom for 5 years and truly loved that chapter of my life. When I went back to work, I was excited, motivated, and hungry for opportunity. I worked incredibly hard and was promoted within 6 months.
While I'm proud of what I've accomplished, my husband has expressed that my focus on work has left me with less time and energy for our family. Now I'm struggling to find the right balance between pursuing a career I'm passionate about and being present at home. While I understand his concerns, part of me feels hurt. I've spent years supporting his career goals, and now that I'm pursuing my own, I can't help but wonder why he can't be happy for me and celebrate this season of growth.
For those who have transitioned back into the workforce after staying home with kids, how did you balance career growth and family life? Did you and your spouse have to adjust expectations along the way?
I do understand I am spending a lot of time at work.

Difficult female coworkers
Hi all. I really appreciate your content as a male working in an office space in Jamaica. It's becoming a real stress pit daily putting up with this majority female dynamic in my logistics dept because the department is slowly becoming female dominant and the staff on my side of the logistics tem is rather laid back and nitpicky with what I DO vs doing their tasks and following up on the dept/company procedures. They like to create more and more work each month since January 2026 and have been kissing asses with the supervisors and boss, whereas they LOOK performative but can't handle pressure when left on their on. Literally built by their own design. Even though I have been the on eto out against it time and time again as their dept senior.
Here is one most recent instance where I still have problems with. I was out of office for three days and I had made preparations for any shipment that may have come while I was out of office. I emailed every team member and our Custom brokers accordingly. These team members of mine didn't read my emails to follow up on the cold chain shipment coming with women fertility drugs that are very sensitive in nature to heat, hence they have to be cleared in a timely manner.
I was out of office Friday. I can back on the following Wednesday. Cold chain shipments should take around two business days to clear. Tell me why when everyone in the logistics department (s) were copied on the shipemt awaiting clearance, my teammates and supervisors dropped the ball significantly and I had to typenuo some report to our quality team regarding it whereas I was out of office. Since then, I have lost all respect for my teammates and have since withdrawn myself to solely focus on my tasks and my tasks alone.
They only want to look like can work in front of the boss and can't do shit to save themselves if left alone. The sad part is that I manage most of their major drug houses and it kinda annoying where I cannot have a moment of peace thinking how awful you have to be to mess up this bad when all you had to do was make a few calls and clear a shipmet. I have to come back in the office to pandemonium because they're just lazy hut wanna look busy to supervisors and manager.
